  1. The announcers proposed a question as to whether the Suns would be satisfied with JG as a relatively inexperienced backup point guard heading into playoffs. They didn't answer the question, but were effusive in praise for JG. I think "in-season" minutes will continue to happen, as even uninjured players often get "rest" games in the NBA. Here are the rest rules: teams can rest no more than one star player from a game, with stars defined as anyone who has been an All-Star or All-NBA selection in any of the past three seasons. Healthy star players must be available for nationally televised games and in-season tournament games.
  2. After hearing your podcast, I looked up the cheerleader incident. The cheerleader's 2-handed shove to Jimerson is with 3:57 remaining in the game. You can see it on the ESPN+ on demand play-back. I don't think it was technical-worthy, but definitely a strange sequence. Jimerson seemed to get whacked by Enright on the drive, but no call.
  3. I see your point. I think all message boards get negative. I think Ford is feeling heat from many directions and he reacted to it.
  4. surely he knows those groups are not mutually exclusive. Some of the most negative comments are from the people going to games simply because they are the most passionate fans and are disappointed in where the program sits.
  5. It would become a novelty if a player actually attended the school on the jersey.
  6. I guess we can't bemoan our conference affiliation when we are dead last. In fact, we have done very little to elevate the status of the A10 over the last 9+ years
  7. Not at all. I thought it was time to move on after last season. But we didn't move on, so I've resigned myself to accepting CTF will be here for at least this season. If the season plays out like I think, attendance will be abysmal, donations will plummet, and heads will fall. If SLU wants to proceed now with harriman as interim, I'm good with that. I expect major changes after the season. I want SLU to be the next Creighton or Gonzaga.
  8. Yes, I see the passion with you, gobillsgo, Billikenfan05 and wgstl and I certainly understand wanting to make something happen. I remember a few games in the Spoon era when I disagreed with his moves during a tough loss. Invariably, his post-game interview acknowledged mistakes and always made me feel like he saw what we saw, and he was the man to correct this issue. I no longer think CTF can fix it, but I think CTF has at least this season to prove me wrong.
  9. Disagree. Everyone here wants to win. Not everyone agrees on the next steps.
  10. or once every 4 years find an under-recruited big man who becomes a starter 3 games into his freshman year and leads us to the Final 4, then for an encore leads us to a Sweet 16 his senior year. Loyola did this with Cameron Krutwig.
  11. Fantastic win at Nova. St Joe's looks legit.
  12. neutral site game in Kissimmee Florida. Nice win for VCU
  13. agree. Zero inside-out passes. Albeit these "kickouts" work best when they need to double team our big. Teams generally do not need to double-team our bigs.
  14. huge contributions in a big road win. without Durant and Beal again.
  15. we had some ill advised shots down the stretch. Should have run a set play but we threw up some crazy shots. blue font: I challenge Ford to ditch the pajama top and show his team he's serious by wearing a suit.
  16. right. 23 points 5 boards 1 assist 1 steal and a great post defense play on Dartmouth's last possession. Billikens have issues but Jimerson is the least of our problems
  17. Yes a 21 point road win for Suns without Durant and Beal. Goodwin a solid +19 with 14 points, 5 boards, 2 assists and a steal in 20 minutes. I used to stress that first year when he got a few games with Wizards but didn't score. Very proud of our NBA-er!
  18. Charlie Spoonhour managed to keep most key players except for Julian Winfield, because he communicated a clear vision of where we could go. Any new coach's first task is to "re-recruit" anyone on the roster worth keeping. Besides, "re-recruiting" happens every year now due to NIL (at least for would-be 1st time transfers).
  19. The general consensus is that AD May probably did not have the financial wherewithal to rip the bandaid. He likely did not have the "will" to either. I find the growth of Thames, the emergence of Bruce, and the general likeability of our players as compelling enough to keep watching/attending. We should be a much better team come Feb than we are now.
  20. That's what I'm saying. PG might end up being LHJ
  21. Agree Play Bruce as much as possible. He has serious upside. Thames is improving rapidly. Not sure if Meadows or Medley is the answer at point. It might be LHJ. LHJ has had a slow start but his upside was evident last year
  22. Agree with this. What you call "assets", I call "goodwill". I think another nutshell is as follows: SLU basketball is the revenue driver for the entire program. Admin must make basketball decisions based on the impact to revenue. With the unknowns of CF's contract (self-renewing?, buyout amount? who is funding it?), it is almost certain that Admin decided that the best financial decision was to keep CF for this year. This decision will be made after each season, so I'm not going to worry about it until then. One thing is for sure, no one worries about CF leaving on his own accord.
  23. Earl Austin said during the broadcast that Vermont has "post presence", which opens up their 3-pt shooters. Bruce has the potential to be that post player for us. That said, it should be a pre-requisite for our posts to be able to kick the ball out. If the post continually misses an open shooter for a forced "over the shoulder" heave, then we have other post options. I like Dalger's hustle, but he has a total of 1 assist in 5 games.
