  1. I am out of town until Monday. My sister is Graduation from the big NU (Northwestern University Go Wildcats!). Guess there is one Rogers out of College and One into college. There shouldn't be any problems with the board, but if there are, I may be able to check my e-mail occasionally, but do not count on it. Hope you all can live without the SignGuy. Steve
  2. Taj- I love this part of your post: >Next season notwithstanding, I am looking down the line to >where I would like the team to be. My expectations are to >go to the NCAA more often than not so as our appearances >become more of an expected occurrence as opposed to a >freaking, once-a-decade celebration of a one-and-out game. That is the epitimy of Billiken Fandom. The good stuff doesn't happen often, but when it does, boy do we get excited! Steve
  3. What does the beat writer do in the offseason? Has he been shifted over to baseball or what? I am not criticizing, just wondering what they do. Steve
  4. 13.. http://www.billikens.com/predictions.html Steve
  5. Roy- Man, I am sorry for the lack of power. Mine was out from about 5pm Tuesday to 6pm Wednesday. Thank god I was out (like out doing things) until Midnight, or I would have died of boredom. Although it did allow for me to be productive. My room is the cleanest it has been in a few years Steve
  6. Wasn't there some talk about Sloan and Izik flipping positions on Offense and Defense. Like Sloan would play the 4 Offensively and 3 Defensively or vise versa (forgot which player would do what) with Izik playing the alternative position? Wouldn't that add to some of Sloans minutes? Steve
  7. Because my Spring Break is the week of the First and Second rounds. I was hoping it would be the same week as the Conference Tournament, but I guess I couldn't be that lucky. Also, DeSmetBilliken, on C-USA talk you said you like the new West County to the Galleria. The food court is much better (even though I like Pizza USA (or whatever it is called) better than Sbarros) but all west county is good for is for Women 13 and younger or 45 and older. One of my guy friends who is a clothes hound figured out in that mall that there are only 7 stores that sell mens clothes, and one ONE of them is men's only. And that is including Men's Express. Just wondering what you like about West County? Steve
  8. I don't think many people would want me to pull this Message Board over to the side of the road. The bloody thing was already in the shop for a Month, and it just got going again. hehe, I do love that the message board has had about 11000 posts over the past year. And our TOP Two posters: Triangle and Too: 1050 Posts billiken_roy: 2865 Posts Where would our board be without 'em! You gotta love Billikens.com! Steve
  9. Some kids these days... The youth doesn't understand the rules of the NCAA. You just can sign shoe deals and expect to get to play College Basketball... When will they ever learn? http://markwalker.reebok.com/ Steve This may just kill Brad's 2019 Recruiting Class
  10. Roy, here you go: http://www.billikens.com/stats.htm I didn't even realize I didn't have it anymore, I will fix it tonight or tomorrow. Steve
  11. Yeah, we have a wait ahead of us before we get the Schedule. Although, the posters of this board are amazing hunters and detectives (no pun intended to "thedetective"). We usually figure out the scheduele a few weeks earlier by checking other team's sites with their released schedueles. Steve
  12. Cindy Anzelmo, SLU's Director of Academic Services, has departed to take a similar job at Arizona State. Another round of wedding bells: St. Louis U. basketball player Ross Varner was married to Lacey Clarkson in Phoenix, Ariz. on May 15. And former Billiken Ryan Luechtefeld will marry Alicia Ricketts at St. Francis Xavier (the college church) on Saturday. . Another SLU employee leaves SLU. There seems to have been a lot of turnover. And Wedding Bells. Steve
  13. I am nervous about this Creighton vs. SLU deal. Especially if Notre Dame (the media leverager (at least that is how I read it)) is lobbying for Creighton. Maybe Dayton will help us out because from what I have read on this board, we have played them every year because they got the shaft in the last Conference Shake up. Correct me if I am wrong on that note. The Conference looks great for basketball, but I think I would still prefer some of the Catholic Conferences layouts. One thing I really do not like is the mandatory games at Madison Square Garden. That is VERY unfavorable to the Western Division in that post. St. Louisians would have to go to NEW YORK? No way! This is a very interesting situation. Let's see how Woolard does. Steve
  14. I would kill for GWU to be in the same division as the Billikens. (Although it would be a downgrade for the Billikens) For the Billikens to come to GW once a year would be amazing. Hey, let's make the REAL SignGuy Dream Conference and throw American, Georgetown, and GW in there. And I get to see at least 3 games a year in DC. Heck, let them play the Wizards, next year they are going to suck if Stackhouse leaves. hehehe, Steve
  15. Good news, on the new server you can now e-mail each other simply by clicking the little e-mail icon in the upper right hand corner of messages. (If you hold your mouse over the icons, they will tell you want they do eventually (if there is any confusion)). ALSO. I think Private Messages work well. I know I have said this about a thousand times over the past year. But maybe this is it!!! (crossing fingers). Also, my little anchored topic about registration, it would be appreciated if no one replied to it (I removed the replies (and to the thank you's, your welcome). This is so it takes less space (in terms of screen) and it can still be anchored so visitors who return to Billikens.com (when they realize it is actually up again). As for the main site, that may not get back to looking normal for a few weeks (end of high school and I don't think it is a high priority for people to know who had the most steals of the 1988 Billikens, if it is, e-mail me, I will help you out, ). So lets just think of the past month as a little coma for Billikens.com, and it is getting its strength back over the next few weeks). That is all from the desk of Steve, if you have any registration problems. Hollar, I have everyone's old passwords printed out, and I can register you pretty quickly (I would do all of them, but that is 232 Registrations, and, yeah... That isn't happening). Steve
  16. Someone e-mailed this to me concerning my "What is a Billiken?" Page: Dear web. master, It was originally created in 1908 by the Craftsman's Guild in Highland Park Illinois. It seems to be based directly on the Japanese "Piriken or "Pilliken" of Osaka The Billiken was created in 1908 in USA, and it came to Japan in around 1910. In 1912, the Luna ParkA a Japanese version of Disney Land was eastablished in Osaka. In the "white tower" in the Luna Park, this american god was enshrined, and therefore, it is clear that American Billiken was not based on the Japanese " Piriken " of Osaka. He is a true-born american. I have one question. The Craftsman's Guild in Highland Park Illinois was making some Billiken dolls for E.I. Horsman Co. ? It is very clear that they are distributedf and sold by E.I. Horsman Co. Another publication of your University says that Dorothy Jean Ray, writer and historian found the secret of Billiken. It is very clear that it was originated by Florence Pretz. The popular belief about Billiken in Japan and osaka are also confusing. One od them is "Billiken was created by an american lady sculptor E.I. Horsman base on a figure which appreared in her dream ! This is an invention which we Japanese like. There are too many such legends in Japan. Craftsman's Guild of what ? the dolls or wood carvings, or ceramics ? This is my another question. Yours sincerely, Hiroaki Sasaki ---------------------------- Anyone know of Billiken evidence before 1908?
