You would have thought a normal athletic department would hype up a player being three 3's away from breaking the all-time school record. In fact, you would have thought they'd be hyping this up for weeks. Probably a tracker graphic every game. I didn't know this was a thing until yesterday.

Jimerson could set the record for most senior nights if he comes back

One of the biggest indictments of Ford should be that actual all-time good players like Yuri and Jimerson constantly get some sort of negative/criticism such as "Claggett did it in less games" or "Yuri took bad shots" or "Yuri was overrated" or whatever

I'm sure we have one set of boosters who loves the Ahearn family and another set of boosters who hears the letters NBA and thinks it's the greatest thing in the world. I need everyone on this board to buy powerball tickets so we can have a say in this

May deserves full credit for a bunch of really good things he's done at SLU. He also deserves full blame for even negotiating an extension, let alone coming to an agreement, with Ford after that miracle A10 run. It's time for him to move to a new role.

I just hope both teams have fun, don't get hurt, shake hands at the end of the game, and take turns playing the arcade games at pizza hut after the final whistle.

Right imagine if Trudy Busch Valentine was coming into BOT meetings slamming her fist saying the athletic department shouldn't do xyz or hire abc. These people defer to each other BOT member's area of expertise. And Chaifetz/May thought this was a good contract. It wasn't. I don't even mind the salary. I think that's a good thing. But they bid against themselves. It should have never even gotten to the BOT. May should have laughed when Ford's agent first brought up the idea.

If anything I happy that our BOT is willing to approve a contract paying the head coach 2.5M per year over 8+ years. It's up to the athletics boosters and the athletic director to pick the right guy though. They failed.

Tate is a good guy. He did his job here. But things just aren't the same in terms of recruiting. And while bringing in all these St Louis guys is fun, it just doesn't seem to matter on the court. Maybe an actual coach fixes that but just give me the 8 best players you can find

My worry on Ahearn is that he'll be hired for the wrong reasons and have the wrong expectations. If they hire him because they think he'll focus a lot on St Louis recruits and he'll have a team of predominantly local guys then he's going to be set up to fail. You won't win with a team like that and the boosters who hired you will be mad if you win with other guys. If you hire him because you think he can develop players with his NBA experience and he can run a modern offensive system, you still may not win but at least you're thinking progressively

There are a lot of names floated and a lot of leaks of interest. Why do I get the impression that our coach will be more like a Rebecca Tillet hire that is unexciting and comes out of nowhere. Now Tillet had a great year last year so before anyone freaks out on my comment, please understand I realize that but she was also unexciting at the time.

I worry different boosters have very different opinions on the next coach. And I'm sure the AD differs from both of them too. I don't necessarily expect an organized effort here

Is there any candidate that would be worse than retaining Ford?

Keep sending stuff to everyone involved. Ford is gone. May needs a new job. And they need to know this next hire can't be another retread

Mack and Moser would be great. Schertz feels more realistic. But our leaders will screw it up somehow

Ford is gone. Everyone knows it including him. Why do you think he never has a plan? He doesn't need a plan to turn it around here because he won't be here next year

I don't even know who I want making the final call on the next coach. I might honestly nominate one of us before anyone involved in the program

We missed our chance at glory. Then hired some horrible coaches. But hey at least we have cool looking buildings

My interest in Schertz is that he seems like the rare ascending coach that we could land.

Lots of offseason hype which I know sounds sarcastic but it is nice to have. Obviously the run to the tournament and some individual games from some all-time Billikens.

All candidate are listed in their order of preference within their tier Tier 1 (Turns us into a Sweet 16 program) - Schertz Tier 2 (Huge upside carries notable risk) - McCollum Tier 3 (revives us but the ceiling isn't where it should be ) - Moser, Mack, Holtman, Kerns, Enfield, DeVeries, Kelsey, Wardle Tier 4 (keeps the program out of the basement but shouldn't be employed) - Pitino, Ahearn Tier 5 (it's only going to get worse than it is now) - Crean, Weber, Ford
