SLU should be dominant in the women's sports space. SLU is a major player in degree's that are traditionally dominated by women.
There are still very small # of opportunities to make a living in pro sports for women. Majors and degree programs are a huge plus when recruiting.

I always read it as he either called up Geno or contacted him in some way and asked who his first choice would be. That was TIllett. Whether May gave any parameters or not, I do not know, and I can't find the mention of Geno.I know May has interviewed Auriemma on his "podcast".

College softball is a top tier made for tv sporting event, is a hill I've been dying on for years. 90-105 minute games, perfection.

Admittedly I know nothing about Wilcher, but the glaring hole of no true point guard, would be the only role I could see Schertz making an exception for. Wilcher doesn't look like that.

My educated guess on how SLU is handling NIL is that there is $X amount firmly committed to NIL pot, but as you said, funds can be raised if there's a can't miss player asking for more. What the limit on more is, I'm sure I don't have an idea.

Tells you that we have resources to keep our best players but also that we haven't had a Conference POY type that is going to demand multi-million of dollars & create an outrageous bidding war. I agree with you that Schertz is doing a good job of recruiting guys who aren't only thinking about the top dollar. That being said, how quickly we wrapped up 6 transfers would seem to indicate that we made some strong offers that made guys cancel other visits. The combination of Schertz's reputation as an offensive guru, solid NIL, & multiple open starting spots seems to have been a pretty appealing pitch.
I think the difference, as the industry stands currently, is that players don't have buyout clauses. Yes the program is in "better shape" but that's only if they make an NCAA Tournament. If a program came along after this season and said we want Josh Schertz, okay thanks for the exorbitant buyout. It's a bummer we didn't get NCAA cash, but that buyout is still lovely. With players, if you don't get to the tournament you really didn't get too much of a profit off (a) player(s). All you can really do is try to go out and replace them or pay to keep them. If we get to a point with buyouts, that would level the playing field alone, IMO.
