  1. That means very little. This year nearly 1000 players were nominated.
  2. Would like him to choose SLU, but with one scholarship left, there will be other quality transfers or HS players available this spring. But he sure is the type of player we need. A big 3 who can shoot!
  3. Nice to see Scout raise Brett Jolly to a 3 star. Yes, I know these ratings don't always mean much, but it shows that Jolly is catching the attention of some folks even after signing with SLU. Normally if a kid signs with SLU his ratings don't rise.
  4. Don't know much about him, but SCOUT reports that Jeff Robertson, a 6-6 small forward out of Dallas, Texas (Triple A Academy) has been offered by SLU. The kid must be bright as he also has offers from Davidson, Rice and Harvard.
  5. Crawford has looked good in the few "mop-up" appearances he has had but I cannot see him displacing JB anytime soon. Most college teams have an 8 or 9 player rotation. We have the five seniors and two juniors as the core. With the abundance of guards (MM, JJ, AM, JB), MC will have trouble getting minutes unless SLU has injury issues. More likely, TL and RA will continue to be the freshmen that see meaningful minutes because of the need they fulfill. All three freshmen are players and will be important components in 2014-15.
  6. I watched UMass beat Clemson last night. Pretty good looking team with wins over LSU, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Clemson. We all need to be cheering on the other A10 teams to win as many games against top 100 RPI teams as possible. With a weakened A10, SLU could easily get in trouble with its RPI with a couple of unexpected losses to lesser teams. Let's start taking care of business with Wisconsin and then hopefully WVU and get our RPI up as high as possible. Right now ------ SLU sits at #147 in the RPI rankings after playing five very week squads.
  7. My understanding is this is one of only three Billiken games not on TV this season. Hopefully there will be a radio feed.
  8. Yes, but in a weaker A10, should we strengthen our out of conference schedule?
  9. I'm all for playing regional rivals, but in a weaker A10, can our RPI handle another low RPI team? Now, if SLU gets in the RPI stronger Big East, then bring them on!!!
  10. Anyone know what station the Billiken games are on this year. Thought it was ESPN 101 but don't find it streaming.
  11. Don't think your fourth statement is accurate according to my research. Roster for 2007-08 follows: Player Class Pos Ht Danny Brown SR G 6-4 Barry Eberhardt JR F 6-7 Paul Eckerle FR G 6-1 Bryce Husak SR C 7-0 Peyton Jacks SR G 6-0 Mike Jones SO G 5-9 Adam Knollmeyer SO F 6-9 Tommie Liddell JR G 6-4 Kevin Lisch JR G 6-2 Luke Meyer SR F 6-5 Anthony Mitchell FR F 6-4 Dwayne Polk SR G 5-10 Marcus Relphorde FR F 6-7 Note that we had 4 seniors + Eckerle who was a walk-on and not guaranteed a scholarship + Mike Jones and Peyton Jacks (walk-ons). That's seven. RM signed 7 that year based on my research (Cassidy, Conklin, John, Mitchell, Reed, Thompson and Cotto). Daniel Lisch was given a one-year scholarship also but only after one became available with the transfers. Brad Soderberg did not leave RM much to work with.
  12. Hope we use all six of the scholarships this fall signing period. That doesn't mean the coaching staff can't keep working on 2014 prospects in case of a transfer. After all, next signing period is not until April. A lot can happen in six months. The staff should keep in touch with prime 2014 prospects in case someone does leave, but focus on coaching the team to a successful season and identifying and building relationships with 2015 prospects. But SLU should not over-sign. That is a sleezy practice in my opinion. SLU does not need that reputation with prospective recruits.
  13. Thanks, Dam. Guess I have got to get the expanded sports package.
  14. I've found links to the schedule that show tv games but see no Fox games listed. Does anyone have an updated link showing all TV games scheduled including Fox. My cable company just added Fox Sports 1 and want to see how many games are on it before I buy the expanded sports package from my cable company.
  15. I've caught a SLU - Duquesne game a couple of times over the years on Root Sports Pittsburgh, a Fox Sports Network station. It airs all of the Pittsburgh Pirate and Pittsburgh Penquin games as well as many regional college basketball and football games. Unfortunately Duquesne basketball is way down the "food chain" and so their games are not aired if there is a higher profile game available like the Penquins, Pitt, WVU, etc. In other words, it has to be a slow day in sports to show their games.
  16. We We have NOT signed anyone, can't until November! Let's hope we hold the 3 VERBAL commits and add at 2 more this fall.
  17. Yes, but my point was that most 4 and 5 star recruits sign with a team in a power conference. I am not going to look up all the draft choices you list but my guess many were not 4 or 5 star recruits out of HS. Which just goes to show how many two and three star recruits are out there that have the potential to be an NBA talent but that talent is not recognized when they are HS seniors. And then there are those mid-majors that do get the occasional 4 star recruit like Memphis, Xavier and Gonzaga. These teams compete with the power conference teams because of their successful track record. And because of this success Memphis and Xavier is moving up to power conferences. SLU is on track to be one of these successful mid-major programs and now partially because of this success we are getting better recruits. Get in the NCAA's again this year, and maybe then into the Big East, and this will lead to even more success and perhaps recruits like Mr. Tatum.
  18. Larry Hughes and his love for his little brother was a rare exception.
  19. I said most. Yes, there are exceptions, but those are few.
  20. My opinion is Tatum does not go to SLU if we are still in the A10. Most 4 & 5 star prospects want to play in power conferences. Like it or not, the Big East is a power conference, the A10 is not. You are either clueless or smoking dupe if you think he goes to an A10 SLU !!!
  21. Only chance to get Tatum is if we are in the Big East.
  22. Actually I am not. See the post I made recently. I still want another point guard. My wish list is Martin, a power forward big, AND YES Posted by WVBilliken on 17 September 2013 - 06:53 PM in Billikens.com Main Board My wish list for the last 3 scholarships:A big power forward A long athletic 3 Another point guard College basketball is guard dominated. Can't have too many who can handle the ball, score and defend!
  23. Listener of the Streets list of prospects says "Martin visited SLU the weekend of 9/7". Is this correct? If he is now coming back a second time for an official visit, then this is good news for SLU. Does anybody know if this will in fact be Martin's second visit to SLU?
