590 is reporting The Family Arena passed it up due to having "National Guard Maneuvers" on the parking lot this weekend.  Huh...

I got who to call on this one.  Wait one

Don't think we'd be able to lure Bucky away from his home turf and Moser seems to be staying for at least one more year.  Loved Brey at ND but not sure he's the answer in the new era of NIL and portal.  One of the low major guys would be the preference for me in that situation.

Yeah we could get Bucky. Yes he hasn't worked outside Alabama but money talks.

Just saying Brey is a known quantity to our booster base and had success in the mid-west but can he navigate NIL?

Why did no one hire Will Wade?

So there's some options left. I like our primary best.

  3. We joke about Ahearn but Texas fans have their version too.  There's always a vocal minority of fans that want Texas to hire Royal Ivey former Longhorn player and assistant at Houston Rockets. His head coaching experience, South Sudanese National Team.

What is Steve Lavin doing these days? He was all giggles when he and Majerus talked shop at ESPN.

Let's get his and Romar's mentor, Jim Harrick.  Only 85 yo, former National champion with A10 experience

give me Huggins.... say you what you want, but we'd be dancing in no time

Huggins is done.  He's been off the rails lately with issues.

Let’s have a separate thread about local media, so I can pass it by. I’m more concerned about what happens if Schertz says thanks but no thanks. Then who?

    Mike Brey is out there

    Samford Coach Bucky

    Colgate coach Langel

    Moser's seat heated up

    Morehead St coach Spradlin

    SDSU coach

Interim year of Romar and the Porters?

Save it. You've repeatedly trashed the guy and called for his firing. When someone listed the success the athletic program has enjoyed under May you were the one who said May was a douchbag and could not be judged by anything but the Ford buyout and the buyout set us back forever and May should be fired for it. Turns out the buyout was a moot point. The guy who agreed to the extension came in and paid it, paid the new coach and funded the money to bring his players. If May pulls this off you haters need to stfu for a while.

Except the last decade of SLU BB irrelevance he's great!

Good stuff DOC keep regaling us with your wisdom.

  8. Assuming it's Schertz, ISU may promote his lead assistant to the HC spot.  That may open up some spots on his staff, there are some interesting former HC's from the area that could be hired.  SMS D. Ford, UIC Yaklich, SIUC Mullins.  Total spit balling here but the MVC guys Schertz should know and they're in the area.  Yaklich, I mention as he's known to be the architect of the last good Michigan (2018) team's defense and thus he was hired away by Shaka Smart to Texas to help with the D.  He also worked in the MVC at Ill St. in 2017. That Michigan defense went from KenPom Adj Eff 69 to 2.

  9. @ARon interesting that they project Julian Larry to stay, I guess because he's been there 4 years.  He's from Frisco, TX, seems like the kinda guy UNT would snap up or SMU. Guy is solid.  Although if he doesn't come to SLU, that bodes well for Medley to stay and be PG. Though maybe he doesn't shoot enough 3PTRs for the offense.

I’ve been to Charleston many times, and think it’s a dump. Stupidest state in the country, biggest cock roaches I’ve ever seen, and hotter than hell in the summer. Not to mention the mosquitoes!

But also great downtown, restaurants, bars, golf, low country style food and beaches.

Oh if you're into golf that's good too.

Knowing what I know now, I'm happier with Schertz over a guy that seems to want to take it easy.

  11. One of the best things about St. Louis is the colloquial use of the term "Hoosier" in place of red neck or hick.  Just hilarious and when I went to SLU, I adopted its usage

Usage in a sentence:  "These hoosiers are slowing the TSA line down."

Variations when referring to multiple hoosiers:  [While at 6 Flags] "Look at those hoose-wads."

So it really makes me laugh the usage during that NIT interview.  Also love The Mad Hoosier from former St. Louis public access television, "World Wide Magazine".  You can find them on YouTube fyi.

ISU really got screwed by the selection committee. Not only did they miss out on a $2 million dollar payday but I would expect Schertz contract would auto extend and increase his buyout. It stinks, but this is just good biz by SLU. Like hiring Schertz from D2 was good biz by ISU.

Hate the player not the game.

  13. Tree fans are hurt that a program of SLU's stature, promising but yet to fulfill that promise, can roll in and Big Time them.  That's a tough pill to swallow.  It's a wake up call on where ISU is in the landscape of college basketball.

Hence their non-stop whining that they'd understand a P5 move but not SLU.

Sorry not sorry.  If Schertz works here I expect him to be hired away with the team in 3 years by a P5 school. But I reside in reality.

Hire well Trees so we can Deebo your next coach too.

  14. Former Dallas Jesuit HS 6'1, 190 lbs, SG Gavin Perryman enters the portal. Was recruited to Texas by Chris Beard. Didn't play much in 2 seasons.  Was unranked out of HS and walked-on.  Perhaps the high 3PT% and assists makes him good for 5 out?

    https://www.burntorangenation.com/2021/6/1/22464070/gavin-perryman-commits-texas-longhorns-recruiting-2021

"As a senior, Perryman averaged 19.6 points per game and shooting 45.8 percent from three-point range while leading Dallas Jesuit in assists (90) and steals (36). Perryman scored 34 points in two different games as a senior. An All-District first team selection as a sophomore and junior, Perryman led the Rangers in scoring and assists during the 2019-20 season."
