  1. hmmmmm, if yelowich is definitely out even though he has the physical dimensions that coach brad seems to want in his big recruits, and grimes seems to be a far off dream, and shaw isnt being offered yet, there must be someone else.
  2. if stanford is seriously considering luke, than luke must not be a bad choice.
  3. basketbill, are you saying that the billikens are not interested in yelovich because you were told that, or because you are assuming that via the signings this year? sloan is graduating and we know that an inside player is on the billiken wish list. why wouldnt yelovich fill the order but grimes or shaw would?
  4. jeffers actually broke his wrist and missed the entire summer camp season which is vital to the chances of a second round pick or a free agent to have a chance to make an nba roster. he virtually had no chance once he suffered that injury. it is great to hear mo graduated. for aj, fyi, maurice's graduation is an example of one that DOES NOT count in the graduation rate numbers that you so graciously quoted to us before. mo did not get that degree in the ncaa required time period. so when maurice's class is included in the future numbers, it assumes that mo never graduated. the fact is, he did. as did many other slu former players that apparently are not included in those numbers. slu sticks by these players to help them complete their degree eventually, whereas the oklahoma's of the world just say "see ya". somehow that should be considered in the numbers. as to perry, i agree he needs to enroll in a foreign language class.
  5. if indeed the position goals are one point guard, one wing and one inside player, i would think luke is positioned behind liddell, evans, and humphrey for the wing spot. no inside info on that, but it is what makes sense to me. cameron murkey might be in that mix as well.
  6. the 6'9" center from mt zion, illinois, i think the name is mick yelovich, who also is a superb golfer, has been mentioned as a billiken prospect many times. i also like to think that maybe juco pf taj gray hasnt forgotten about the billikens. taj was supposedly wrapped up by coach romar before coach romar took the washington job, but then the fact romar was not going to be here and the fact that taj did not academically qualify sent him to the juco ranks. taj is a stud. btw, i was talking to a belleville east coach last night and was told that mike dale indeed is following stetson hairston to siu carbondale, but it is assumed he will have to sit the first year due to his gpa at east.
  7. i believe the acceptable ACT is now a sliding scale sort of thing. it depends what your college prep class gpa ends up. i dont know the exact numbers, but let's say a 3.0 gpa needs a 17 ACT score then a 2.0 GPA might need a 20 ACT. i.e. need to ace one or the other.
  8. if he can pass the ACT for marquette and not slu that would surprise me.
  9. imo, young mr grimes various interviews are starting to remind me of jamal sampson's a couple of years ago. everyone you read seems to change the focus a little. anyone read the charlie villaneava (sp?) stuff today at espn? this kid is sure full of himself. apparently now says he will go to uconn IF he doesnt go to the nba. however right now he is working out at mark mccormick's imf school in florida. yeah, who is paying for that? that is the sports school in florida that costs mega bucks to attend. and oh yes, mccormick is one of the original sports agent guys that screwed up the sports world btw. wouldnt that association alone perk up the ncaa's ears? personally, i dont think charlie ever plays college ball, but if he does, something or someone should check it out.
  10. i do tend to read books and watch movies too much. :-)
  11. the reason c-usa is a "sinking ship" is because of the totally unorganized and ill-advised direction of mike slive imo. how the sec could see fit to make him captain of their ship is beyond me. the league starts out as a basketball focus and then somewhere shortly after the origination they decide they are a football conference that needs quantity not quality members. had to be an afterthought or else slu, marquette, depaul and charlotte would have never been included. then look at the conference set-up. first we have the red, white and blue divisions. cute, but not practical. ditch that. then american and national divisions. better, but now we have hurt memphis feelings by not letting them play the 5 best teams in the conference twice a year in basketball. so now we are throwing them all together, however, because the conference has overexpanded, it isnt reasonable to play everyone twice, so somehow each year 4 teams will be picked by each school to play twice (i have a mental picture of pitino and calipari in their basement getting drunk and making out the conference schedule). yeah it looks real bad, but in the same sense, there is still merrit in trying to fix it too. but damned if i would wait till the last second. either be the agressor and go out and get the needed schools to improve the situation or get the merger/mix with the big east started to shake it out basketball/football. it can be done. we got one of the best school presidents in the country that knows how to make it happen. go shock the world again father biondi.
  12. torch said, "I don't think he would risk pissing off any CUSA mambers or admin if he wasn't positive they would not be a part of it much longer." personally i think rick truly believes he is bigger than college basketball and can say or do whatever he wants. he couldnt care less who he p!sses off or on.
  13. it's kind of interesting that according to the board profiles, your last name and too's last name are the same only different spellings. but i have also learned that you cant trust a lot of these profiles here as many are full of made up information. btw, you havent ruffled my feathers one bit. as rich detailed, i just enjoy defending the billiken fandom honor. especially against the evil tiger empire. i really dont take it personal. i would be happy to have a beer with you and too anytime. i bet it would be one hell of an interesting evening.
