  1. to be honest, if channel 5 doesnt want to commit to showing the games as played, they need to let those events go to the cable stations that will.
  2. 60 seconds thicks. inexcuseable. like i said, if i read tomorrow in the paper that thousands of lives were saved today because ksdk interupted just in time and had they waited another 60 seconds to tell us the storm was coming the population of warrenton and wentzville would have been wiped out, then i will go down to the station and apologize. 60 seconds.
  3. all goes back to the AAU b.s. the kids are not developing true basketball skills imo. those aau coaches let them do whatever. same with a lot of the college coaches. they dont know how to play the game and it suffers all the way up to the top of the nba. meanwhile in foreign countries they still teach them the skills to play the game. there is no doubt our players might be bigger, stronger, jump higher and run faster, but unless they will decide games by doing a version of the decathlon, that wont cut it.
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3469 according to his bio while still on the warriors he was 6'4".
  5. as i said above, as the game was unfolding, i felt the only american player i would have in the argentinian starting lineup was duncan. ginobli should be a star right now in the nba. why isnt sanchez in the nba? same with the long haired guy and the other forwards. they were a good team.
  6. i didnt realize that. i guess they had to show on tape delay so they could broadcast the precious noon news. the fact is, had they shown the game live, the weather fiasco doesnt even happen. and second, if the game is on tape, why when they went back couldnt they have resumed action where they cut in? now i am even more p!ssed off. frank, you need to talk to the knuckleheads down there. they didnt show good judgement today on any of this.
  7. as i was watching the second half, i kept saying to myself, other than duncan, what usa player would i rather have on the floor instead of his counterpart on argentina? i am not arguing that talentwise the usa player might be better, but none were better basketball players. i would take ginobli, sanchez as my guards over all the usa guards, i would take that long haired guy over all the usa small forwards. the usa just plays stupid. duncan comes back in and they have no one to real match up against him proof of that is he draws 4 fouls in about 2 minutes, but they quit even looking for him. sad sad day. i wish i knew how the last minute played out. but by a great show of wisdom, channel 5 put the weather on to end the game. someone should be fired over that.
  8. i couldnt believe it. with less than a minute to go in this historic (but sad) game, channel 5 cuts in with a weather update! they couldnt wait 60 seconds? let them hear about it. [email protected] is their e-mail address and the phone number for the main switchboard is 314/421-5055 they need to be blasted for this stupid decision, imo there is no excuse for it.
  9. oh, that explains why they still play this stupid clear out nonesense where everyone stands behind the 3 point line and the guy with the ball and maybe one other guy play. if the zone was completely legal, and shaq was standing under the basket waiting for you, you can bet iverson wouldnt be driving to the basket anymore. that clears that up for me. thanks david. i didnt know that stupid wrinkle was out there.
  10. willie said, "I think Claiborne and Slaten are working well together." i think they are tolerable together which to be honest i didnt think would work, but i also think that today's show has been his best since coming to kfans. i.e. slaten excels when he is completely the show. for what it is worth, his discussion topics today have been great. of course the psl discussion is a favorite of mine though. he is right on the mark when he made the point that it is too over the top. especially the numbers he was talking. $5k per seat per year just to keep the psl! crazy.
  11. billiken rich said, "I'd rather watch JULIA CHILD MAKING LOVE than the NBA." wow, that's not a pretty picture you just painted for us........ but it serves the purpose. i now totally believe that rich doesnt want to watch nba basketball.
  12. tonka said, "Keep in mind, there are basketball fans and there are NBA fans." good point. the last nba dime i spent was to go watch the sixers vs whoever when hughes and iverson came to the savvis to play. i was amazed at the different crowd at the game compared to a billiken game. i hate to stereotype, but in that instance you cant help but do it. i was definitely in the minority at that game. now what is really amazing, is that i paid a hell of a lot more for very mediocre seats to an exhibition game as compared to my 9th row courtside seats for the billikens. i.e. the other fans that were at this sixers game could have probably went to 3 regular season billiken games for the money they paid to watch that mess that night in an exhibition game. they obviously dont all come out to the billikens game, so the assumption can easily be made that they would rather watch nba basketball. that is why i now defend st louis when the argument is going on about whether or not nba basketball might make it in st louis. i now believe you are talking about a whole different subset of fans as compared to a billiken game, thus an nba presense would not disturb the current fan base of the billikens.
