  1. I want a board that calls emergency meetings in support of athletics/athletes/winning.
  2. I like the idea in an "out of the box" way. I don't think this part would necessarily be true. You still need conference officials on the ground at some level as well as enough folks to handle a lot of schools and their needs. I would also kick some of the no-loads out and add in some of the midwestern private schools Belmont, Drake, Bradley, etc. to create a better nationwide swath.
  3. Another missed SLU opportunity from missing the tournament so many years.
  4. Neither conference is paying meaningful money out in TV revenue. Both conferences have similar “some of our games are on espn/2/u” deals. A10 hs a deal with cbs sports network while MVC has(had?) a deal with the Bally sports networks/NBC Chicago to broadcast games. None of those deals are paying much. The biggest benefit is the exposure. MVC has more espn games but CBS Sports Net > Bally/NBCChicago nationally. The Bally/NBC deal is better regionally though.
  5. Yeah this is the point. The A10 champ and MVC champ are generally about equal most years. A 4th place team in the A10 is a lot like a 4th place team in the MVC. There may be an interesting argument about maintaining the same budget but cutting travel expenses by 50%+ and how that could be reinvested into programs via recruiting, facilities, amenities, etc.
  6. Ezewiro will be sitting. No way it is getting approved unless some denial files a lawsuit and the NCAA gets cold feet.
  7. This is probably the reason. But it doesn't really hold with no teams being within a short drive time. Loyola and Dayton are on the longer end of what you would want to bus to in general. Putting them on weeknights is actually worse if you are bussing there versus flying everywhere else. The team is getting to their spots a day before the game. Leaving Tuesday midday for a Wednesday evening game. So how is a 6 hour bus ride any better than a 4 hour commercial travel day? If it is a charter - even less time. If it is Olean, well fock off. I'd have to go back through the years, but it doesn't feel like there are consistently those Philly, Richmond, or DC type swings where the team is staying in the northeast for a few days to knock out 2 road games. Maybe one a year? The other reason - and I don't think this applies this year - is that weekend games tend to draw better by virtue of them being on a Saturday. SLU traveling to Loyola or Dayton should hypothetically be a better 'rivalry' draw on a weeknight than Fordham going to Dayton, for example.
  8. Eh. It’s a bad sign that it isn’t done yet. Can’t imagine it’s “just one game to finish” but several.
  9. I’m concerned that the A10 beat the noncon schedule.
  10. Isn’t every team in America in any sport undefeated except the games where they are defeated?
  11. With the unfortunate demise of the Knights Inn of Salina, Kansas, the committee has some tough decisions to make.
  12. With the unfortunate demise of the Knights Inn of Salina, Kansas, the committee has some tough decisions to make.
  13. With the unfortunate demise of the franchised Knights Inn of Salina, Kansas, the committee needs to decide whether or not to go forward at the Budget Host Inn Salina in the same location or find an additional Knights Inn.
  14. Two different threads that have veered way off topic into Danny Mac, MLS, and streaming platforms. "SLU should move to the MVC" season is right around the corner here. Make sure you have your PAYSTUBS ready for check-in at the Knights Inn.
  15. The reality of the situation is that Apple TV+ isn't nearly as ubiquitous as even ESPNU. There is a new tech barrier to entry on it. Having a primary "TV" package on Apple isn't a great move for a league that only has the current fans seeking it out. If the NFL moved Sunday ticket or similar to exclusively AppleTV+, you'd have people seeking out AppleTV+ at a greater rate. MLS doesn't even come close to having that juice.
  16. Yeah that is great and all but the vast majority of the country doesn't get Apple TV+.
  17. Most of these ESPN+ deals are putting the costs of production onto the schools.
  18. Some interesting stats that go against the “portal is going to kill mid majors” narrative.
  19. Good luck enforcing any sort of clawback provision in a contract signed by a minor. That is rife with issues. I like that the guys can get paid as high school athletes, but there is no legal way to recoup lost money if 17 year old Charlie decides to go to Florida instead of SLU.
  20. Only thing is you have to have boosters that are ok with some losses. Inevitably there will be guys who bounce to a different commitment by the time they’re supposed to be on campus.
  21. That is against the (very few) rules of NIL. Realistically, none of these guys sign any contract before they're on campus anyways. He didn't have to forfeit anything. The deal fell apart because his name image and likeness isn't as valuable as it would be if he were a member of that team. He also may not be able to fulfill terms of a potential contract, like appearances, if he is not in Morgantown as a resident.
  22. I’m late but can I still throw in on the fight night PPV?