  14. not really, but i wont hide my dislike for the typical tiger fans like you and too. there are about 325 division I program fan groups i would say i would prefer to converse with and hear from before any tiger fans. i just dont understand why you dont just leave us alone. you dont see us on the tigerboard do you?
  15. glad to have you here slick rick. we love you too. http://syracuse.com/sports/poststandard/sn...72630858190.xml
  16. i promise, if i am the sole winner of BOTH the powerball and mega millions grand prizes this week, i will pay the rest of the needed funds and your statement can come true. how is that for going out on the line! p.s. i guess i better go buy tickets.
  17. pinkie, you must be kidding? if you love him so much, plead with him to frequent your tigerboard. you can have him.
  18. david check your e-mail. i will give you the rumor i heard.
  19. a memphis fan posted this on their board today. no idea what her source is, but if true numbers interesting. can anyone verify if true? CUSA vs. Big East Louisville-18,929.....Syracuse-17,023 Memphis-16,225.....UCONN-13,709 Marquette-12,680.....St. John's-9,299 Cincy-12,058.....Seton Hall-8,341 St. Louis-11,598.....Georgetown-8,194 Charlotte-7,484.....Providence-8,006 S. 20. skip we have tried ignoring him. he is like johnson grass though. i try to stay away, but so so often he blantantly lies or misrepresents the true picture, someone has to say something.
  21. as usual, tri, you apparently did zero homework before spewing your jibberish. first on xaiver, he indeed did list st louis as a finalist. this is from bob gibbons new website, "hoopmasters.com": "Two More Juniors Make Early Decisions By Jeremy Tiers [email protected] A pair of outstanding guards, one from Illinois, and the other from Texas, recently decided that they were ready to make their collegiate decision. Xavier Price, a 6-3 200 lbs. 2G with the St. Louis Eagles recently decided to offer Gene Keady and the Purdue Boilermakers a verbal commitment. Price has turned in strong performances this spring at the Howard Pulley/Sabes Invitational, St. Louis Eagles Invitational, and the NIKE MDC. He is a big time athlete and scoring guard that can handle the ball and brings energy and toughness to the table. As a junior, Price averaged 18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game at O’Fallon H.S. in O’Fallon, IL. Price chose Purdue over heavy interest from Cincinnati, UNLV, Oklahoma, St. Louis, and Kansas State, among others." as to his reasons for transferring to belleville west, i doubt seriously if it has any social roots other than the fact that o'fallon high sucks and belleville west is a returning final 8 team with 3 returning stars besides xaiver. that and the fact xaiver's father moved to belleville. maybe you could expand on your "socialism" comment more though for our benefit? second item of no research, thornton has already declared he is headed to xavier per chris monter. look it up for yourself at http://collegebasketballnews.theinsiders.com/ according to the story at chris' site, thorton didnt even consider louisville. it came down to xavier, michigan and boston college. atendance record vs arizona? why? no rivalry, not a returning close game it follows a blowout last year and most, besides our little circle of billiken hardcores, will expect the same this year. i personally will be suprised if the game sells out. the dome would have been a huge mistake. your efforts to try to make our papal conference dreams look non-politically correct have been comical. if it is so wrong to not have any religious diversity in this dreamed conference, then why isnt wrong that the big 12 has zero private religious affiliated schools in the makeup? wouldnt the diversity issue work both ways? last, still waiting to hear your comments on why pulley is now a candidate for big 12 player of the year when he was a coach romar recruit to st louis university you considered him poison? especially considering that he has demonstrated at st louis and at juco that he cant shoot. why the flip flop?
  22. rich, i too was p.o'd when vince the mayor wouldnt let kiel be built across from the ballpark where those horrible warehouses were. but you have to hand it to vince now, the westin turned out gorgeous imo. the man had some forsight, he just didnt have the right developers lined up at the time. father biondi has never let old buildings stop him before in his rebirthing efforts i doubt anyone would stop him now. he's on a roll, let him run.
  23. basketbill said, "I expect more from clarke going in than I did of Drejaj going in." i dont simply because the wing spots are full with returnee's drejaj and fisher and upper classmen newbies, bryant and morris. plus brad is on record saying that between sloan and izik, they will man the 3 and the 4 spot as well quite often. clarke will have to be very special to get a lot of minutes imo. i am not saying clarke isnt capable of that, we dont know. but the fact is we have a lot of folks coming back that will expect to get major minutes at the 3 guard/wing spots available. clarke is the obvious guy to see spotty time imo.
  24. pinky, if you care to look around the board, you brought it up, not us.
