  1. Yeah I saw it, it's a weekly program and it's very good actually, makes me think beyond the rumors of the guys being "Thugs" and lets me see them as a person. I saw this show a few times before they played SLU, everyone on that team hustles, I mean hustles..they're a big team, they have academically sound athletes as well and talented. I'm not a Cincy fan, but am glad that programs are now starting to explore the other side of players and coaches, their relationships with each other as a team and their closeness.
  2. NO inside info, handn't talk to Reg today, will probably chat with him tomorrow.
  3. Reg got poked in the other eye, his good eye actually, that swelled up during the game, he also got scratched in the face, under the good eye which added to the swelling.. So the good eye is cut and swolen and the inflammed eye is blurry..luckily for this week off, I suggested he invest in some goggles (may sound funny) but with his iritis a routine eye injury can potentially become worse..it was more painful than swollen and his eyes are constantly watery. Actually talking to Reg and some of the other guys after the game, it appears that most who played got banged up pretty well. Nothing too threatening other than Polk, but they were all sporting tatoos of scratches and bruises from the game. Refs definitely slept on this one, the commentators said as much on many plays. This cincy team is good, very good no doubt, I was afraid for our guys because everyone on their team plays hard, i mean hard, i saw them play the night before. Plus their guys were big compared to our line up...at one point on the floor, the pt guard was the only small person at 5"11, the rest of the guys were 6"6 and up(at one point in the game)..so it was hard. I still think we could have won. Reg has to get more aggressive, like attack mode or something..eventhough he can't see to shoot, he made good passes and got key rebounds, so as long as he helps I'm fine, but be aggressive. Remember when I said it seems as if coach takes guys out when they're getting hot...(I was referring to Justin and Tom at the time), but he did the same to Reg and Ant and Izik in the first half. He said he wanted to give them a breather, i said if they weren't falling out on the floor, panting for air, asking for relief then they should've stayed in. We were on a run, Reg had finally connected on a 3 and they only sat on the bench not even 2 mins, before having to get back in, because Cincy went on a mini-run....I think we should improve on that.
  4. Marquee and Josh had their own connections in playing overseas, so your post was almost on point, I get what u're saying..
  5. I think the defense was on point tonight, I heard via radio of the game that even Newbourne had some steals, Anthony's passes, Reg's passes and most importantly Reg's defense. His offense is still off, mainly because is vision is tainted, but he still did well, and helped the guys significantly. I'm loving Danny Brown, his game will develop so well, I'm glad he's getting an opportunity. Polk played well he got the ball to the open guys.. I can't wait until Saturday, and see the intensity and confidence the guys bring to the game. I watched Cincy on their Las Vegas trip on ESPN play against Longwood..so It will be interesting.
  6. Exactly...the guest that apparently said this wasn't mentioned by name and I wondered if the analyst themselves have thought about that.
  7. I wonder if the analyst visit this site? They should
  8. Who said Reg gets tired after 20 mins?? he's been playing more minutes than that the past few years?? Did I miss something?? Anyway..at this point..I'm getting tired of this talk about the new players and giving them more time, If they've earned it sure, if they haven't then they don't get time either..play the people who are contributing the most and not one person can say that Reg hasn't contributed, not one can say he deserves to sit because of his playing. I don't agree with it, but I'm the minority..so cool..Reg will shine in 2 mins, if that's all he's given and u can see the difference in games that he doesn't play.
  9. Just to back that up..Chris Sloan was a very good player..ultimately Coach didn't just toss him to the side, because he wasn't going to the next level, he now is on the coaching staff...Coach helped in that area.. That's what coaches do...his minutes wasn't cut because they didn't win..he had a huge supporting cast last year, experienced players..this year is different..I'm glad coach didn't just decide to push him to the side...where's the reward in that.
  10. Well U all know I don't agree with that assessment..even if Reg "doesn't make the NBA" there are other options and just because he's a senior doesn't mean u drop him..the NBA wants players to go to college and are even considering an age limit for to enforce it, now analyst are encouraging coaches to leave them hanging if they're not going to the NBA...why would a player ever consider coming to college if they're trying to make it to the next level (NBA) based on the comments of the guest it's useless, especially if doing their time in college and substantially contributing to the team whether they're winning or losing would cause them to be pushed aside or overlooked by the coaching staff? Plus the coaches aren't just there to win games and to help players get into the NBA r they? The coaches should be working with the players in achieving their goals after college regardless, be it a coaching job, NBA, overseas, graduate school whatever.. To say stifle your best player because in someone's OPINION he's not going to the NBA is Bull...But it happens...Reg will be fine never the less...and believe me he has plenty of options and the NBA is still one of them..
