  1. That is very true, I am unsure if there are any females that post on this board (not trying to be sexist, I am just not aware of any) (although my mother does check in on the board occasionally). But welcome to the board, it is always nice to have a perspective of someone who is on the recruit side of things. The information you have already given us would be a very tough find on any recruiting site, since you don't know if there is a bias on the site or not. Welcome! Steve
  2. I think the university has expressed quite a commitment to the basketball program with the new arena. What else can we really ask of them. They have been tight lipped about the Conference realignment, but I haven't heard loads of information out of Depaul or Marquette. I am nervous about the realignment, but I doubt Biondi will let a program (Men's Basketball) that he is investing a lot of money into drivel away into insignificance. Steve
  3. What I love is that the poster saying this board was obsessed with Mizzou got the web address wrong. We haven't been at Billikenboard.com in 2 years... Now that guy is a smart one... Steve
  4. Yep, I did what you sent, but tseugnekillib's problems were 5 days old according to him. So it may have been messed up from earlier. I was able to fix him very quickly. (Hopefully, unless he still can't login). Steve PS Would you just like to host the things that you are hosting on tedministries.org/sports just on Billikens.com, I can give you your own little directory. Like billikens.com/thicks, and then you can e-mail me whatever you want, and I will just upload it into there.
  5. Oh no way that our recruits are better than the others. But I just don't think it is fair to classify them as 3rd or 4th Tier. Steve
  6. I am not the biggest Romar lover when it came to his recruiting ability, but is it fair to say that his recruits were 2 or 3rd tier. I am not saying that they didn't turn out that way. But McClain and Edwin were both top 100 recruits on some lists if I recall. Many seemed satisfied with Pulley's ability as a PG for his freshman year (well, when he was on our team). Fisher is a quality player. Would you really want to know what this team would be like without Sloan? He is a 3 playing a 4, and without him doing so we would be a little screwed. We are worried to an extent if Brown's abilities will be replaced. Varner is the only dud, and he was a transfer, and it pretty much looks like he is using basketball for the free education (Mr. 4.0) and how can someone blame him for that? Hollins was considered to be a very nice pickup if I recall. And McKinney's friend (forgot his name, Kern?) I don't think was considered that shabby. Romar's legacy would have been much better if Edwin and Pulley stayed. And Hollins decided to come to SLU. Yes he was the bridesmaid too much, and didn't seem to recruit St. Louis well enough (he stuck to his West Coast ties it seemed). I just don't think it is a fair statement to call Romar's recruits 3rd and 4th tier. When they were still recruits, they were not considered that. (I am defending Romar to Roy...Boy, I never thought this day would come ) Steve
  7. Okie doke, I said I would do it. So I will. And just to spice it up, it will be in poetic form: a man who has 338 post as of this day, would like a personal welcome to make him go yay, he certainly deserves one like many others, from DesmetBilliken and Rich's Billikens.com brothers, but back to Rich, the man of the moment, on billikens.com he is a valuable component, this year he is a little more optimistic than last, maybe he borrowed Roy's tinted glasses and hat, speaking of Roy they often go at it, and most of the time it is a interesting bit, Rich is a friendly fellow and quite a pal, even going out of his way to give slu72 a decal, without Rich the forum would not be the same, his opinion is enjoyed when talking about last years games, so Rich I hope welcomed is the feeling you have, while I finished up my creative rhymes and jazz, How was that? Am I am young gruehls? hehe Steve
  8. Now the first one does have profanity, but I think it is a little funny. The second it just humorous: http://www.10-7.com/humor/photopages/freeway.jpg http://www.defectiveyeti.com/archives/000690.html View at your own enjoyment. Steve
  9. I would just like to extend a little bit of a welcome to you. You seem to be very knowledgible about recruiting and basketball. And I know people come here a lot of the time hoping to hear about recruits. So pretty much, welcome to Billikens.com and thanks to sharing your knowledge with us. It is always good to have another person informing the uninformed. You are helping make Billikens.com a better message board, and I thank you for that. I hope no one else is offended that I did not welcome them in the same way, I just thought it would be appropriate since Jalensdad seems to be a great source of information, and I know how many of us love that stuff. (I am not trying to imply that anyone is not a good source, or as good as Jalensdad, just trying to welcome a new poster.) hehe, if you really are offended, I will write you a welcome message if you wish. It is summer, I have some free time on my hands I suppose (but I am not writing 100+ welcomes, especially for posters that have been around longer than I, how many are there really, who was there the opening day of Nark's Billikenboard.com [when the SignGuy started posting]). Wow, this turned into a longer post than expected. Steve
