  1. I think we should hear something but SLU has covered this up for almost 6 months. I wouldn't be surprised to see them to keep it private. Students aren't too happy though, from reading some of the U-News. They all want to know if sexual assault took place on campus, but SLU won't say anything. Maybe SLU thinks that if they dont announce anything, they won't get as bad of press, but if a lawsuit from the players takes place it would become even worse for SLU that they covered it all up.

  3. One semester would be tough but we could handle it. If they are eligible to play on December 14th, I could definitely see us escaping with a 5-2 record. MM and JJ can definitely fill in nicely and it would also allow for them to get some playing time and get up to speed with the college game. Same thing with RL down low.
  4. I understand that integrity and human life is important, but all I've heard are a bunch of rumors so until I hear some facts I'm expecting to have a full team for the season. If you've read all these topics, you'd know that everyone on here 100% agrees that if they truly did commit sexual assault, they should be suspended if not completely kicked out.
  5. I feel like these players are in a guilty until proven innocent situation and if that's the case, they won't be cleared unless the girl comes out and says it never happened. If the story is true about the lawyer and the parents coming into the hearing, it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. I wonder if SLU would hand out a suspension when they let their own rules be broken. I could see the family and the lawyers knowing that they weren't allowed to be there, but maybe they got lucky, were able to stay and then grilled the players and got them to admit to something and then by the time the school figured out that they shouldn't have been allowed it might be too late. I definitely think someone from that party re-leaked the story to the news and that's exactly why no one else picked it up. SLU probably stopped it all because it's either not true or nothing has happened yet. Or they didn't get the result they wanted so they're putting the pressure on SLU to do something so they don't look bad. All speculation though, I don't know anything really about this situation. BERNY does though. Berny is a pretty big slu fan. That's why he only created an account to only comment on the one topic that gives slu a bad reputation. I could believe that the one player is in trouble from past incidents but until something is announced I'm assuming we're having a full team at practice on Friday.
  6. lets say an attorney was used in the student court and it broke those rules. if he got the students to admit to something, can that be used against them?

  8. more publicity http://bleacherreport.com/articles/485135-college-basketball-is-this-the-year-rick-majerus-returns-to-the-ncaa-tournament
  9. One question about all of this. I thought that since the girl doesn't attend SLU, she can't even be involved can she? I thought it was SLU vs the players now and not the girl vs. the players. I could be completely wrong, but I'm just asking.
  10. If true, that's just terrible.
  11. As expected. SLUnatics http://www.unewsonline.com/2010/10/students-vote-on-new-name-for-spirit-section/
  12. hes got 3 years of eligibility left here.
  13. going to be announced tomorrow at 12:00
  14. SLU is in a lose-lose situation, and I think that a lot of it is there own fault. They just simply waited too long on this. If they really thought that the 2 committed sexual assault, they should be questioned about why they let the 2 stay on campus for over a month this semester. If they think the kids are a danger to the other students here, this should have been handled during the summer. Now the media has a hold of the story and they'll get negative publicity either way. Maybe the suspensions aren't related to the sexual assault incident. Maybe it's multiple minor incidents added up. In that case, I feel that they are being punished too heavily because they are athletes. Obviously I don't know what "other incidents" could mean, but I'd be curious to see if everyone would be treated the same. Also, I wonder if equal punishments for the 2 is fair. I think we all know that one has had more problems staying out of trouble than the other so we'll see how that plays out. I want to see the best basketball possible. If the 2 players didn't do anything wrong, or if they just had a minor incident or 2, then i want to see them on the court right away. If they did commit sexual assault or had a significant other violations than a suspension or even expulsion is necessary. I just wonder if the fact that their names are tied in with this incident but they couldn't find sufficient evidence has made them attempt to find every minor violation so that they can suspend them.
  15. With so many rumors flying around, I guess the only thing to do now is wait and see. In most cases no news is good news, with SLU no news could mean anything.
  16. We have plenty of talent. young talent though. could be a frustrating season. could be just like last year. we'll wait for details. maybe(highly doubt) we'll get one or both back next year. we'll see.
  17. I think we all agree that if there was sexual assault, they'd be expelled. I also guess none of us know what caused the one year suspension. No way is underage drinking the sole reason. It shouldn't be a reason at all. Also, they can't just suspend them because there name was brought up in the incident. Maybe there was a minor incident this summer that we don't know about. Maybe the suspensions will get reduced or taken away. It will be interesting to see how this plays out by the end of the week.
  18. In my mind, it's going to get more attention now because they hushed it up so long. They could have taken care of this over the summer or at the beginning of the school year and there would've been less time for the story to leak. It was going to eventually leak to the public if they put it off for too long. Now you have a woman's rights and perceived athlete favoritism issue or a racial issue. SLU will have to choose what they want to deal with.
  19. I'm starting to fear that now that the story is out, SLU will be TOO harsh against the players because they are athletes.
  20. Agree completely. If only there were a way to let the student council hear or read all of this.
  21. The thing is that I would think she puts herself in danger of punishment by taking it through the school. I know an underage drinking violation wouldn't be much of a punishment, but she would still have to be charged with it. I don't see how you can suspend someone for a year if you don't find them guilty. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
  22. Word is that Channel 5 cut off the 2nd half of the kid who said, "of course athletes shouldn't get special treatment". he also said...."however I have yet to hear any hard evidence supporting a rape so how can they punish anyone?" but it was cut out.