  11. I agree, didn't like the drives, only because they were continuously blocked but they all still played well..I just talked about them needing a confidence booster and this should be it... I just talked to Reg they seemed to be very happy and inspired..wished he could've played...let's pray this carries over into the New Year... Happy New Years to all, Pray for a safe trip home, as our team will be traveling on the road back to St. Louis tonight...
  12. I'm begging for them to shoot and stop so much passing, this is the 4th time that I've counted that they've held the ball until about 3 or 2 secs before shooting... I'm cool though...they still played well..regardless
  13. No Haps..I'm really freakin out now...that damn PIERCE!!!! AAAAAHhhhhh
  14. U ..I'm at the computer, with the radio up, the Tv up..screaming, talking to myself, my children have both left me alone in the room, they can't take it..
  15. Oh yeah..my bad I have directv..but it's on the radio too, I'm listening and looking Tonka u're right..this is something to build off of..and I hope this gives the guys MAJOR CONFIDENCE!!!
  16. I know that's right...I'm pumped..they're doing very..very..well..glad to see I'm not the only one watching... If not anything, they're all showing up this half..way to start
  17. I've mentioned this from day one of posting on this board, I think SLU really limits themselves and their talents when they only recruit or look to recruit locally..It's a whole word beyond St. Louis, I actually think kids would love to come to SLU only because everyone doesn't get the opportunity to play for a Division 1 School.. This will become more evident when SLU moves to A-10, it's a guard oriented conference, u're playing more eastcoast teams..u will see that they are worlds apart from the midwest.
  18. VN is one who doesn't set screens, Izik does and should do so very little as we're depending on his offense as well...
  19. U have very valid points...I concluded almost similar thinking...he's very skilled and talented...this experience at SLU can only help his game..I saw his abilities in the game last night...well I heard it (radio)
  20. Basically with pressing the ball. I hate the fact that there is so much space between our defenders and the opposing team...push up on the ball..If we're gonna try and honor DP's quickness, and try to win, we have to be very decisive in our defense, it has to change from what we're used to playing(our weaknesses on defense is exposed because we're refusing to change our defensive play)...that will cause fast breaks, Polk will be essentially playing to his best attribute (quickness) and we can steal some layups from some of our other players..(we don't permanently need to change it up, since Coach's defense is what kept us here...but we should at least be able to change up the defense and play just as good) Also I think the Big guys need to do nothing but learn how to set pics properly and going strong to the basket...I said before the games I saw most of the big guys ended up on the wing and Reg, Polk or Izik were left to set pics...the bigs aren't shooting so they shouldn't be caught on the wing...they need to be more agressive...on both ends (offense and defense) It's done in practices..but in a game it isn't.. I think Reg can pass the ball as well, so he should maybe bring the ball up sometimes...(Polk, Meyer, Drejaj, Izik whomever)give them the opportunity to shoot..He definitely shouldn't be taking the ball out, which he has in many games this year... Also exude and demand that his players play with CONFIDENCE...ENERGY...and a WILLINGNESS TO WIN...their attitudes play a significant role in these losses and if u feel like losers and think like losers, u'll continue to lose, if u feel like winners and think like winners u'll win. It's time to get some Positive energy going on in practices, the locker rooms, plane rides, bus rides, in everything...Believe me, I haven't taken the blame off the seniors or veterens either...I've given Reg the same speech...Be an example to the new guys, talk to them, open up..it seems like everyone's on their own page and aren't communicating to each other...off the court.
  21. Basically Reg has a number of options to pursue after college, that still won't allow him to just sit back and not try to change things for this team this season....He's a winner..., this losing is not something Reg is accustomed to..not like this...he's always played on teams where there were other options...he mentally stresses over these losses.. I do think this team has a skilled group of guys, but as u state put your best players on the floor and let them go for it..I'm all for that..Call me crazy, I'm still optimistic...Once Coach Revamps a few things, the players gain confidence, and bust their tails..we still have a chance at a respectable year...or at least I think...u know me..
  22. Agree..I was discussing defense with some acquaintances that felt Reg's defense was terrible..I said I felt it wasn't terrible, I saw the way he defended against Oakland and Dayton..his man didn't score on him the man who was scoring was defended by other teammates, Drejaj shut a guy down on Oakland who had mad recruiters watching..so I felt that if the coaches feel the same way about Reg's defense and Drejaj's offense, then why not recruit players to compliment those inefficiencies..if u want a run and gun team recruit a big man who can run and score and get rebounds... That does fall on the coaches..then it wouldn't be a whole season of losing games because u want the players that u do have to play a different game other than the one they're capable of playing.
