  1. The first time early in the second half, right after Hunt hit the three next to the Bills bench - sporting the "BILLieve" sign. Then again with a few minutes to go with another sign. Nice going Steve. You da man.... NICE WIN BOYS. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW.
  2. Here's how the American Midwest Conference tournamant of the NAIA is shaping up after one round. Round two has a couple of pretty nice matchups on tap. McKendree probably needs to win the whole thing to get to the nationals in KC this year, in my opinion. First Round: Tuesday, March 9, 2004 No. 1 - Missouri Baptist University - BYE No. 2 - Columbia College def. No. 7 - Harris-Stowe State College, 119-45 No. 3 - McKendree College def. No. 6 - Williams Baptist College, 127-69 Game 3: - No. 5 - Hannibal-LaGrange College def. No. 4 - University of Illinois-Springfield, 67-66 Semifinal Round: Thursday, March 11, 2004 Game 4: No. 5 - Hannibal-LaGrange College at No. 1 - Missouri Baptist University, 7 p.m. Game 5: #3 - McKendree College at No. 2 - Columbia College, 7 p.m. Final Round: Saturday, March 13, 2004 Winner of Game 4 vs. Winner of Game 5
  3. I was speaking with Earl Friday night. He doesn't think SLU hosts a first round NIT game this time around. One factor: attendance was very poor for the game last year. Only about 6 grand or so as I recall.
  4. Coach said in the post-game conference he didn't think this was the right game for Ian.
  5. Didn't leave early. In fact, may have showed up a little late. Not really certain. Maybe I just didn't notice. But he stayed for the end.
  6. ...Bob Costas was in the house tonight. He was sitting next to Woolard at center court on the opposite side of the floor from the scoring/media table. Nice game for him to watch, huh?
  7. Sorry to hear the news about Chris Thomas from WDAE radio in Tampa. I heard him a few times on my travels down south. From all accounts, I understand he was generally well liked by most. That's tough to do in radio. Regards, JM
  8. Check out the response I received from Mike Smith @ Bernie's Place. Kinda came outta nowhere. http://forums.stltoday.com/viewtopic.php?t=131205 >>mikesmith Staff Moderator Joined: 15 Apr 2002 Posts: 611 Posted: 17 Feb 2004 15:46 pm Post subject: Quick work, J Molina. When you can beat Billiken Roy to the punch and send away the SLU folks, you are indeed moving fast! _________________ mike smith, post-dispatch online sports editor <<
  9. "You guys who sit behind the opponents' bench: Tell the refs, constantly, that there's a coaching box." You are so correct. It's an absolute joke. Leitao damn near walked out to the free throw line a couple of times. Do your job refs!

  11. I thought it was outstanding. But I'm just that kind of guy. LOL!!!!!!
  12. I'm still out of town and can't seem to pull it up on line.
  13. Hey folks, down in the S. Tampa metro area for a week visiting some family. I could actually pick up KMOX last night while driving through Dothan, Alabama and heard the game. I can get the UAB radio network here (in the car anyway). So, I'm going to try to tune in the Bills game Saturday. SLU needs to take this next one. See ya all soon, JM
  14. .....(Frank)Cusumano tells us that former Marquette High star guard Troy Slaten has decided to play at UMSL and that former Vashon star Lorenzo Gordon might be headed to UMSL as well... << www.stltoday.com/sports
  15. The legendary Harry Statham, head coach of McKendree College(ILL.) out of the NAIA, shoots for career win No. 860 this Thursday evening. The Bearcats will be taking on Harris-Stowe State college in their new St. Louis arena, 3026 Laclede Ave on the H-S campus. Starting time will be 5 p.m. Some websites to check for additional info: http://www.mckendree.edu/sports/2003-04/M_...mbbschedule.htm http://www.naia.org/bko/bkc/stats.html http://www.riverbendsports.com/rbir.htm
  16. It seems sagarin is more used to rank conferences rather than individual teams. Is that not correct?
  17. ..but what exactly is the difference between the RPI and the Sagarin Rankings? Thank you, JM
  18. Who the heck designed that thing anyway? That is the strangest configuration I've seen for a basketball court ever....
  19. Same person. For how long is anyone's guess. http://forums.stltoday.com/viewtopic.php?t=123596
  20. He's getting ripped for what I consider some stupid bull$h!t on Bernie's Pressbox. Let's give the brother a hand. http://forums.stltoday.com/viewtopic.php?t=123597
  21. From the Sunday Post-Dispatch/Sports sect. SLU band hits sour note I have recently begun to notice signs held up by members of the St. Louis University band at Billikens' basketball games. I'm appalled by the sentiment expressed by these signs, GO HOME. WHO CARES? WHO'S THAT? when opposing team members are introduced. These signs are mean-spirited and surely not what we want to convey to visitors. Can't we just hold up signs cheering for our team? I would not feel very welcome if I were on the visiting team. Fans cannot be controlled, but surely the band members could be. I don't think we really want this message sent from our school and city. Barbara Berger, Chesterfield ____________________________________________________ Most of, if not all college students raz the visitors. Barbs is entitled to her own opinion. But I feel she's being way too sensitive. I've never heard a single player complain about such things.................JM
  22. >>Cusumano's contract expired Jan. 1, and he and his representative have been in discussion for a renewal. He also is talking to KFNS (590 AM, 100.7 FM), about working there full time. He already is host of a morning program there.<< I can tell you first hand, no other TV sports reporter in St. Louis attends as many SLU games as does Frank. It's not even close. (Different planets -wink). Without him at KSDK, it hurts the Bills exposure BIG TIME, in my opinion.
