Predicting 6-2 is enough to win the conference is rediculous.

5-3 would be great in my book?! If we go 6-2 we are in position to win the conference?! winning on the road in the a-10 is tough?! My goodness this board has gone off the deep end and any high expectations and passion for "above averageness" as I have dubbed it, have flown out the window. If we want any chance at winning the conference, we have to go 7-1 AT MINIMUM. 5-3? Well i'm glad some are happy with a pathetic conference record in a pathetic conference then. Here's a news flash, HOUSTON IS NOT VERY GOOD! Neither is Rhode Isalnd, neither is Temple, neither is Charlotte! THEY ALL HAVE LOSING RECORDS!!! Fordham is BARELY over 500 with a SOS 147 as is St. Joe's. The only games that should present a challenge is GW and XU. The A-10 is a sad conference and noone really scares me in it at all. But of course, SLU won't win the games we SHOULD win, because we are SLU, and we don't do that. This is disappointing, looks like SLU fans are going back to accepting mediocrity.

Did the St. Mary's fans really rush the court? How pathetic, Gonzaga isn't even ranked. That is sad.

I hate when NBA teams do this. Every year they draft "upside" over proven talent. Every year, NBA teams are let down by "upside" draft picks (cite: Chicago Bulls 199-2005). It wasn't until they drafted a proven player (Kirk Heinrich) that things finally started clicking. Drafting "upside" is the worst strategy as it offers a high return, yet at a rediculously high risk. For every Kobe and KG, there's a Kwame, Bender, etc.

When I said explosive, it was meant as an adjective describing the noun "improvement." (Enlgish class, 7th grade). I wasn't refering to Luke's offensive leaping ability or scoring ability. Luke has improved exponentially over last year on fundamentals and the "little things." Ian does not "try up his normal man and a half", rather its Luke who boxes out every single play. The fact that Ian nor Brad can't adjust to a suffocating D such as St. Bonnies or Duquense is just an embaressment and further proves my point that while a good player, he's not the reason we are winning games. 2-3 defense have been in play since I started in 5th grade, you make adjustments to get the ball inside no matter what. We are winning games in spite of Ian's cataclysmic dropoff the past month. So basically you are saying that Brad does not know how to adjust his offense against a stifling St. Bonnie 2-3 zone D? If that's the case, hmmmm.

And to think that we are better because of Ian is ludacris. We are better because of TLs and LMs explosive improvement over last year.

Billikan, Wow!!!! First you bang inside with the big boys as a center stating "I've been down there, and I've had guys hang all over me" just as IV had, now you live and die as a 3 point shooter!!! Is there anything you didn't do!? Where did you play college ball, and I'm assuming you were a lottery pick in the NBA. With your talent, you must have taught Dirk the fine art of shooting as a big man! You must have been one hell of a player back in your day since you know everything to know about every position. Well naturally, since you've played every position at the collegiate, even professional level. While you are at it, why don't you solve the global warming problem, settle peace in the middle east, put a man on Mars, develop an alternative fuel and water source, and maybe learn how to cure cancer. I'm sure you can do it.

What makes you think we do not know what is going on in a basketball game? If you know so much about the game, why hasn't your name been tossed into the coaching mix? Actually, with your knowledge skip, I bet you could make the crossover to football as I know there is a vacancy in Pittsburgh. But just for fun, what makes you think you are more knowledgeable about basketball then me? busting his a$$ means grabbing 14 rebounds in 3 games? 6 rebounds when you are the biggest guy on the court last night? please. don't kid yourself. i watched him specifically every play last night and saw no movement on offense, run of the mill D, and not one balls out play. Its clear he's given up a little once he realized the scouts were gone. Any objective viewer can see that. and by the way, i could care less about proving my support a tool like yourself.

Billikan, Have you ever watched a basketball game outside of SLU in your life? Any center gets fouled and beat up as much as IV. He is no different. He doesn't try to get the ball on offense consistantly, he doesn't grab rebounds. He's just not trying. No shame in admitting that. He should be on the bench to at least start the game. He has no motivation, shows no heart, is never diving on the floor, etc. Put BH or AK out there, even if they aren't as good, I'd rather have a hussle player rather then a giant that takes up space with a lazy attitude. You are the most senstative guy to any sort of criticism I have ever seen Billikan, and I think its a problem for you. Ian is just not trying out there, and not giving 100%, and that's a fact.

I'd rather have 10 Luke Meyer's with average talent then 10 IVs with no heart.

Yea, they were terrible, but they were terrible both ways. There wasn't a bias so this is a stupid discussion. They blew calls on both ends, didn't call that one blatent travel on RI at the end of the game but they also called some phantom calls on RI for hand checks and other BS like that. The only thing you can ask for is consistancy, and they were (albiet consistantly bad). Seriously, stop with the refs. You and allen iverson can discuss the merits of officiating over high tea on your own time. Its embaressing to see the same people on here bashing the refs every game.

IV may have regressed more then any single basketball player I have ever seen in my life. Anyone that watched him knows, because of his effort, HE SHOULD NOT START! I know AK and BH don't have the talent of IV, but at least they are out there trying. He is embaressing himself with his lack of effort. He knows he blew his chance at the NBA and the few scouts that came out to watch him early are long gone. Tommie is the man. His outside shot has improved dramatically over last season, he's creating, he's rebounding, and when he puts 100% effort out there, he can't be stop, he could go off for 25 night the way he is playing now. I wish he'd be a little more vocal and take of the team leader position. LUKE MEYER IS A STUD. I never thought I'd say that, because early on, I was not a Luke fan, but his hussle and his heart is incredible. I love the way he plays, his intensity, and his basketball smarts. Imo, he's the leader right now. He doesn't have all the talent in the world, but he sure tries hard every single play. (imagine if IV had half the heart of Luke). As for KL, I think he will be fine. I don't want any kool-aid drinkers out there saying he's hurt, cuz he's not (remember, 17 in a row at practice, hmmmm, can't be hurting too much). Our bench is more pathetic then Rosie O'donnell in a fast food drive thru and as shallow was her personality. Finally a win...

What I agree with in your post: 1. We are an ordinary mid-major team - you hit the nail on the head here 2. We are in a pathetic conference - pathetic may not be the world, more like terrible 3. Attract regional attention - if even that - SLU gets hardly any press, at all, even in St. Louis 4. No big time school could care less about playing us 5. We have no history - I love when the "dreamers" say, well wait a minute! we have 6 NCAA berths! that's pathetic What I disagree with: 1. The campus is average - the Campus is FAR FAR FAR from average - its a beautiful campus, with beautiful architecture - by far nicer then anything marquette or dayton could have to offer - you were WAY OFF BASE here - the campus is incredible 2. The school is far from "mid-major" - SLU has made huge strides in academics and student recruiting and is continually moving up the charts in university rankings
