  1. The coaches are not neutral. You can't wish away the Quin Snyder era at Mizzou. In major college basketball the most talented players in the country will be pieces of crap if they are poorly coached. You know what that makes Gardner, McKinney, Brown and rest of Quin's collection of so called "top 100" talent? Right now this bunch of jokers couldn't beat the little sisters of the poor if the nuns gave them 20. So it doesn't make any difference if Thomas Gardner is the second coming of MJ; they would find a way to lose. It's the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.
  2. 3379 average attendance at GW is truly pathetic. The other interesting aspect of the attendance figures is that the three westernmost schools cream all the easterners figures. I'm sure they would say that it's because we have nothing else to do. Billikens will win the A-10 in 06-07 and move into a 12,000 seat facility in November 2008. (That's if we can all step up and buy a brick)
  3. This game almost makes me forget sitting in the Market Square Arena in Indy for the MCC Finals. (87 or 88) With one minute to go and the game in the balance Stan Kimbrough picked the rock from Jim Roder for an easy layup. Speaking of which, is Xavier thinks they're going to win anything with that little slow white kid, Wolf, playing significant minutes they've got another thing coming. It was a dominating performance by the Thrillikens. They let Thornton get his and shut everyone else down. Burrell was nonexistent. Bills rule!
  4. I really don't have any problem with Timmerman in general, but has anyone noticed the further disintegration of the Post-Dispatch? A lack of competition and the sale from Pulitzer to Lee has the paper looking more like a Suburban Journal than a major city daily. On the plus side, there is more than $75 of coupons inside.
  5. I haven't paid to park at a Billikens game since Larry Hughes was leading us to the NCAA's. However, if you are so inclined there is a cheap lot that is an immediate left when you get off at the 11th street exit off of 40 East.
  6. There are coupons in the entertainment 2006 book that most grade school kids sell that offer two mezzanine end tickets for the price of one. I think those are the $9 seats although I'm not sure. Anyway, once you get in you can sit in the lower bowl on either end section; no one will bother you. They're just happy to have you at the game. If you are loud, I'll be happy too. Billiken games are notorious for septugenarian crowds that don't make a peep. The ticket offer is on page C64 and is also good for the Rhode Island game.
  7. I can put up with negative messages; I have a tendency to scream at the team myself during games when their play is more excruciating than getting a tooth pulled. What I do have a problem with is the dude's obvious lack of intelligence. I was drawn to this message board because people have a tendency to write in complete sentences with correct spelling. You see, when you're around .500 it's always fun to at least believe that you and your friends are smarter than other people. Well, Billikenman, if you graduated from SLU or are going there now you have shot that concept all to hell. Thanks alot, loser. If you love Boone County so much, by all means move there permanently.
  8. Speaking of the Berkshire Eagle, what is going on with Wahconah Park and Jim Bouton's attempt to rehab? I really enjoyed Foul Ball; Pittsfield must be an interesting place.
  9. Billikenman, try to use this forum as an opportunity to use proper spelling and grammar. Not only are your suppositions idiotic, you make yourself look like a moron with your poor spelling and incoherent thought processes. Of course we need to depend on recruits desire to stay close to home, you nitwit. Have you ever been to the West Pine Gym? At this point in time the only thing Brad is selling regarding great facilities is a computer generated drawings. And why are you bashing the Blue crew? They're showing up and making noise, which is more than can be said for the rest of aarp dominated crowd.
  10. The only thing that is going to get students to the game is being able to walk to the arena and back. At that point some strategy to get them to come is appropriate. SLU isn't a school that is jam packed with sports crazed idiots like you or me. The only strategy to get all the students to come is to win one hell of alot of games so walking to the on campus arena is the thing to do. Until then you're tilting at windmills.
  11. I would hope that every SLU basketball geek like myself who posts on this board has given money to the Arena fund. I've given $20 for the last three years because it's all I can afford. Billikan, I appreciate your passion and your donation, and I believe that people have a tendency to make stuff up, but you have to admit that it would be easy to believe that Father Biondi doesn't exactly have the arena high on his priority list. For SLU fans it's been like we have been wandering around in the desert for 40 years. Hell, it's been longer than 40 years. West Pine gym hasn't been suitable for the Billikens since long before our NIT championship. Like last nights game it is just really frustrating.
  12. While I agree theat the idiots who call in to gloss Slaten the king are pathetic, and that Slaten is obnoxious, I think he has actually softened his attacks on the Billikens. I guarantee you that over on Tiger board they are attacking him for villifying Mizzou and pandering to Billiken fans because his station is carrying the games. Just remember that the whole thing is an act. By the way, did anyone catch the call made today by one Stephen Einspanier, a.k.a. "The Mizzou Nitwit". Slaten and Rammer carved that lightweight up like the Thanksgiving turkey! This guy has been on a rampage for years against any attention paid to SLU at the expense of his beloved Tigers. Unfortunately for him he lacks the brainpower to put together cogent thoughts, and hangs himself out to dry every time he calls a talk show or puts pen to paper in the sound off section. If that's the best MU has to offer Billiken fans have nothing to worry about.
  13. Our band does rule. It all stems back to the days when we were a 15 to 20 piece jazz band playing the charts that we played at our concerts along with a few pep band songs. Mike has taken that same sensibility and molded an awesome pep band. It is because of him that the band is so much fun. He still has the same amount of fun he did 21 years ago when we blew doors at Kiel. Some day after we move into our new building I'll sit in with my old buddy Perry; he really needs me. By the way, is Steck still playing? I'd love to pound some coldies with that dude.