  10. Woo I did it!!! That made no sense, but do computers ever make sense? Especially Microsoft... I mean seriously.. Steve
  11. This is so wierd. I just deleted myself, and brought me back... Hehehe. SluSignGuy is the newest user! I love it.. Steve
  12. Quin's recruiting sure can be questionable (very questionable), but he certainly gets some players. Sorry for asking something that has been beaten to death on this board. But does this mean we offer Shaw now? Or was it another player that we waiting for. (My mind isn't its greatest today, I am working for a friend's mom painting her basement, and I was cleaning the walls for while with water and bleach, and gotta love the fumes Steve
  13. But Fisher got his year back (thankfully). I don't know if fisher had that year back prior to the hollins release. If he didn't get the year back from pepperdine, and then we made Hollins sit. How would that make us look to pepperdine? It was pretty much the same situation, but we would be asking them to do something that we wouldn't do ourselves. But I don't think we should of made Hollins sit out a year. Even though it says on that paper, you are signing for the school not the coach. Everyone knows that the coach could easily be 70% of their decision to attend a school. I would just cut the kid some slack, I mean I know I would hate it personally if GW decided tomorrow that they will become a school that specializes in the Fine Arts instead of Humanities/Politics. But what could I do? I had already signed the paper. Would it be fair to me if I went into something advertised as one thing, but actually another. Steve
  14. David- If you could reply to the e-mail I sent to your yahoo account, it would be appreciated. I would like to work all of this out ASAP. Thanks, Steve

  16. I would love for that (making the KMOX show available) to happen. I asked SLU a while back if I could do the same (for games), but they said they couldn't allow me to do it because of other agreements they have made. Steve
  17. Tarheel- Do you mind if I e-mail you about some potential trips to games for next season? If you would prefer not to, not a problem. Steve
  18. that is odd, try loggging out and back in, see if that works at all. Steve
  19. I didn't get to a radio until 11:50, and there was nothing. The next hour had some baseball expert on and then someone from nascar. Either I missed the interview, or it was very short. Steve
  20. My biggest problem with the scheduele is that we go three straight cupcake games. If we lose one, that hurts us huge. I think someone said that no team (or it is an extreme rarity) has made the tournament with an at large with more than one 200+ loss (or even one, I honestly don't remember, but it was thrown around a lot last Febuary and March). But what happened last year? We came out, our first 2 games: Lost ot UT-Martin and SMS. Now maybe that was because it was the first year under Brad's system. But those were two teams we should of beat, and the losses hurt our RPI, and our Resume to the selection committee. We were dreading the losses to UT-Martin and Houston, if we had those wins, we could have been dancing. I would have much rather lost to Duke at Duke, than UT-Martin at home. I would rather lose to Butler the first game out, than Eastern Kentucky. Just the order bothers me. Who knows! Maybe we will win our first 3 vs. Cupcakes, and then have confidence going into Arizona. But I just don't like this many cupcakes. One should definitely be replaced by SIUC. That is a respectable, but beatable team. Plus it will put more butts in the seats. And that never hurts. Also, you argue that the RPI shouldn't matter. But win loss does, and their SOS does. Here are the SOS's and Win Losses of the 4 Cupcakes Grambling: 10-18 & 292 Eastern Ky: 7-17 & 235 Savanah St: 3-24 & 317 North Carolina A&T: 1-25 269 The ONLY team that we played that was worse than ANY of these teams in terms of RPI (Not counting Grambling since we are playing them again) was UT-Pan American. UT-Martin was better than all of these teams, so was Houston. Those four teams are horrible. And if I were to calculate a rough RPI of our First 3 games. Assuming we win them all would be: .25 * 1 + .5*((1+3+7)/(24+27+26))+ .25*((.4458+.4709+.4262)/3)=.4281 Which by last years end of the year rankings gives us an RPI Rank of about 272. Admitedly, this argument is skewed because it just factors in those 3 teams. And our RPI will be better with others. But these three teams will not help our RPI. Their SOS and Win-Loss records are horribly below average. And I am sure we can replace them with an SIUC or a Temple or someone. And the losses wouldn't be that bad, and would not hurt the RPI much. But a rule should be, a win against a team should not hurt your RPI. By playing these teams, our wins against them will hurt. Steve
  21. I may see if I can hop a train down to the Georgia Tech game. It is on a weekend. And the train ride is overnight, and I will be able to get back by Monday for classes (Actually finals). Just wondering. Steve
