  1. But it is OK for you to make assumptions without knowing the facts/numbers? My post is based on common sense but yes I agree it appears people at SLU may not be capable of using common sense
  2. Come back to him now at 5 million he may be more open to it given his terrible year. He would have been better off to have taken it then and move on to something else either this year or next. Now he is damaged goods.
  3. Outsourcing the complete arena makes no sense - outsourcing the operations does. The issue here is Roy is saying we are treated no different under the outsource agreement then anybody else except for right of refusal for keeping dates open and that we pay rent. As I said, we are still paying the bonds of why would we pay any amount for rent - that is us double paying.
  4. I thought all they did was sign a contract for the operations. We are still paying the bonds off so why would we set up a situation where we are paying twice - for the bonds and rent.
  5. It has been reported here that it is a 5 year auto renewal each year unless either party disagrees. The question now is did SLU/May ever disagree?
  6. Are you sure that these amounts are right - I think you can get some pretty good players for less.
  7. Maybe this is the problem - he never lets a team get good at anything because he is always changing things. I heard someone say once - if you are poor at math but good at tennis then don't hire a math tutor but do hire a tennis coach.
  8. Yes he did but he signed in the Fall and Sodie only asked him to wait until the Spring but the kid did not. Not sure what exactly Brad told him but I know he was interested but wanted to wait. Brad was not a good enough recruiter to try to finesse recruits - he wasn't Coach K at Duke,
  9. Ford said something about how the practiced getting rebounds on the defensive side and preventing your man from driving to the basket for 2 days rather than giving UMass all the second chances and unimpeded drives, but the players didn't perform. My question is why only 2 days - why haven't you been practicing that aspect of the game all year! Of course, it is hard for him but if you don't teach it all the time whose fault is that. RM always said rebound and defend so has Ford just realized this?
  10. I agree with your assessment of SBV. It is too bad Zang won't mix it up
  11. He wanted Harrellson he just wanted him in the Spring because he was pulling the "Golden Fly" bit
  12. Sodie could evaluate talent just couldn't get the players to come here. Yes I know he whiffed on Ahern but everybody is allowed a mistake. I also think that was him trying to separate himself from Romar kind of a thing
  13. I would bet a big amount that May has already abandoned Ford - he is the type who would throw anybody under the bus to save his own skin. He probably has already removed Ford's number from his auto dial. I am sure X didn't have anything to do with getting Chafietz to the game - he knew what was going on - I am sure May has him on the auto dial.
  14. They were dysfunctional for a long time - Dalger leaving didn't cause it.
  15. I would agree regarding Ford - Ford post-game performance was not a standard approach. He probably knew something is about to happen. We will just wait and see.
  16. Ford talks about how the team can not defend their man and it is up to them to do that. Well, why can't they defend their man one on one? Well there are two reasons: 1. they are not athletic enough to do it - whose fault is that maybe the guy who recruited them. 2. have they been coached properly to defend - whose fault is that maybe the guy who is supposed to be teaching them. If the players are being defiant and not listening to the coaches then whose fault is that - maybe the guy who is not holding them accountable. I am sorry, he did sound defeated but honestly when will he actually accept responsibility for what is happening instead of blaming the players all the time. No wonder the team is a mess. This game was lost yes as Roy said second chance put backs but also UMass won virtually all the 50/50 balls. We just couldn't stop them ever and when we did we squandered the opportunity on our offensive side. I am not sure what he does now but tonight was basically the same thing we have seen all year. Chaifetz was here and I wonder what he is thinking now?
  17. Except the NCAA owns the NIt I believe. Maybe a new tournament though. The other issue is the have nots will also be paying players just less.
  18. Using some deductive reasoning, I am beginning to think that the buyout is not as bad as we may have thought. If there were people who were willing to step up and do it last year, then May probably did not renew his contract the last two times or there is some kind of buyout clause that is less. I just hope those who were rebuffed for Chaifetz saying no and to keep Ford are not pissed and won't step up now. If Chaifetz was the one who said keep him then he has to be the one to fix this. Ford may not finish the year and I think there is even a chance he may not even be behind the bench this Saturday. That team meeting is usually a death Nel for a coach because they rarely work, and it shows how much the coach has lost the room.
  19. Same old same old. If you can't defend then you have to score - if you can't score then you have to defend. If you can't do either, then you are pitiful. If Ford does not resign or fired then we all need to wear bags over our heads ala New Orleans Saints fans.
  20. I figure they won't fire both - May can chair the search team - I am hoping only 2-3 people. He just doesn't get to make the call alone. Get some basketball people on this small group.
  21. All the people who think we can't afford to move on from Ford are not factoring in the lost revenue piece if you keep him. Instead of losing a couple of hundred season tix renewals you will be probably looking at 1000 or more especially if this season spirals even further out of control. This doesn't even factor in the loss of concessions and parking money that will accompany this. You can say well give the tix away and the concessions and parking money will be replaced - the problem with this is it is hard to give tix away even to youth groups if nobody has an interest. The loss of the season tix holders also means a loss of Billiken Club memberships. Also, once you lose a season tix holder you probably are not getting them back ever. At this point I am seriously considering dropping my season tix for next year if Ford returns - I have had tix for 44 years so this is not a decision I make easily. My point is that the overall health of the program will take years to recover if that even happens - I suggest that getting rid of Ford is not a difficult decision to make if you care at all about Billiken Basketball future. Too much is at stake to keep him but then again people often make decisions that are contrary to their own best interest when they are short sighted.
  22. Remember who Rammer works for - SLU so he is going to be soft on Ford or else he is out a job. I don't blame him
  23. Remember the fish rots from the head down
  24. The wheels of justice turns slowly
