  1. I think an automatic NCAA bid would be a pretty remote possibility for this team, as the automatic bid goes to CUSA conference tourney winner. Now stranger things have happened (like 2000) but at least right now I don't see it with the 2002-03 team.
  2. I think Thicks has a valid point about last nights contest. After their one Butler mini run to cut it to 12 around the halfway point of the 2nd half...the Bills went on another run and put the game out of reach. They were comfortably ahead with 2-3 minutes left and Coach could have given both JJ and DC minutes then. Both of these players appear to have big upsides and there would have been no harm to get them minutes at the end of last nights game.
  3. Into what happened last night...plus keep in my Tom did not get into early foul trouble which allowed Coach Soderberg ample opportunity to shorten his bench. Time, game circumstances, and health of the players will determine exactly what Coach Soderberg's rotation will be. If Josh's injury is more serious than first glance then he could be forced to go deeper to his bench...we already know he prefers an 8 player rotation.
  4. Apparently, neither of those two got the splinters our of their rear ends from sitting on the bench all night.
  5. I'd like the 8 man rotation better if, and when, RV moves to the bench JJ gets his minutes and we'll keep our fingers crossed that Ian turns out to be as good as Coach has hyped him...it may just take him this year to sort of get his feet wet in how D-1 ball is played.
  6. David, I did not think that you were trying to diss Fish as I wasn't either. In the perfect world, Fish would be a wing and we would have the prototypical PG. I'm certainly OK with Coach playing him at the PG because he is our best option this year.
  7. I think it has got to be too early to tell how Tom will fare. It would be unfair to judge him now after 9 games, but a few more double-doubles could change my mind quicker. No question that it would be nice to see him sink a few more of his free throws, but other than that he had a heckuva game tonight in the post. Question for those at the game, who was trying to guard the Sheets kid who did light us up for 25 tonight.
  8. Nark, You won't get much argument out of me. I like Fish too but he is not your typical PG, but instead is playing the position out of necessity. Having said that I hope he is good to go for the Dayton tussle, as we need him to play his stellar defensive game and chip in with whatever he can on offense. It's not like we have an a star player to step into his spot if his injury is serious.
  9. I have to throw in my congrats to our host on that large hamburger race win...you need to come up with a sign touting your new prowess.
  10. Nice home cooking win for our guys. Tom Frericks had a breakout game with 18 pts and I believe 12 boards. Hopefully, this is a look of things to come from Tom. Reggie had a nice 2nd half with 18. We got up by 20 and Butler made one little run and cut it to 12 and then the Bills went on another run to sew this victory up. We really needed this win and Coach Soderberg really shortened the bench as apparetly according to the Butler announcers only 7 Billiken players saw action tonight. Enjoy this win and then get ready to take on Dayton. We should have a better idea where this team is after the last two non-conference games.
  11. Tom has a super game going 17 points and 12 boards.
  12. If we hold on to win this one, rebounding will be a big reason because we are killing Butler on the boards.
  13. Frericks has 14 which is his Billiken high for season...Reggie warming up a bit in the 2nd half and now has 11. Butler has not scored a FG yet this half only 3 FT so far.
  14. At least that's the way it is early in the 2nd half.
  15. Getting internet feed from Indy Sports radio station 1430 WXNT.
  16. Fish was down on the floor and may have turned an ankle...stay tuned on this possible bad news.
  17. I just hooked up to the Butler feed which is a freebie...too bad SLU can't get us a free radio feed. These Butler guys were crowing about the defensive job Butler did on Reggie Bryant.
  18. Well the 4-5 Bulldogs come into St. Louis after an ugly home loss to WI Green Bay. They don't look particularly big and are led in scoring by 6'5" Mike Monserez with just 11 pts a game. He is also their top rebounder at 6.8 boards a game. While it is early in the season, Butler's RPI is 207 while we are 209. We need to come out and establish ourselves early on at home against a Butler team that you know will be well coached. We need a win badly after a disappointing game VS the Bears last Saturday. This could be one of those tough defensive struggles where every possession is important. Let's Go Bills!!!
  19. Oh Boy, a UW VS MU cat fight...just in time for Xmas.
  20. It's simple if you don't like the thread(s) then don't respond. Let me assure you since you have not been a frequent poster on this board, the disliking of the programs is pretty much mutual and MANY MooFans come over here to voice their opinions about SLU. The smack talking among the fans of the two schools will have nothing to do with whether, or not, the programs play each other...that will be decided by the AD's and HC's.
  21. Could be as he was a former college and pro HC.
  22. I'll be waiting to read some good reports. Is Bone still HC at Collinsville? It seems like it has been some time since the Kahoks have had a good basketball team...I never thought I'd live to see the day when they weren't one of the top HS teams in the area.
  23. Watching 7'2" Nick Smith who I thought had a nice game outside of his FT...makes me hopeful that someday Byrce Husak could give our team some of the same characteristics in the post. I don't recall Smith looking that good last year so obviously his hard work paid dividends.
