  1. 72- more than that - OJ reported that there was more than simply a passing interest expressed by the Tyus and the family.
  2. Taj - normally when a school is said to have sent the kid to a prep school what they mean is that they arranged for the prep school to give a scholarship and they pointed the kid to a school that would be open to encouraging the kid to go to their college. What is interesting about the comment is that Kruger continues to try to worm his way back into the St. Louis area. The truth is UNLV is no better of a program than SLU from a competetion stand point.
  3. Goat - funny you mentioned the coach's comments, I was thinking the same thing when I read it. He also needs a geography lesson - Lawrence is a hard 5 hours from here - so if the family only wants to go to weekend home games and pay to spend the night out and then drive back thus losing the entire weekend then I guess you could say they can easily get there to watch him play. ILL is closer than KU.
  4. Not sure what to make of this - doesn't sound good but who knows.
  5. Turn your radio on during the day in those areas and you will get KFNS - that is why they would probably define that as their coverage area.
  6. Roy Roy Roy - where do I begin - never mind it would be waste of my time. Let me just say that a 1-5 night is not a good shooting night. I am not attacking KL just pointing out that the season is 2 games old and to start labeling players is not productive at this time - can we at least wait until after the preconf. games? By the way, I am suppose to turn in my season tickets since I have no business following the Bills?
  7. Carmody's on Manchester just north of Clarkson. It has been a couple years since I use to go there but I would give them a call and see if they are still showing it.
  8. The problem with saying it is up to SLU to build the network is that within the local area - KFNS probably owns the rights and so we could never sell the product to someone in Washington or Bellville if KFNS defines its broadcasting area as them and I would suspect they do. So locally, it is up to KFNS to figure it out and they will if they are making $.
  9. My only concern is where is Brad going to get this 4 - he talked last winter about trying to get one that spring - nothing, he talked about getting one this fall - nothing. I wish I could be as confident as you are that he will get one this spring. By the way, I guess you could say he did get one in Obi but he sort came from no where - was he signed after the spring period?
  10. Roy, I never said KL was not a good shooter - all I said was that it was too early to start annoiting anyone as a good or bad shooter. If you did not know KL - you would have looked at his 1-5 the other night and said this kid could not shoot. The point is - it is a young season, young players, and lets not label anybody just yet.
  11. I am sure if the Bills make money for them, they will consider more aggressively how to create a network. Skip - it does matter to pump up the team locally - while the game might not be able to be heard by everyone - most in the area can get it somewhat and it can lead to more ticket sales.
  12. You can not be in two places at one time the last I checked. Folding down to help out inside will eventually be your doom if the other team can hit their outside shot. Maybe what you have ask yourself is - would I rather give up 2 and stop the 3 or stop the 2 and give up the 3pts. I fear we will see this problem all year.
  13. KL - 1 for 5. That is not a great shooter. I am not dissing him just pointing out that perhaps it is too early to start saying who or who not is a good shooter as a freshman.
  14. VN - was not a good pick up - time has shown that he is not a starter. The love affair with JJ is that we want someone - anyone - to step up and be any kind of a pf. JJ may not be the answer but give him a real chance to hang himself. Then and only then will people give it up. We knew the 4 guard line up was going to create this problem when we went against a big team. Why is anybody so surprised.
  15. They have little control over that - that is the decision of the FCC so they can try all the little stuff to try to boost the power but the truth is it will never be significantly better than it is now. People who are out of the listening signal will simply have to get it through XFM or Sirrus or stream. Personally, I kind of get it enough to listen with some interference but how can we replace the kind of PR we get during the daytime? On KMOX or 550 we would never be mentioned.
  16. KMOX seems as if they have decided to get out the sports business - their sports dept is very non existent anymore. The truth is I understand how hard it is for some to get the game on the radio but the daily pub we get is worth an awful lot since that station is the # 1 sports talk station during the day. KMOX might be ready to let MU drop also then it will be interesting to see who ends up with MU and us.
  17. David - which is the point I have made several times over this past year. The upperclass ladden team that was left for last two coaches has run out. Now I am not saying they are a bad team but not the team they were the past 2-3 years. While they got a couple of good recruits the first year that Weber left - a residual of the Weber/Painter duo - their recruiting classes have not been up to replacing what has graduated. This is enevitable for a mid-major when they have to deal with the coaching merry go round syndrome.
  18. You might be right but it is hard for us to start talking about something like that given we are the new kids on the block.
  19. New coach - new system - not use to the UAB press that killed us every year when we played them down there. I know it is early but does anybody know what the nonconf. record is for the conf so far?
  20. Thanks for pointing out that the game was in Alaska - I am not sure why I thought it was in Hawaii.
  21. Band - you are correct - Holder does the PA for the Rams - my bad. It is kind of hard for Rammer to be rah rah SLU during the broadcast when he has just ripped the Bills that day on the radio. I never said that Rammer's assessments were not correct just that it makes for a difficult situation when people hear the voice of the Bills saying negative things about the team. It would be like a school principal making negative comments about the school board - does not create a positive perspective for those listening. I also said, until we are his full time employee we simply have to live with it. Remember, sometimes it is about perception when it comes to the public's image.
  22. Besides at this time we have a good chance of getting Tyus - no assurances. These three will have to go through the "stars in their eyes" period when the big boys come knocking - Tyus has already been through that and may realize that the grass is not always greener on the other side. I had an employee once ask me why I stayed so long with the group when I could have gone other places - my comment to them was I did fine where I am, I got the promotions and increased pay, maybe a year or so later, and what I have learned over the years is that everybody thinks the grass is greener but what you find when you top that hill is that their grass is the same color green as yours. Now if you are unhappy then by all means go for it.
  23. Clearly this year - the annual vacation to Hawaii that teams seem to take for granted in the past has been a real snake bite for some. Maybe going down there to play one game is not such a bad deal - at least if we lose, we lose to a good Hawaii team that has a good RPI.
  24. Mike Kelly has that gig with MU. He does do some other stuff like PA at Rams games but when you hear him on the radio hosting a talk sports show, MU has paid for that spot and he shills for them accordingly.
  25. Here is the issue with Rammer - if SLU paid him enough to be a full time employee then he could be the supporter we think he should be. However, he has to have other gigs to make money and one happens to be on a talk radio sports show. Thus, he feels compelled to say whatever he thinks he needs to say. I said before when he was teamed with Slaten that this would be trouble for us since he is lukewarm as it is about SLU when on a talk sports radio show but now with Slaten who can get him fired or replaced - ie Clairborne - he has to really watch what he says. If the team starts winning, then he will have the ammo to argue with Slaten. Now that being said, I have been displeased with his lack of public support since he is seen as the voice of the Bills for sometime now but like I said, until we pay him full time we are stuck with it.
