  1. if she were naked. However, fully clothed, she's pretty annoying.
  2. In many publications it's customary to see editor's notes under letters written by people who either a) have some vested interest in the subject matter they're writing about or has achieved some level of prominence. Take BusinessWeek, for example. If Patrick Stokes writes a letter to the editor in response to an article in the previous week's edition, the editor will note that Mr. Stokes is the president and CEO of Anheuser-Busch. I didn't take the editor's note as any disrespect towards Mr. McCauley, SLU, Billiken fans or anyone else. It's just illustrating that Mr. McCauley is not just any supporter of the Billikens program; he's a Billiken legend.
  3. The area that was once the site of Gaslight Square will soon be home to a new development of urban-style homes built by some of St. Louis' finest homebuilders. There will be a small retail component, but it will be primarily residential. It's great news for the CWE/Midtown area. I would have preferred to restore the original Gaslight Square buildings and combine them with architecturally compatible infill, but this will be the next best thing.
  4. We have a field on campus that is located behind the soccer field. Mizzou has had some competitive teams in recent years, so like you said, it's not as if there isn't any talent in this region. I think a coaching change might do them some good.
  5. Our baseball team lost three in a row to Belmont (yes, that Belmont), so I think that CU's chances are probably pretty good. SLU baseball really sucks. I'm not sure why they haven't replaced the coach.
  6. I think they had the sound on at the back tvs, but off in the front at the projection tv. Our waitress was good, and we ordered food and 4-5 beers during the game. We ordered our food right as the game was starting and got it with about 10 minutes left in the first half. I guess if there's a problem, it's with the kitchen and not the wait staff. The place is pretty big, with a bunch of tables and booths near the big screen, and bar-like seating behind it. There is also additional seating near and around the bar.
  7. as a frame of reference, Wackadoo's is located in the space that used to be Aunt Hattie's. The Busch Center is really looking nice!
  8. Despite the crappy game, I had a good time at Wackadoo's last night. There was a good turnout (the place was pretty full), and a lot of Blue Crew members were there. It was definitely fun to watch a game with a crowd comprised exclusively of SLU supporters. Wackadoo's has a huge projection TV and a large seating area, along with several other smaller TVs throughout the bar. The food was standard bar fare, but was pretty good. The service was actually a lot better than I expected, and we got our food in about the same amount of time as we would have at any other restaurant. Maybe they're better staffed now. The dollar Bud Light drafts were nice too and helped me erase part of the second half from my memory.
  9. Come out to Wackadoo's at the new and improved Busch Center tonight to watch Tha Lou U. take on the Furloughed Felines. It would be great to have a good crowd, and if Wackadoo's turns out to be a decent place to watch the game, maybe we could set something up for every road game.
  10. It's in the lower level of the Busch Center. www.wackadoos.com
  11. Why don't we get a good alumni turnout as well to send a message to the wackos at Wackadoos that we want an "official" gathering place to watch the Bills?
  12. Very frustrating. And disappointing. Maybe we should organize an game-watching event at Wackadoo's ourselves instead of relying on the athletic department. If we were to work with say, the office of alumni relations and the SGA, perhaps we could put on a fun and successful event.
  13. It was nice to meet you the other night, AlumniFan. I'm interested to see how smoothly the Young Alumni event goes in light of what BlueCrewPres has told us. It's surprising to me that Wackadoo's wouldn't bend over backwards for the Blue Crew and anyone else who wants to watch a game there. Shouldn't the operators of the new and improved Busch Center want the revenue-generating operations to bring in as much cash as possible? In theory, Wackadoo's would be the ideal place for students to gather, but if that's not the case, what are the other options? Could huge projection screens, pizza, beer, etc. be brought into the West Pine Gym for game viewing parties?
  14. That's unfortunate. Did you guys let them know that you'd be watching the game there ahead of time?
  15. If the officiating gets out of hand, I might have to go down to 105 to help with the heckling. I lost my voice at the DePaul game!
  16. Lloyd, how's the kickboxing working out for you? Since many students purchased blue t-shirts before last night's game, perhaps it was some of them and not Blue Crew members who left the game early. I'm glad to hear that so many people had fun at the game and that the buzz has returned. The Bills made two NCAA appearances and one NIT when I was in school, and winning basketball really makes it fun to be a student. As more and more people show up to our games, we may experience some "growing pains", but it's good to see that the Blue Crew sets a good example for the newbies.
  17. Where exactly was the tailgate party? I thought it was in the parking lot behind Gries, but when I drove by around 5:30, it didn't look like anything was going on. I would have liked to have purchased one of those shirts! Glad to hear that the turnout was so good.
  18. I also thought it was interesting that they held the season ticket holders thank-you and a pre-game alumni reception on the same night. I would have liked to have attended both, but opted for the alumni reception and had a great time.
  19. Students: Is there going to be another pep rally before the Louisville game? I think it would be a wise idea to have one. If we can pull off a win somehow against Louisville, the Friday night Houston game should be a lot of fun.
  20. The Young Alumni Association is having a game watching party next Wed. at 7:00 pm at Wackadoo's - the sports bar at the new and improved Busch Center. Should be a good way to see if Wackadoo's is a good place for us to have future get-togethers.
  21. Nice article by Mike Seeley in this week's Riverfront Times: http://www.rftstl.com/issues/2004-02-18/fe...ml/1/index.html
