  1. I would prefer a guy like Ahearn that at least has experience as a player at a similar level program over a guy like Carrawell who has only experienced college basketball at Duke and Marquette. That said, there are many positives about Carrawell and you can make a strong case for him. Neither would be at the top of my wishlist, but they are both better options than some of the names that have come up.
  2. Mike Woodson was a twice failed NBA head coach before he took the IU job. Ahearn isn’t in my top 5 candidates, but he has just as much or more going for him as the candidates outside that group. I could live with him getting the job, once you get past a few candidates there isn’t anyone I would label as 100% can’t miss hires.
  3. I think his dad is still a Billiken season ticket holder.
  4. As great as Biondi's first around 20 years for the school were, his last years were really bad. He left the school in a financially bad position and with faculty in open rebellion. Plus, he was at the helm of the university when passed over for Big East membership multiple times. Fred isn't flashy, but he was a good choice post Biondi. Right guy for the moment. He hasn't been perfect, but righted the ship on multiple fronts. With rumors about Fred approaching retirement, it probably is time for a first couple decades Biondi type.
  5. I don't think it matters if you fire Ford now or after the season. Firing him now doesn't get you a jump on hiring your next guy. People keep sayin it does, but it just isn't true. If the people that matter have decided Ford is gone (I believe they have), they have already started the process of securing a coach for next season. If May is headed out the door, they are going to offer him the chance to make it look like he has decided to retire and to take some kind of fundraising post in his retirement. Many donors like Chris May and I think he gets a chance to save face because of that.
  6. Funny because going into the the season Tavis said we don't rebuild, we remix.
  7. This tweet from Drink and this subsequent retweet from Drink were telling.
  8. I really think now this was all about Drink. I think they did things purposely to make her believe it was time to start looking for a nice landing spot so they can hire an athletic director that will make Drink happy. Not a good thing for your position to have opposed the contract extension of Drink a year ago and then have him take the program NY 6 bowl the next season.
  9. Brad was great as a defensive X's and O's guy. This goes back to his one year as an assistant here when the team finishes 10th in the country in Pomeroy's defensive ratings. The only to other times SLU finished in the top 10 were the 13 and 14 tournament teams. He was bad offensively with the X's and O's. His highest ranked team in Pomeroy's offensive efficiency ratings was 131 and that was his only team that had rating higher than 150. He had two teams well below 200.
  10. Can someone just give Matt Doherty a ticket behind the bench to heckle Ford and end our long national nightmare
  11. Something isn’t adding up with this Reed-Francois move. In the surface going to Arizona is a big step down.
  12. If Ford and/or May are getting fired, only a couple of donor families are going to know that for sure at this point. Maybe a few select other people would know, but it would be an extremely small circle at this point. It wouldn’t include the AD. Either one family or both families will be paying the bulk of the buyout/buyouts and coughing up the money for the replacement. Just to remind everyone, the BoT (outside of one member) didn't know anything about Brad getting fired until it was posted on here. Doubt the circle will be that small when the announcement is made this time, but the circle will be really small if the decision has been made at this point.
  13. I don’t believe that Chaifetz was the main booster involved with Biondi in shanking Brad.
  14. I don’t think Brad’s termination went down in exactly the way you described. I, also, think there is a chance May’s replacement is already working in the athletic department and isn’t named Janet.
  15. I didn’t know where to put this, but I need to get this off my chest. Jon Rothstein’s X feed is a crime against humanity.
  16. I don't think it ever got brought up on here, but Bol decommitted from Florida and ended up signing with Ole Miss.
  17. I think a lot of the movement we will see this off season will be programs moving on from guys they don’t believe fit the NIL environment. I think more coaches than believed are in danger of getting fired because of that reason.
  18. Speaking of Altman, his seat is getting really warm. He might have to make the tournament to keep his job and they would probably be on the outside looking in today.
  19. It is even more than 60-70k now. Just checked IBEW Local 1's journeymen pay three years ago was over $40 dollars per hour that goes on your paycheck, plus $28 an hour in fringe benefits like healthcare and pension. You work 1,700 hours and you are looking at just under $120k in total compensation. Pretty damn good while incurring no debt and earning $30-45K a year going through the apprenticeship program.
