  1. Oh, so here's a guy who dogs Femi John, but when I dog Brett Thompson, you bring out the wood and the nails. Way to go, moy.
  2. I always liked Patterson. Nice guy and one of the better mids SLU has had in a while.
  3. So you don't get banned when you call other posters names? That's great.
  4. It's also called setting up an account during a 3-hour layover at Harstfield in Atlanta. Beat the system.metz
  5. Peter, Ian Voyoukas had a great touch around the basket and was a pretty solid defender. True, I wasn't sold on him until later in his career, but he did have to come in right away because of Tom Frerick's inability to stay healthy. He was thrown into the fire and came out as one of the better Billiken big men. Alliteration aside, we will not see the same out of Thompson. Conklin and Reed have surpassed him as far as mental and physical strength are concerned. Thompson will be frustrated at a lack of playing time, will pout and probably seek a transfer. That's what I see. I am not a big BT fan. When three freshman PF/C types come in and two of them excel leaps and bounds over the third, you will see some poor body language and attitude from the lesser player. That is what Thompson is, in my humble opinion. By the way, good seeing you at Bar Louie on Saturday. Wish we could have talked more. Love you too.
  6. Well the definition of dumb isn't defined on this Web site, so until I get some satisfaction as to what a "dumb opinion" is, you'll get my opinion when asked. This poster asked what Thompson's development will be like and I responded that it will be slow and agonizingly painful. That is from watching a guy like Willie Reed, who didn't even play as a senior in high school, have an incredible freshman year. The comparisons between him and Voyoukas are incredibly inaccurate.
  7. I'd rather root for Memphis than Marquette. Dwayne Wade is the only reason that school is in the Big East. Makes me physically ill to watch them play Notre Dame, UConn, Syracuse and Providence every year. Physically ill. Muck Farquette.
  8. I'd much rather root for the Tigers than MU. Which team have we played more in our history? What school's fan base treats ours like crap when we are a much better school and have a nicer campus? The answer would be Marquette.
  9. Oden was 35, Thompson is 18/19. I'm not making a cheap shot or swipe, just an observation. People are entitled to opinions, even in the Obama era.
  10. Should be interesting...looks like a summer weight program could really help!! Our S&C guys need to pound Willie, Brett and Jeff...they don't need to look like Lou Ferigno, but I had arms like Reid's when I was in jr. high.
  11. Youtube "Gus Johnson Fort Minor Remix." It's worth it.
  12. But the fact that it's a Marquette guy has to be great for us SLU people. I have a hard time talking to my aunt because she is a Marquette grad.
  13. Who will be the next Adam Morrison? Honestly, do we need another Adam Morrison? I can't stand the Kevin Youkilis-wanna-be on Gonzaga's present squad. There's always one.
  14. Has Ball U reached the "Summit" of the basketball world?
  15. Chris Webber's stats before the timeout: Chris Webber 11-18 from the field 23 points Does anyone remember that? No. Heyward will go down in Marquette "lore" for his gaffe tonight. There's nothing we can do about it.
  16. I am not sold on Thompson at all. I know Majerus can develop players, but it is evident that the game is too fast for him.
  17. Probably one of the biggest bonehead plays I have ever seen in NCAA Tournament history, save for the Webber "time out" gaffe in 1993. Couldn't have happened to a greater team than Marquette, our old buddies from C-USA. Hahahaha. The "goat" can move up from Wrigley on I-94 to Marquette University. While Vitale and Phelps praise the "effort" of Dominic James, we should be concentrating on the mental and physical error made in one play by Heyward. Who knows, maybe Marquette ties it up, wins in OT and then shocks Memphis (another old C-USA foe) to get to the regional final. I was rolling in my chair watching this classic Bucknerian gaffe from Muck Farquette. As much as I also could care less for Mizzou, this was hilarious. Chris Webber, you are, as Bill Rafftery would say, "off the hook!"
  18. Were working out together in matching Illini garb at the Simon Recreation Center on the campus of Saint Louis University today. Where's your school spirit, T. Lisch?
  19. What's wrong with having that kind of mentality? If you think you are good, you should act like you are good. Liddell acted like he had his ticket punched to the NBA draft the first day he came here. Obviously that didn't pan out, but cockiness isn't bad if you know you have the ability to be a stud.
  20. He's gone. Jerry West will pull the trigger on that one.
  21. Howland didn't "go to UCLA," UCLA went and got him. Was it a good situation for the CA native, yes. But in the grand scheme of things, UCLA was smart to seek a new HC with relatively zero ties to the program. We should have done that in 2002, when Romar went back to Seattle and to recruit program-changers like Nate Robinson. We should have gone hard after Mark Few or even a guy like Jim Molinary (former HC at Bradley). Doug Woolard should have been the fall guy for Soderberg, but he flew the coop to USF, leaving Soderberg to be his own fall guy. A guy like Majerus, who has the "Jesuit roots" was perfect for re-building the program in 2007, but think about what should have been done circa 2002 -- and maybe we're looking at a spot in the Boise sub-regional instead of Missouri. If anything, Doug Woolard should never be allowed back on the Frost Campus or have any interaction with university administrators for as long as he lives.
  22. We should have gone 2-0 against Dayton this year. WVU is in the Big East and has legendary coach Bobby Huggins calling the shots. In a remote trailer park, Kevin Pittsnoggle is crying.
  23. Unreal. Huggins is gone. How can you lose to Dayton?
  24. I think the Pitt HC job has always been a pretty solid position. For UCLA to go outside of the Bruin family for Ben Howland speaks volumes to that. I think the Bruins were smart to clean house and rid themselves with any mess left over from the Harrick-Lavin era. Wish the Bills would have done that when Romar left.
