My guess would be he deals with the money and contracts. Since we pay teams to come in and hopefully get raped by us, we have to pay them to come in and play us. He probably has to work that out and try to work flights and save money on airfair, try to avoid charter flights.

As always, the only person making it a race issue is VTIME. If you read the article in the paper, it tells how Floyd tried to bully other teams to play where he wanted and even tried to get Al Thomas fired. I personally know Al Thomas and to not like him is really hard. He is a great guy and just shows that Floyd is a jerk. He uses these kids for the 4 years then tries to tell them where to go to school often playing the race card himself. He pulls teams off courts when he's not getting what he wants. He is a prime example of what you don't want in high schools and in high school sports. It wouldn't matter if half his team couldn't read, as long as they had a sweet J it would be find with Floyd.

So you can cheat all you want, bully all the other teams in the league, and steal school money but it's ok since he wins games? I'm pretty sure I could win a few state titles if you give me all the players he's had. It's more a product of the talent level, not coach that made the V what it is. Maybe in memorial, the V players can pull themselves off the court during a game.

Thanks for the pick up. I also think that we don't have any JUCOs because of our recent experiences. Neither Tom or V contributed what we expected. Tom was great his Junior year but injured his whole senior year and didn't contribute much. VN just never worked out. He was a nice kid and decent player but we didn't get what we wanted from him. JUCOs are hard because you have a limited time to teach them your offense and defense and to mold them into the player you're looking for. With the project players like Obi and Bryce, they get to come in for 5 years (with the redshirt) and the coaches get to teach them their offense and defense as well as practice with the team. I think it makes more sense to have a project player who you can coach and work with rather then a player who might be gone before they can learn the system. Prep schoolers are also a great deal. They get another year to grow and work on their game before coming to SLU. Going to a great prep school like Tommie did gave him a great year to work on his game and his body.

We had one last year and two the year before that with VN and Tom Frericks.

Thanks for proving my point that Soderberg has been the receiver of some luck in getting those players. Whatever you want to believe, coach didn't come in and woo them with our great education and killer gym, but there was more going on there then coach could encourage. There are several thinkgs that Coach didn't do to make them come here, but the players thought about stuff on their own. Lisch is catholic, so is SLU. UNLV is far from the East side and Tommie likes having his brothers (if he has any) or sisters (if he has any) or mom or dad or friends at the game. Maybe Ian came to SLU because other schools already had a tall Greek on the roster or maybe he liked the Arch a lot. Recruiting comes down to these features that can either lead a kid to SLU or away from SLU, I really liked the whole Larry Hughes mention.

Since when did Beane's and Randall's recruiting abilities become Brad's recruiting abilities? All i'm trying to do is point out that coach has been lucky with those players. Take them away and we aren't a good team. I give credit when credit is due and I feel that coach shouldn't be getting all the credit on this one.

Do you think Kevin's sister is impressed with the women's basketball team? Kevin and Tommie both came to SLU because they were from the area and wanted to stay close to home. Kevin and Tommie both like playing in front of their family and friends, that is why they wear Blue and White. All Brad had to do was not F it up and he had this two players. SLU and a couple smaller schools looked at Voyoukas but it was Lance Randall who really did the job of finding Ian. Lance coached in Europe and came to SLU with knowledge of Ian. Believe what you want, coach is a nice enough guy and did a good enough job of not turning these players away from SLU more then he did in attracting them.

Good to see that schools such as Duquesne and St. Bonnie's can beat us. Both these schools were 13th and 14th in the conference standings and I think both had less then 8 wins. Another way to show that Soderberg can't recruit. Once again he's living off the fab 3 Lisch and Liddell and Vouyoukas whom he lucked into.

I've seen it too much where these kids think that their shi*** don't stink then they get a communications degree and fail at life cause they don't have skills they thought they needed cause they had basketball and the caoch said they were the best player ever. Does anyone know when the Arena is actually going to be started. The only thing that has gone on schedule with the whole project is the sign telling where the new arena will be. I was wondering if anyone knows when that sign will be valid. Also, is there a name for the building yet and if anyone knows what companies have been contacted. Also, Coach and Ian are the bestest friends ever. I have seen them holding hands several times around campus and sharing some ice cream.

These are all possible reasons that might not make sense to us but to him it might make the difference. Everyone here hopes Ian doesn't leave, but if that's what he wants then we can't stop him. We have a few young guys we could push to the starting line up, but it would be a big blow if he leaves. With him gone, we will be decent again, but that is all that we hope for at this University anyways.
