  1. See my other response about this. Also, care to provide any proof? BTW, I heard that Peter Wolf is actually older than he claims.
  2. Pujols didn't become a US citizen until 2007. If you know anybody who was working in the US without citizenship after 9/11, the U.S. govt. became real ballbreakers after that. Especially if you left the country and tried to come back. I don't claim to know how old AP5 is, but I know that it wasn't as easy to come in and out of the country as you might think.
  3. there's been plenty of speculation about the age of Pujols. However, in the post-9/11 world, there's almost no way to fake it. A few other players have been caught up in this. It's not like the days of David Green.
  4. How so? I was only exaggerating a little bit here. There are plenty of ND fans in StL and it's not like we have some great history of sellouts at Chaifetz. There were plenty of people who showed up to cheer for the Tar Heels when Hansbrough came to town. Here's a link to an interesting article from the NY Times. Granted it's written about college football, but the article reports that StL is the #9 TV market nationwide for Notre Dame football. I see plenty of ND gear being worn around the StL area. http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/19/the-geography-of-college-football-fans-and-realignment-chaos/ I hope I'd be wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see a large contingent of ND fans for a game at Chaifetz. I think it would make sense for ND to play an occasional game in StL. It's an easy trip and area where they can get players from time to time. Didn't Hansbrough's brother go to ND? It wouldn't have to happen every year, but a home & home every few years wouldn't be a bad idea. I guess the Big East has been such a meat grinder that none of those teams are too eager to play non-conference road games.
  5. I'm afraid if we played a home game against ND half the crowd would be pulling for the visitors.
  6. What's especially interesting about this to me is the fact that 3 or the top 4 scores had 3 seasons of overlap. It's not like there was 1 go-to get getting 25 per night. Nice team back then, but couldn't get past XU. If only Upchurch hadn't been hosed by the administration.
  7. 47 would be a major step up, but no guarantee for an at large.
  8. You're right about the tough schedule, but this team was not typically 4 goals worse than anybody. At least not for about 40 years.
  9. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/article_401c3ecf-0803-5ef0-835d-2f0d50794071.html not sure I agree that Butler would consider A10.
  10. Catholic probably less important than urban and private and decent academics. They happen to coincide a lot.
  11. Bleacher Report is a complete was of time. However, at some point rickie will have to start winning enough games to get to the postseason. Whatever the situation has been over the last few years may or may not be rick's fault, but it's still his responsibility to win games. So far we've been a little better than middle of the road. That's not good enough. I'm hoping we see some of his magic turn into a trip to the big dance this year. I'm pretty confident we'll see progress this year.
  12. Do you think either one of them would be interested in the picture?
  13. If the Big East basketball teams split, how big do you think the conference would have to be to include SLU? I guess it depends somewhat on Notre Dame. If ND stays on board, I would guess that Xavier and Butler would be the first 2 picks if they'd want it. I'm thinking it would have to go to 12 teams to include the Bills. I don't think there's as much incentive to have huge basketball conferences vs. football.
  14. Don't know if we need another guard though. I don't think Rick will hesitate to bring in a quality player. If the current guys can't handle it they'll get passed over. Can you have too many guards? It didn't take too much on this Canadian trip to have Ellis playing point.
  15. If Texas had what these other conferences wanted, why have they been rejected by the ACC and Pac 12? It looks like Texas really screwed this one up. 2 years ago they were the lead team in what was probably the second best football conference behind the SEC. They had more money rolling in than the other teams in the conference and a clear path to a BCS bid. Now they're begging to get in the ACC and getting passed over by Pitt. They've begged a&m and oklahoma to stay. Now they're lucky to be part of a diminished Big 12. Texas is a great example of being blinded by greed and overplaying your hand. The program will always be fine, but I doubt they'll ever have the same position of strength in a quality conference again. What a pathetic mess the big 12 is.
  16. We'll probably know in the next couple of days if the dust has really settled. Even so, there is no reason to assume it won't start again next summer. I'm not sure how the Big East will hang on to a BCS bid, but stranger things have happened.
  17. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel, or are we headed towards a future of being a .500 program? It's amazing to see how far the program has fallen.
