  1. I give a modest thumbs-up to the Rhody dance team.
  2. Good article! But the Billikens shouldn't be considered a "sleeper" by anybody that pays attention to this board. They have only slightly outperformed what I had expected out of them this season. (I predicted 23-7, and an NCAA bid) In fact, anything short of an NCAA bid should be considered failure. The goal for the long-term should be to never to be considered a sleeper by the unwashed masses again. We don't want to be next year what Richmond is this year: A sweet 16 team that has fallen, once again, into anonymity. This isn't going to happen, as long as we have Rich Majerus as our coach. Next year promises to be just as good, or better than this year. Question 1: How much longer will RM be coaching? I'd like the Billikens to be the next Gonzaga Question 2: What are the reasons for Gonzaga's continued high achievement?
  3. No way do we want these guys in the Catholic Athletic League with us!
  4. Get rid of LaSalle and Fordham, because they suck, and 16 is too many teams. But, I've taken the liberty of e-mailing this post to my people in Vatican City. I hear Pope Benedict is a big NCAA hoops fan, and actually won the Papal NCAA tournament pool 2 yrs ago.
  5. IMHO, this is, by far the biggest reason for poor attendance. 80% of the people at the games are "casual" fans, compared to the posters on this board, they wantto see top 25 ratings, and marquee teams coming into the Fetz. Of course, that will all change as soon as we join the Catholic Athletic Conference ( working title) which will include perennial top 25 teams- Georgetown, Notre Dame, Marquette, Xavier, Villanova, Creighton, as well as Seton hall, Dayton, DePaul, Providence, maybe St. Joseph's, and NOT Duquense.
  6. Yeah, plus I heard that PT's and Roxy's have 1/2 price lap dances on Wed. nights now. Back in the Spoon days, you had to pay full price!
  7. Possibly, Coach Majerus was referring to the west coast of China? If so, it could be this guy. He's from Fujian, which, I believe is western China. http://latvia2011.fiba.com/pages/eng/fa/player/p/pid/83948/sid/5194/tid/262/_/2011_FIBA_U19_World_Championship/index.html
  8. There's not much you can do this season, since there's only two home games left. But, you seem like the type that is good at thinking outside the box. Here's my suggestion: Piggy-back off of Linsanity, and get a Chinese guy on the team. I'm not talking Asian American; I mean a Chinese National. Basketball is probably the most popular sport in China (Ping Pong is not a sport.) I know first hand that they are absolutely crazy about the game, because I work for a Chinese company, and have been to Beijing several times. I was at our company factory last March. There was snow on the ground, and the temperature was below 30 degrees F. The basketball court was shovelled off, and the factory workers were playing 5 on 5, full court during their lunch break. I don't remember ever seeing that kind of dedication to the game here in the US. China has got to be a gold mine for hidden basketball talent. College players are regularly recruited from Europe, and coach Majerus himself has had great success recruiting in Australia and New Zealand. Now, China should be considered the new frontier for recruiting. So, I suggest that you take this idea; make it your own, and run with it. Use your influence to get a meeting with Coach Majerus, and pitch the idea. Also, begin networking now. From reading other posts on this site, I believe there are a lot of Chinese students at SLU. Talk to them, and ask them to use any mainland China connections they may have to identify talented college age players. I'll get to work on my end ,too, and if I I.D. a basketball prodigy or two when I go back next month, I'll let you know. In the mean time, be proactive and start to think of ways to market our first Chinese basketball player. "Linsanity" is a catchy marketing phrase. Try to think up other catchy marketing phrases that refer to China and SLU basketball at the same time. That type of thing should be one of your areas of expertise. the marketing opportunities are endless! Your welcome for the great idea. I'm confident that a Chinese basketball star on the Billikens team in the next year or two will put a lot more fans in the seats than free pizza or Simon Says at halftime.
  9. If you're looking to next year, and wondering how the Billikens will replace their main inside threat, Brian Conklin. Based on past and recent history of players progressing under the coaching of Rick Majerus, you should expect continued improvement in that area from CR, CE, and RL, as well as at least 10 quality minutes/game from Manning, and possibly even Glaze. In fact, I expect the Billikens inside game, both on offense and, more so, on defense, to better next year, and probably significantly better.
  10. In the audience, I hear 1 guy whistling, and 3 fans clapping.
  11. This year, the Billikens are having a season like Richmonf had last year when richmond went to the sweet 16. The difference is- next year the Billikens will be just as good, or better. that's the way it's going to be for the rest of the Majerus era.
  12. SLU dance team vs. LaSalle's. No comparison!
  13. has anybody checked Jay Bilas' twitter feed? any comments on the first half?
  14. if SLU wants to be a top 25 program, they're going to have to evolve beyond Simon says for a half time show! The asian woman on the unicycle juggling bowls is way better!
  15. I predict a final score of 62-44. How will that effect our KenPom rating?
  16. best couple of the night on the camera at the time out!
  17. "that is the worst call I've seen in an unbelieveable game of non-calls!"
