  1. The A_Bomb...sorry to disappoint but I believe we are all entitled to have our own opinion on the NCAA Tourney games. I believe I gave an honest reason why I like them in the first game. Don't think they are going far this year; however, you can bet your sweet life that they will be in St. Louis trying to pick off any and all of the top rated players from now on. As a SLU fan I will be concerned as everyone on this website should be!
  2. I know it probably won't be pretty for the Lady Bills, even though I know the Lady Vols have some catching up to do with teams like South Carolina.
  3. And Hire a Mens Basketball HC which is her JOB!
  4. Cannot believe I'm saying this but go Tigers...never have rooted for them in Hoops, but their Lady AD appears to have hired a HC who at least appears to know what he is doing. NCAA Tourney in his initial season when no one really thought they had the talent to make it is an impressive start! This SLU fan is rather envious.
  5. From what I can tell unfortunately you are in the minority, but that's fine with me.
  6. Bye Bye!!!
  7. I'm not worried about other leagues I'm worried about SLU and right thinking SLU fans know what the problem is with SLU (hint for those who don't...HC). Fix that problem ASAP...hope the next one is very good then we can think about NCAA Tourney Appearances!!!
  8. I have always loved watching the NCAA Tourney. While I like when SLU gets in the Tourney I can still have rooting interests. Besides UT our obvious rooting interest I always root for the Zags (the successful Jesuit U). Since I went to Augustinian Academy I enjoyed and rooted for Villanova when they were very successful. Agree with the sentiment NCAA Tourney time is like a hoops holiday for people who really enjoy college hoops. I don't get bent out of shape that the P-5 have the most teams and I do get a kick out of it when one of them gets upset by a small school as long as it's not UT.
  9. When it last expanded the Big East took Xavier and Butler and did not take SLU. With our lack of success under Travis Ford what would make one think now that the Big East is ready to invite SLU into their league? Perhaps some other league would be willing to take the Bills and frankly I do agree it is time to look around as the A-10 looks like it might continue to be a one team NCAA Tourney league and outside of Dayton is not much of a rivalry fit.
  10. Unfortunately, my SLU alma mater sucks a lot more than the Vols have for a number of years in mens hoops.
  11. Don't know Duff Man but have a hunch Frisco Area Billiken would feel Ford is Grawer 4.0 and would hope both he and May got raises and extensions!
  12. Conference started going downhill with the Butler and Xavier exits to the Big East. The pre-season darlings were both SLU and Dayton, and neither had impressive results and VCU left both teams in the rear view mirror. Both Dayton and SLU HC's should be on short leashes!
  13. Since SLU is not in...gotta root for the Vols. Last year I thought they'd advance at least a couple rounds. This year they were hot early and until the injury bug hit I thought they could make a run. Now without Zakai Ziegler their PG and a great defender I'll be surprised if they advance very far. They are still the top defensive team and if they bring it on D and get some offense too I can be mildly surprised with a run. I know the talking heads on CBS did not like their 1st team draw, but that team got waxed by Texas who was one of UT's big wins. Hope springs eternal!!!
  14. Lady Vols will be a handful for the Lady Bills to beat at TBA. Any SLU fans planning the trip to Knoxville will see the Pat Summitt outside the Arena and all of the NCAA Banners she won as the Lady Vols HC. Current HC Kellie Harper played on a NCAA Champion for Pat.
  15. LMAO!!!
  16. Roy, You make a lot of good points, and I will always root for the SLU hoops team just as I do Shari's Vols team. I also understand the difference between the two U's. While my wife went there I have had the chance to go to a number of football and basketball games at UT. Their facilities are 2nd to none. Having been to some SEC away basketball venues I actually prefer Chaifetz to some SEC venues. The difference between SLU and UT in hoops is there is no comparison to their HC's Rick Barnes will be in the HOF shortly after he retires at UT, and yes he makes more than Ford. I don't know if there is any MBM who truly knows what the real financial situation is regarding the money people supporting SLU's Hoops team is? If there is sure would be nice if they speak up here...it's frustrating for lifelong fans/graduates! That IMHO is the $64K question that needs to be answered...along with the number of years left on both Ford and May's contracts...at some point the trigger needs to be pulled on incompetence. Smaller U's than SLU have fired their HC in less than 7 unproductive years. It is tough seeing the NCAA Selection show again tonight with other Catholic U's getting into the Tourney and many are familiar names (some were SLU opponents in prior leagues and/ or the A-10) who obviously put an emphasis that True Blue Billiken Fans always just hope SLU would put on the Bills Hoops team. Chaifetz was a major step and one hopes coaching SLU's revenue sport gets the needed leader ASAP!
  17. Can I assign you to do my research in the future? I'm well past my college days when I had to do lots of that!
  18. Worth watching for sure!!!
  19. No team went to the NCAA in the Covid year! Travis Ford has been HC for 7 years and has 1 NCAA trip when his team had to win 4 games to get there. I was thrilled then but they did get drilled by VA Tech. No I don't know you, but what does that have to do about posting on a SLU fan website. Now I did know quite a few MBM's when I lived in the Lou and was a Billiken Club Member for years, as well as a season ticket holder for years. Wow...BAB are you counting my posts??? if so, you have more time than I do! Stand down. That seems inappropriate from a fellow MBM. Whether I agree or disagree I'd NEVER say that to another MBM for any reason!
  20. I think I got your last rib...yes I do root for my wife of 44 years TN Vols just as she has those same years for SLU. Happy to say the Vols are going to the NCAA Tourney again as they do almost every year (How boring...Huh). Meanwhile my Alma Mater 1 in last 7 just doesn't cut it with me. Guess you are completely happy with that record so we'll NEVER AGREE on SLU Hoops even though we still root for them!
  21. Thanks I thought it was rather insightful considering the circumstances with SLU's hoops program. Don't see how it has anything to glue unless you were sniffing it when you sent me this post???
  22. There aren't anymore Rick Majerus out there. Hell, I'd be happy if we had an AD that would find the next Dennis Gates. I'm confident some AD who knows what they are doing will find that HC. After 7 years with only one NCAA Tourney I'd wager you're in the minority on Ford doing pretty well. This year his team pre-season wise the pundits had his SLU team as a lock for NCAA Tourney and sure Top 25 team. Once again another F grade!
  23. Thanks for the correction...see he started at SLU in 2007. We moved from the Lou in 1996 and were living in Palm Harbor, FL in 2007. Saw a couple games Rick coached at SLU. Last great HC at SLU!!!
  24. By the way, I don't think I riled the MBM's up today! I've read several posts today and I think they were already riled up with the p!ss poor product they watched in the last 7 years. Last time I checked in the A-10 which is not anywhere near the P-5 I also watch the object every year is to get a NCAA Tourney Bid, and 1 in 7 doesn't seem to hack it with very many MBM's!
