  1. shut up. that's what i'm supposed to do...right?
  2. "scandal plagued university of missouri at columbia"
  3. his 94.4% is much more impressive than 9-10 of the people above him. That's such a huge asset for the bills, to have such an automatic free throw shooter.
  4. I'm not trying to give Mizzou credit for anything SLU does, I'm just saying that right now Mizzou is the premier school in the state, and recruits see that (ie. Kalen Grimes). A Mizzou/SLU yearly matchup would allow recruits to see that SLU can play with anyone, and has a quality system/coach. You don't think a Mizzou/SLU game would be an excellent game to bring the recruits to over at the new SLU arena? I do.
  5. so....is this how i start "earning" the respect of billikens.com? alright, i'll give. shut up.
  6. I agree. I think that an annual MU/SLU game would be the perfect boost for SLU to finally awaken from its proverbial "sleeping giant" status.
  7. I think I'd rather have a MU/SLU game than the MU/Illini game. I think the benefit the winner of that generally gets is that both are top tier programs (at least the past few years both have been) and it's been a huge game, generally on national TV. I have no huge interest in the game. A lot of the guys on my floor are from illinois, so it has bigger meaning for them, but I'd rather watch Mizzou and SLU play.
  8. Steve was the first person to mention that "argument" to me, so if he's recanted well fine. And believe me, I would love for the game to happen. It would definitely be huge for me, as a resident of st. louis and a student at missouri. And let me just say that whoever came up with "moo" (i know it wasn't here, it's all over the place) could do much better. Moo? seriously.
  9. They were definitely the most prevalent. One day while steve and I were talking about how mizzou oriented the board seemed to be, I counted around 12 mizzou threads to 11 SLU related threads.
  10. I'm sorry. I came to a BILLIKENS board to talk about the billikens, and then all the threads for about a week were about Mizzou. I suppose I didn't have to respond, but I chose to. That doesn't mean I hate SLU by any measure of the term.
  11. The "Marque clutch shot every freaking game for a month" win streak.
  12. Besides stating why I don't think SLU would help Mizzou's schedule (a stance which steve, a die-hard bills fan, agrees with) where have I ever said anything negative towards SLU? I've said countless positive things. I don't undertand how I've hidden anything. Would you rather my screen name be "billiken_matt?" Would that show more love? Good lord.
  13. >I live in the city now I guess I should change my profile. > >Comparing Boone County to Florissant is laughable. >Florissant has 60,000 people. It is a vibrant diverse city >with the lowest crime rate of cities its size in the state >of missouri and near the top nationally. Ferguson >Florissant has some of the best rated schools in St. Louis >county, and McCluer North has been at times rated the best >public high school in the state of missouri. Columbia and >Boone County wish they were half the town that Florissant >is. Columbia has 84,000 people. It is a vibrant, diverse city with very much of a nght life for people my age, and very much a calm life for people older. We have some very nice schools as well, and we have programs to educate people who weren't able to take advantage of those schools (i tutor for one of them). Columbia was rated the 7th best placed to live in the country for a family of 4. (i would love to look this up for you, but i can't remember where i found it, so if you don't believe me, i understand). . To compare Columbia and Florissant is not laughable, in fact, I would say they are very comparable towns. For more comparisons: Median Age- Columbia: 26.8 Florrisant: 37.1 Land Area- Columbia: 53 square miles Florissant: 11 square miles Median Household Income- Columbia: 33,729 Florissant: 44,462 Average House value- Columbia: 118,500 Florissant:75,300 Races in Columbia: White Non-Hispanic (80.4%) Black (10.9%) Two or more races (2.1%) Hispanic (2.1%) Chinese (1.3%) Asian Indian (0.9%) American Indian (0.9%) Other race (0.8%) Other Asian (0.8%) Korean (0.6%) Races in Florissant: White Non-Hispanic (84.8%) Black (11.5%) Hispanic (1.5%) Two or more races (1.5%) American Indian (0.6%) Other race (0.5%) Columbia: Population (year 2000): 84,531 Males: 40,453 (47.9%), Females: 44,078 (52.1%) Florissant: Population (year 2000): 50,497 Males: 23,843 (47.2%), Females: 26,654 (52.8%) I think they're reasonably similar, barring any sort of personal bias agains a particular county of missouri. 14. Wow. I guess that shows the adults we have here at billikens.com. I think it's ridiculous that I even had to start a thread concerning why we love SLU. And yes roy, I do love SLU. I grew up in St. Louis as a fan of both schools, and now I attend Mizzou so I pull for them more. This may be hard for you all to comprehend. I think you all are very petty and ridiculous people.
  15. To quote a favorite saying on billikens.com- i believe that makes you "naive."
  16. there's a post entitled "why we love SLU" which has no replies. this one has 3 from people other than me.
  17. It's funny you say that, because at least 40% of the people who go to Mizzou come from St. Louis. Probably more. And I find it interesting that you don't mention "columbia," you mention "boone county." Well, if you've ever been to columbia you know that while it's not exactly a metropolitan area on the same level as stl, it is a very nice CITY to live in. So if i'm a hick, then my high school buddy steve is a hick.
  18. ...He was referring to the Kansas "jayhawkers" who came into missouri and raided towns and households to steal slaves to take back to kansas to make free, and then the "missouri tigers" led by Bill Quantrill who rode into lawrence and burned the town down and murdered most of its inhabitants. I'd say the Kansas/Mizzou rivalry has a bit more to stand on than a SLU/Mizzou rivalry.
  19. I'll get it started, just reply as you will: Reason #1) Triple overtime games against tulane on my birthday.
  20. ...up the mizzou game as why this is a ridiculous board. I once again am not surprised.
  21. Polk I think will be good. His size is lacking, but that shouldn't be a huge factor. If he hadn't hurt his knee, some big D-1 programs would have come calling.
  22. I think that Tommy Liddell (along with polk) may be the steal of the Missouri recruiting class this year. I'm happy that Kalen's at Mizzou, but I think that SLU snuck out some great players.
  23. I guarantee they would. I wouldn't want to go, however. I went to the NCAA tourney in the ed 2 years ago, and even with it cut in half I still felt far from the action.
  24. So wait a second- you guys can bring up "SPUMAC" 4 out of 5 threads, but the second I mention it i'm doing something wrong? It was a good game, that's all.
