  1. Nobody knows what is going on but there is a chance that FF has said that he's talking to SLU or the hiring firm and told Katz that (his colleague). I would guess that Katz's source on this occasion is much better than ours.
  2. What a turd of a plan B. This guy was not a big winner at St. Johns and he sure wasn't at New Mexico (3 NITs, no NCAAs). Add to that he's a gold digger and was basically fired at St. John's for flirting with the opening at Arizona State along with abusing his players and his coaching staff. Personally I hate retreads, I would rather have Gillick than some "Nasty manipulative little man." whose been a career assistant and is much disliked by his peers and former assistants and players. Here is an article on him from Redmen.com, St.John's fan website that basically highlights who he is. http://redmen.com/article31.html
  3. I said it another place but he's pathological about this job flirting, he can't help himself and he loves the attention. No way he comes here. I would be upgrading the season tickets if he does but I don't have to worry about it.
  4. I would love to have Majerus, no one questions the idea that he is a winner and can turn any program around. However, I think he's pathological about this flirting with Universities and it's just to stroke his ego. He might be here for a visit but he's not coming to stay.
  5. I've never seen another team take the last minute loses his teams did and keep bouncing back game after game where I thought they were definetly going to fold. There were alot of ups and downs but one thing about his teams was that they always played hard. Wish the defense had been as good in his 5th season as it was the first 4 years.
  6. A few years of being (outcoached) in the NBA along with his success at Standford, he'd be ready to give this program the next push. I imagine he's a better coach now than a few years ago (see NBA)and he could always recruit at Standford. HIRE MONTY!
  7. Bonner would be a mistake, he certainly didn't overachieve with his Vashon team. We have no idea of his work ethic as far as recruting or getting his team prepared. Jarvis ended in a disaster and is a horrible in game coach. Go with a young guy with some charisma whose won a conference title or made the NCAAs. Don't waste time with a retread.
  8. ::Yawn::, way overrated. He's a guy who gets by because he's bigger and more physically mature than his opponents. If you saw that o'fallon got to the state finals and were impressed, remember it was not against the chicago schools-they beat each other to get to the finals. I just was not impressed watching him. I don't see what he would add to SLU. BTW, he's not a point guard and he didn't play one this year.
  9. In this case it didn't matter, no one was saying anything and it wasn't on his record because it happened when he was underage. It's easy to see that if everyone(counselor, coaches, family) were pulling for him that no one would say a word about it. Probably, hoped that he'd get his life together and make something for himself.
  10. Seems almost like a made-for-TV movie. Had everything in the palm of his hand and it went down the toilet. He's a product of his enviornment more than anything-i.e. sounds like mom thinks he was just following his buddies.
  11. He is a huge hot head, much like P.J. Carlesimo or Bobby Knight and his underachievers will take it but when he's gotten decent recruits they've turned on him. I was at UT when alot of this stuff came out about his personality. Personally, I'd hate to have him as my team's coach becuase it is only a matter of time before everything sours for him. He wears out his welcome.
  12. Not exactly the mecha of culture, it is a poor desolate state. There just isn't alot around the campus and unless your constantly flying out to D.C. or NY City you've really got nothing do will all that money. I would be willing to bet that Manhattan, KS is a alot more appealing to the family than W.V..
  13. Arkansas hires Altman: Hogs pick Creighton coach to replace fired Heath. I'm really surprised about this one, almost from left field. I assumed that Altman was the messiah of the mid-majors, build a program and stay there forever-guess not. And the MVC loses a big time coach/name.
  14. There is no way that going to New Mexico is on the same level of the University of Iowa and Big 10 basketball. It may be the only game in town but the level of competition, the conference, the media coverage and the school income is not anywhere near the U of Iowa. Win 20+ games in Iowa your probably going to the NCAA tournament, win 20+ games at New Mexico and nobody outside of New Mexico cares-and you probably still have to win the MWC tournament.
  15. Talk about a vertical move. Wow, go from the big-10 to MWC, huge drop off.
  16. Said the same thing in Novemember. The whole coaching tree from Weber on down really understands man to man defense. I would love to see SIUE beat Kansas.
  17. Wisconsin is clamping down defensively, foul situation (bonus) could save TAM CC in the first half.
  18. The center for Stanford is supposed to be a 1st rounder too. Wow, he'a awful and uncordinated, it is a shame that IV just didn't have the big year he needed to move his stock.
  19. SLU has 9 open scholarships between this year and next, who cares if they miss with one? This team desperately needs a 6'5'' player who can defend in the post and run the lanes in transition. If you've watched the Billikens in the A-10, they've been eaten alive by these types of guys.
  20. No reason not to pass the ball up the court. Tommie has shown that he can't handle pressure defense. The ISO at the end is the stupidest play ever. How many times have you seen an NCAA tournament game or NBA game go to OT or end when they dribble the ball at the top of the key and launch up a brick or an air ball. Arizona vs. IL two years ago (stoudamire hits backboard at the end), Michigan State vs. Kentucky two years ago, and a few in the tournament last year. It is a total cop-out call by the coach and the fans respond, "I had no problem with what we did, we had it in our best player's hands." Yes, but not in a position where he has the advantage over the defense. That ISO call reminds me of the 'prevent defense' calls with 2 minutes left in an NFL game. It wasn't like UMASS was running a half court trap and we really needed to worry about turning the ball over once it was over the end line. Why wouldn't the ball go to IV in this situation? If he gets the ball he's likely to get fouled or atleast attempt a gimme basket, or even throw out to Liddell for a drive/shot.
  21. Crazy FT disparity, this team has to get IV and Liddell, Lisch going to the basket to draw fouls and get some easy points.
  22. Lol, I knew he was really good. Congrats to him, hope he makes it to a few games next year then.
  23. Anyone know who the black guy is that is the drummer (on occasion) for the pep band? He's shown up at about 3+ games this year. I'm always disappointed when he's not there, the pep band just isn't as raucous. The Billiken club needs to donate some money to free him up so they can get this guy at all of the home games. Free the band.
  24. Fun game, Lisch looked good with the ball in his hands, its amazing what court vision will do for an offense, whole team seemed smoother tonight. Not alot of ball massaging. Lisch has played great 'D' for the last 3 games, all at home, and is making a difference at both ends of the floor. J.J. was aggressive tonight, didn't shy away from the hoop. Hopefully some of that rubs off on IV. Solid, expected win.
