  1. 2-0 Argentina. Imo very questionable foul on the first penalty kick. He may have been touched but he went down to draw a foul not due to the contact. 2nd goal was beautiful from the start of the counter to the finish. Just a fantastic goal all around. Argentina has been the far superior team. However, their antics make them so hard for me to like which is sad because their skill and technique on the ball is everything anyone should love about soccer. They constantly go down so easy. You’d think it’s 3 am and they are all leaving a bar drunk their balance is so bad. Then add in the feigning injury over nothing. Like the guy who gets bumped on the shoulder on the free kick and he goes down holding his face trying to buy a foul. There has to be a half dozen instances in just one half of play. I wonder if they practice this. It’s too bad because they don’t need the antics. Without the BS they are so fun to watch.
  2. The post had nothing to do with Georgetown. It’s one poster trying to find creative ways to nonstop bash Coach Ford. The board is getting almost unreadable
  3. I also think France. I’m not a Messi fan, don’t want to see him win. He’s got really bad balance for a world class athlete.
  4. Honestly, Either his entire persona is just a gag or I can’t imagine he doesn’t reread his own posts and think to himself “damn, I sound like a moron today and wtf I sounded like one yesterday too”
  5. You are correct. And of course Jordan knew what he needed to work on and of course he made greater improvements as a professional.
  6. Lol. Have you ever thought of trying stand up? Stupid $hit is usually pretty funny.
  7. According to Worldsoccertalk.com Gregg’s reasons for not intending to play Gio much was his fitness and him fitting in the system. Seriously, you can’t find a way to fit Gio Reyna into your system? Is your system going to change? if fitness was an issue, I get that but problems fitting him in your system? WTF
  8. And I’m not sure obviously. And it may not have been told by Gregg that way. I did hear there was possibly a staff vote. Maybe a mistake was made. If that’s the case though, Gregg should have corrected the story immediately. A staff vote and 1/2 the players voting are entirety different
  9. It’s now being reported there was no vote among players. Possibly what Gio meant when he said highly fictionalized version of events. If that is correct and there was no player vote, how the hell come Gregg didn’t speak up and correct it. Maybe that’s how it’s coming out now, he leaked it lol
  10. This was just a bad situation starting with Gregg telling him he wouldn’t play much to Gino’s immature reaction, to Gregg then leaking what happened. Gio’s a kid who had literally just turned 20 days before getting told he won’t play much in something he’s worked his entire life towards. He reacted badly, but he apologized, owned up to his actions and was told all was forgiven. He didn’t gripe about his playing time afterwards. He shut his mouth and moved on. All in all, except for the poor initial reaction, I think he did fine I was 75% on the keep Gregg bandwagon. However, leaking this was horrible leadership. How can players trust him after he said all is forgiven, then leaks the situation. In addition, when it first came out Gio’s name wasn’t attached. I saw numerous posts on line claiming it was other players and disparaging them. He opened other players up to scrutiny and allegations they shouldn’t have had to deal with. It shouldn’t have been made public. But, if you’re going to make it public and you’ve told Gio all was forgiven, have the balls to tell him what you’re going to do and man up and do it. Don’t take the chicken way. Gregg’s actions as the coach were far worse than Gio’s as a player.
  11. You’ve shown up here with no other agenda than to bash Coach Ford. You remind me of a troll rather than an objective poster. We aren’t firing coach today or next week. This gets old. At least let the season play out. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not, so just enjoy it
  12. So how many leagues each year are high major? 8,9,10? That’s cool how you capitalize stop. I mean heck if you say it with that much emphasis it must be true.
  13. I don’t think it’s actually lucky for Travis as there is no chance you have the ability or the knowledge to make coaching decisions at the D1 level. I didn’t absolve Coach, nor do I want to. He assembled the team. Poor shooting which has been the biggest problem in these losses has nothing to do with in game coaching. And sorry but regardless of what we want to be SLU is not High-Major D1 basketball
  14. 85/249 for 36% and 20/78 for 26%. Not saying Fords not ultimately responsible but you aren’t winning on the road vs Maryland, Auburn, and Iona much less at home against a good Boise St team shooting like that. It’s not like they haven’t had plenty of decent looks either. Their inside game stinks. Okoro can’t hit a layup. Forester has hands of stone. Yuri is trying too much to make something happen when we can’t hit a shot and he can’t shoot any better than the rest of the guards. Ford’s team, he’s accountable but players also have to play up to their capability. And please don’t start with the coach ‘em up or make adjustments or motivate them BS. You’ve seen the games, we’ve had open looks and just missed over and over again. That part isn’t coaching. The players and the coach have all failed so far
  15. Yes, assists help the team win. A Billikens.com thread keeping track of the assists actually has no affect
  16. Exactly. We’d all like to get to the Big East. There really is no other option. But maybe we let the net ranking work itself out first. They aren’t selecting at large teams today.
  17. Teams are shooting 39% from the field and 31% from 3. Providence 35% SIUC 40% with 1 guy who was shooting 30% on the year going off Everyone else under 32% many under 30%. Reality check
  18. Not yet on Reyna. As of today Pulisic is our best player or Tyler Adams but he’ll never get that designation because of the position he plays. Next WC maybe. Like Pulisic he needs to stay healthy. Maybe Reyna can be that guy that’s name gets mentioned when we’re talking about the best players in the world. The real issue is we had an entire WC cycle + that can’t even provide real capable reserves. We have half of a roster that shouldn’t even be on a WC roster. Roldan, Ferreira, Morris, Moore, Yeldin, Long, Wright, Acosta, Carter-Vickers. Ream as good as he was can’t be your best central defender that plays 360 minutes over 13 days. Zim is a guy that should be a reserve not a starter. This next group coming up needs to find a couple of real world class quality central defenders to pair with Miles and maybe Richards and Zim. We need depth at both outside backs or someone to make A Robinson and Dest depth. We need a #9. Honestly we have all these young guys but besides Josh, I don’t see any of them having a real chance of becoming the guy we need. We need someone to make Josh the 2nd or 3rd choice. Reyna, Musah, Pulisic, or a young player coming up. Someone had to reach the next level. We’ve grown leaps and bounds now we need the next group to equal or surpass the top players of todays group. And I’m tired of hearing these talking heads Lalas and all saying we lost because of not doing fundamental things like tracking back (Adams) or finding your man (Ream, Robinson). Of course those things are true but the reality is we can’t have the hardest working guy on the field, or a 35 year old defender, or the wing back we ask to go end line to end line playing 4 straight games in 13 days because we literally have no one else.
  19. Now is the time for Pulisic, or Reyna to play up top. We have to have our best players on the field.
  20. And they beat me to it but Tyler Adams as good as he’s been just can’t jog behind Memphis all the way down the field. This is where our youth hurts as no chance to give Adams rest at all in the 3 games. This is where not getting much depth from that 26-34 year old group really hurts. The 20-25 yo group has provided loads of talent but we need the next 4 years to provide depth and even relegate a few players that start now to being depth. At that point we will be able to compete in WC’s where you play so many games so close together with the worlds best. I love Pulisic but we need his caliber to be our 3rd, 4th best player. Not our best.
  21. I just can’t fathom why Greg makes the decision to start Ferreira in this game.
  22. Why? Dest is the one that needs to be there. He’s played a very good half until then. But we know offense for defense is a trade with Dest.
  23. Why is Ferrera in this game? Dives like Memphis did at the 35 min mark should get yellows. They finish 1 chance so far, we miss ours? That simple. No reason we didn’t have an early 1-0 lead
