  1. When you motto is at least we aren't San Francisco or St. Louis, you got to be doing something right.
  2. Something always seemed strange about Jakobsze's hiring. Guy left Mizzou to start his own practice. Then he takes the same job he had at Mizzou at smaller athletic department, in a much smaller conference and with a much smaller portfolio. That isn't normally how these things work. There is nothing I have heard about him getting forced out at Mizzou. The reports I have heard were that he was good at his job, but maybe I haven't talked to the right people. From the outside, it looks like he took a job that he believed or hoped would fast track him for a big promotion.
  3. My heart wants the team to make a run so badly. I have already figured out how it is going to happen. It may or may not involve Holmes breaking his leg.
  4. This is a really interesting piece of information. It leads me to believe something definitely changed late with the plan. Maybe they thought they were going to be able to announce something else at the same time as Ford's termination and that fell apart.
  5. I thought it would be Webster first. I think this is just the beginning of a reckoning for many schools across the country.
  6. Schertz in one way reminds me of a young Bruce Weber. It sure isn't the style of play, but with how bad Schertz supposedly wants the job. Weber's time has now passed, but Weber desperately wanted the the SLU job when both Romar and Soderberg were hired. Weber thought the job was the perfect fit for him. SLU passed on him both times. If they would have hired Weber on either of those occasions, especially following Spoon, SLU might (probably?) makes the Big East cut in 2005. Romar without a doubt was a good hire, but Bruce Weber would have been the great hire. I think there is something to be said about a coach who really does view the job as the perfect fit for himself.
  7. I freely admit I like certain guys more than others, but we are just talking just subtle differences in the names most commonly believed to be the in the running for the job. I would be happy with any of those guys getting the job. I just hope they don't get played along by someone as other candidates go off the board. McCollum would make me the happiest, but I have accepted the fact that a D2 coach is probably viewed as too big of a reach. I don't anyone thinks this should be finished by now, but I really was hoping the Ford not coaching during the tournament story was true. I do think if Chris Mack is/was their top choice, they should know where they stand with him at this point. He currently doesn't have a job, so there are less complications. If he was the top guy the should have made their best offer to him already and if he didn't say yes, it is time to move on from him. You can't play games and get strong along by a guy saying something like, "I can't commit to you while someone still has the job."
  8. If I'm OU and know someone desperately wants my coach, I'm getting the money. Barring a first round Big 12 exit they are in the tournament. No need to force the change now before you get you're new AD unless someone is willing to pay for Moser's replacement.
  9. If Moser ends up being the guy, this could drag out for a long time. His buyout if he takes another job is $6 million until April 1. It then drops. Not sure how much.
  10. If you are Dusty May do you take a higher perceived name job or do you take the Miami job if Larrañaga decides to retire? I would be tempted to stay in south Florida.
  11. Just hope the people making the decision realize if they are being used for leverage and if they are they quickly move on to the next guy before the next guy comes to some kind of agreement somewhere else. I don't care about hiring the biggest name we can get. We need to hire the right guy to coach this program right now. The college basketball world is completely different than it was even 2 years ago.

  13. Heading into today Indiana St was at 29 in the NET. Drake was at 46. I think ISU has to be a lock at this point even without having a marquee win to point to, but you can never feel to safe when you are in a P6. Drake probably has to win even with a 19 point win against Nevada who is definitely in.
  14. So now we watch the future Billikens.
  15. The one where they then made the three? Yeah, that was a killer.
  16. This announcing team is really good.