  13. rich, i assume you mean todays nba. because the nba of the 80's was fantastic. bird's celtics, magic's lakers, isiah's pistons, were all fun to watch. and i became a big pistons admirer in the playoffs this past season. who knows, maybe the tide is turning. i will believe it when i see it, but who knows. it just irks me that the likes of iverson could have been the greatest with the skills he has, instead he comes off to me as total trash and selfish. i blame the likes of stern who wasnt smart enough to see that jordan was an exception. that the nba's popularity was at it's alltime highest when team stars like bird, magic and thomas were in charge.
  14. i did not see the game today, but my biggest b!tch with anything to do with the nba is the "mefirst, teamwhatever" attitude. if you are telling me that was not there today, glory glory glory. with the likes of iverson, marbury, odom on the team, i find that hard to believe, but maybe miracles do happen.
  15. if there is a national championship for cheating, i am on.
  16. why would you think i am anykind of a follower of mi$$ouri basketball? i hate their cheating a$$es. however between the papers and tv, we do get it rammed down our throat enough to know what is going on. hype would infer that they just werent good. at least not as good as "hyped". how would that have kept them from achieving? i.e. hype had nothing to do with it. bad coaching and bad attitudes and bad leadership had a lot more to do with it imo. thanks for the snob comment. being called a snob from a tiger fan is somewhat of a badge. it infers you must not think you are on the same level as us billiken fans. i like that.
  17. wow, that might be something to see. bullseye thinks that hales is the bet team in the state regardless of enrollment though. so my guess is that the inside players of hale will be superior. still a nice test of young mr lisch that will get bigtime exposure.
  18. hype had nothing to do with the mi$$ouri flop last year. try poor coaching and poor leadership as well as a lot of distractions. all brought on by $nyder.
  19. cheeser said, "I'd also like to know what makes all of you feel that Quin tells multiple recruits they are going to "be the man" at Mizzou?" how many other teams have had nearly as many players transfer out of the original program?
  20. he already has done that. a verbal committment can be given at anytime. for example, my 8th grade daughter has already verbally committed to slu, but that doesnt mean she has to follow through on that in 5 years. a verbal committment doesnt mean anything, it is just a "tell the world your intentions" statement that normally let's an opposing college coach to not waste their time. most coaches will have the respect of the other to not cross that imaginary line. however in recent years, more and more coaches have begun to indeed cross that line. last year, huggins took a point guard verbally committed to baylor out from under scott drew's nose. day of signing, baylor is waiting for their letter and bam, it hits the internet that he signed with cincy. the point is, until november officially puts it in writing, he is open game regardless of his current verbal intentions. and if the likes of lon kruger will cross over an in writing signing like he did this summer, what respect will the sharks show to tommie's verbal this fall? tommie has to stand up and say "sorry, going to be a billiken". otherwise, if he listens they can talk.
  21. a reminder to all, as of monday morning, tommie became a "recruitable athlete" again. i.e. slu no longer has any rank and priviledges towards tommie. we have to go through the entire recruiting process again with tommie and the last thing we need is to get in brad's way at this point because of some technicality.
  22. judging by the kids ages, i would guess he is one and the same.
  23. apparently quin promises every recruit they will "be the guy" at mi$$ouri based on the number of transfers pretty Q has had since he came to tigertown. i am sure mckinney is real thrilled with the way his career has went as "the guy".
  24. our coaches always tell us that they dont look at websites. besides, if my memory serves me correctly, we indirectly let the coaching staff know that the unlv tomfoolery was going on. had it not been for the internet and the boards, who knows how deep tommie might have gotten in rebel goo. our coaches knew nothing when stu contacted brad for comment. and we let stu know that we had read the report on insiders.com.
