  1. Sweet Art has delicious cupcakes. You are a grown man, if you want a cupcake, get a cupcake.
  2. Maybe Pfizer will just let the team get a trial of the vaccine, just have them pop by the manufacturing facility in town.
  3. If Bobby Knight could come back, then why not.
  4. I have a crazy idea just 2 weeks prior to the start of the season, let’s talk about free throw form. I have a new approach to shooting free throws that I think would be beneficial for Hashan French. It is a simple approach, but I have never seen it described or used. I would suggest that a player should set their feet in a normal shooting stance, and potentially have one foot slightly forward for balance. Preferably, the foot on the same side as the shooting arm should be slightly forward. The player should stand with legs and upper body completely straight and fixed. The shooting arm should be extended directly upward and completely straight. The player then leans the upper body backwards, or simply flexes backwards. This flex could simply be a bowing of the entire body backwards, or a pivot substantially at the waist level. The player should stretch or reach backwards enough to generate power to send the ball to the basket. The player should then release this energy, allowing the shooting arm to proceed forward. The player should then, keeping the shooting arm straight, aim the ball in a form similar to a typical basketball shot, by curling the wrist and, partially the fingers, into the basket (from their perspective) creating spin on the ball (ie. standard follow through). The arm may need some physical power to obtain the speed and power to complete the shot, but this should not be the entirety of the shot. In short, this involves standing rigid with the arm straight above, then a stretch back and release, with follow through. I think this description should cover it. This would allow a shot with less body motion, while still relying on the benefits of the raised basketball shot, including the form with a raised wrist (ie. follow through), as compared to a granny shot. This reduces the inconsistency caused by the upward and forward motion of the arm in a standard shot, as the arm requires more overall motion to generate an accurate shot, compared to the described method. For example, there is less risk than the pivoting around the knees, hips, shoulder, elbow, etc from a normal shot. This method leads to a flatter shot. It also sends the ball to the basket softer on a more consistent basis, allowing the ball to roll around the rim, leading to a fairly high likelihood the ball will go in when the shot is slightly offline. Which, with French, would probably be an upgrade. In general, I think this shooting approach makes more sense overall than the typical free throw shot, at least from a mechanical perspective. It is also fairly easy to get the ball to the basket, almost anyone can shoot with this approach physically. As a final note, I think this approach would particularly help Hashn French, though that should be obvious by now. He appears to have a good follow through. I would assume his shot problems come from his arms. If I were to guess, I would say that he is probably so strong that he struggles with the fine motor adjustments needed by the arms when in free motion. The ball seems to be off on distance short and long. It even seems off left to right. He may have trouble keeping his elbow in a fixed plane to the basket as well as, you know, normal power. The method described above would take his arm muscles out of the equation. He would be able to focus on finding the right amount of stretching backward. This likely would be an easier objective. I am done. I hope you enjoyed this description. I entreat all of you to try this at your personal hoops and upload some pics.
  5. It is weird, I wanted Kern to commit more than Nesbit, but I am not surprised and kind of less affected by this news. When Nesbit chose not to pick us, I felt like it was really a statement on how much talent we have at the 2/3 who are either freshmen or sophomores. It is one thing to be buried on the depth chart at a traditional power, but would be difficult to be buried at an upstart. We can’t exactly hide how talented Hargrove is from these guys. Jimerson, Thatch, Jacobs, Strickland, Russell, and now Lorentson could be a 2/3. That said, it is going to be really hard for these guys to watch us dominating in the final four this 2021.
  6. Correction on miss: “See what I did there? ((I used a parenthetical to explain the concept in the sentence) I then wrote this sentence to point out what I did above)“
  7. So, did you try to check Nick Kern’s Instagram and fail?
  8. Yeah, the hope with Fred, TJ, and Bell is just hype until the season begins. The rest of those names, we really should have no expectations from right now.
  9. I would just rather start the best players so that they feel appreciated and don’t transfer. That said, it is awesome that Fred can push GJ. It will make both of them better.
  10. Gibson hit his foot with a hammer in retaliation.
  11. If the quote was “Hasahn is hitting 60% from the FT line” it would probably, and sadly, have a bigger impact on our teams ceiling. Hope HF can hit 50% or more this year.
  12. I will continue to expect Lorentson to be a nothing burger until proven wrong in a game.
  13. BREAKING: Will Wade is taking a pay cut for LSU. This marks the first time in NCAA history that a coach is officially being paid less than his players.
  14. At first, it looked like my reply was posting in all of the copies, but no such luck. Could have been a weird thing to watch. Taj79 is carrying a virus.
  15. Belay that order. This man is an innovator.
  16. This is a creative approach, but I think I would rather pass on games, rather then lose because we only have 5 guys who can really play.
  17. Starters play a lot >30 min. After that, In order: GJ, TJ, ML, JBell, FT, DJ. I don’t know how FT or DJ beat out GJ for minutes now. Based on how good he was last year. Who knows, X factors. If you think about our team early last year, we would take off against our opponents the moment Perkins and Gibson came in. I have to think the coaches noticed it, and will try to get them on the court a lot.
  18. Here are my starters: YC, JP, JG, HF. (I corrected, I meant Perkins). Right now, it is good to assume that J. Bell will start as well, but I would not be surprised if Linssen ends up eating into his minutes because of consistency on offense. Gibson and TJ will give the best points/minute off of the bench, based on last year. I expect a lot from them. DJ and Thatch are big X factors. Both have shown that they can contribute on a high level. DJ was not consistent last year on offense. FT is just kind of an unknown with a high ceiling. Either could break through. Great defenders. I doubt that the other 3 will break onto the court much at all this year. That is a bummer for them. Anything could happen, but that is my expectation. That said, P. Russell Gets an all conference Vote from me. Really like the local star who takes a walk-on. I hope he gets a couple backup minutes and gets hot in at least one game.
  19. Linssen does look pretty good in the video, but he definitely did NOT block Hasahn. In fact, Hasahn looks like he is honing his style against him (I toned this down a lot for Linssen’s sake).
  20. Not to pick out one response in particular. On this topic, I think it is just a basic equation. The odds of jumping from Europe to the NBA are fairly low. The G league provides a good route to the NBA, but it has higher risk than being drafted. If you get drafted, you get guaranteed money. You also have a team’s investment. It is harder to cut someone in the summer if you drafted them in July, if you are the GM. You just look like you are an idiot. This applies even for second round picks, though 1st round is the big ticket. Also, you can go to the G league and still reserve for the draft. 6 people have done it, so it is just kind of a lightly tread path. So, knowing that, just calculate the amount of money you would obtain as a draft pick, versus taking an immediate salary. Get an estimate for the odds, for example, of 1st round money and 1 year of no pay against taking an immediate salary. I think the pro evaluation would be instrumental in making this decision, just as it is when choosing a 4th year. In fact, I think a 4th and 5th year decision should be identical.
  21. I disagree. Each player has an opportunity to make it to the NBA from college. The money in the NBA dwarfs money from any other league. If our seniors still have an area of their game to improve upon, then an extra year in college makes sense. For example, let’s assume French has some improvement to make in free throws or general shooting, college would still be the fastest and best route to get interest from the NBA.
  22. What is this, ‘Days of Our Lives’? Everyone, stop posting. Also, please please please please let go of Jordan Nesbitt in your hearts. If you really truly loved that bird, then let him fly free.
  23. I was shocked by this as well. All I can say is that he has scrubbed all of the bad stuff from his Wikipedia page. So, that is probably the answer.
