  1. You are absolutely correct. I recall busing from St. Louis to Pittsburgh and back for a conference competition and I would say that, across all sports, bus travel is more common than air travel.
  2. Agreed on the skinny comment. From what I had heard I thought most people were expecting CR to redshirt this season. With Brett gone, Paul out, and Cody munching on Vegemite, I don't know that anyone will be redshirting, but Jon Smith looked like a better candidate, based purely on frame. And yes, he has A LOT of tats.
  3. I always thought Marc Gasol was 20% sasquatch
  4. 17.3.2.1 Permissible Conditioning Activities. Team conditioning or physical-fitness activities supervised by coaching staff members may be conducted on or off court but shall not begin prior to the beginning of the institution’s academic year in accordance with Bylaw 17.1.6.2. Such activities shall be limited to eight hours per week. (Revised: 1/10/90 effective 8/1/92, 1/16/93, 1/11/94) On court practices can't start until the 5 pm the Friday nearest October 15th, per 17.3.2, but 17.3.2.1 allows conditioning, while 17.3.2.2 outlines what is not allowed (offense/defense alignments, chalk talk, game strategy, film, anything using basketball equipment, etc.)
  5. Well in that case all the doubters can blow me!!! (Note: This color means I'm joking/being fasecious/being sarcastic/not meant to be taken seriously from now on in my posts) Seriously though, NCAA, please give us back our Cody.
  6. I think Timmerman has a story about this up now (Link). Forgot to mention it this morning, but Holmes is our for the year with a torn ACL.
  7. Like someone else correctly inferred, it was supposed to be taken as a joke. Again, I forgot how literally written word can be taken on message boards. I'll try to add a little emphasis to my posts in the future or something I guess. Either way, I figured Nate would come with support of my claim eventually, which he has, and I'm sure most of the people on this board will take his word over mine. And I think at this point we can all agree that Ellis isn't hear, no matter what was said at the bar at Humphrey's, or wherever this misinformation/misunderstanding took place. Hopefully he'll make it, but at this point it looks pretty bleak from my perspective.
  8. You're right, that was my reasoning to you all. But no, I'm not disputing it just because of a gut feeling. I'm not that stupid. If I was begging anyone to believe me I would give more information, but I'm not. I don't care if you guys do believe me or don't. I just felt I needed to post in this thread before everyone started doing celebrations around their cubicles this morning and then got on eBay to check for Cody Ellis replica jerseys.
  9. No, know he isn't here. I haven't posted much since last season ended; I forgot how important every single word is to the meaning of your sentence on a message board. Didn't mean to convey my position changed from 100% at all. I think Clock is probably right...Maybe what EReeves said is true, or maybe someone in that conversation misunderstood what was being said, but Cody Ellis is not on Saint Louis University's campus.
  10. Let's just call it Billiken Intuition. Like I said, I'm pretty confident I'm right on this one.
  11. Like I said, I really would love to believe you, or whatever player you spoke to, but at the same time, I really like the chances that I'm right on this one. I'm more confident Cody isn't at SLU than I am that Cutler threw 4 interceptions last night.
  12. Not true. 100% Not true. I guarantee your friend is wrong. Not that I don't want to believe you, but that's false.
  13. Kind of surprised to not see any discussion on the recruit who was in town this weekend, Kyle Kelm. Anyone seen him play before?
  14. I lived in Marchetti East and in Marchetti West at different points, and I don't remember any of the rooms being set up so that a balcony entrance was accessible from the bedroom. Some of the "convertible" units have a sliding wooden divider that is used to separate the bedroom area from the common area, since there is no real wall between them, but even in those the sliding glass door was on the common area side. Nonetheless I was sorry to hear about this today. Absolutely tragic no matter the cause.
  15. Seeing as our arena didn't seem to reach its attendance peak each game until the 12:00 minute mark of the first half, I doubt droves of people were going to show up at 6 for the senior awards if they were before the game either. The people that were there after the game probably would have been the people that were there before the game for the most part.
  16. New rankings put SLU at #16. Congrats!
  17. Kinda like there isn't any mention of Thomas Jefferson being the President of the United States.
  18. Came in as a reliever in the 3rd, pitched 5 innings, 1 earned, 9 K's. Outman also signed with the Doubledays after being drafted by the Jays. He's pitched 2 2/3 so far with 1 earned run.
  19. Nate, I think almost everyone on this site would agree that we appreciate your insights and your contrinutions here as well as the content you post on BillikenReport. At the same time, I don't envision ever signing up for a full Scout membership while it's $89.95 a year. That's obscene, in my opinion. I have no idea whether you do or do not have control over the amount charged for premium access (I would imagine you do not), but as long as it is that high it just isn't worth it to me, and probably many others. Between all of the message boards and online information you can get about sports for free, it isn't nearly an attractive enough investment for my $$$. If I were to pay for any kind of sports info subscription, it would be ESPN Insider long before it was Scout. I can get 2 full years of ESPN Insider for $30 less than 1 year of Scout, and with that comes 52 issues of ESPN: The Magazine. I'm glad that there are some people out there willing to pay for your content, because it is typically good stuff, but I think somehow that price point needs to come down. If it were $20-25 a year you'd have me there (and probably quite a lot more subscribers than you do now).
  20. Well that sucks...good luck to you Brett. Sorry to hear that he is so upset about whatever coach's comments were...but as someone else mentioned, I don't see how that takes away from your passion to play the game. If it takes away from your passion to be a Billiken, then whatever, get out of here and find somewhere else you are happy. However, once you are on the court trying to win a basketball game if you are thinking about how your coach said you are fat and slow, you don't have passion to begin with. After a particularly poor performance, my college coach suggested I find a different sport. Next time out I had my best performance of the season. I guess something like that gets in Brett's head negatively, rather than motivating him. Everyone (including Brett) knows Majerus tells it like it is. I don't think anything he said about any of our players, other than perhaps consistently being unable to remember what year Paul Eckerle is in, was false. Maybe it wasn't what some would consider appropriate, but it was still true... Anyway, sorry to see Brett go. It's not like we expected to get through this upcoming season unscathed anyway. Hopefully this is our only transfer.
