shempie
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/ncaatourney...%3fid%3d2308853 I get sick of this particular discussion. Yes, the Valley is having a good year and based on where we stand today could get more teams in than the A10. However, historically, the A10 has received more bids as borne out by this article and wasn't it just two years ago the A10 had 2 teams in the Elite 8? I always liked this move, similar schools (academics, religous affiliations) in similar markets. And based on what is happening in the unwieldy Big East one has to wonder how long it will be before some of the non-football schools decide that conference doesn't work because of size and we might see yet another restructuring. Anyway, thought some of you might enjoy the reading.
kshoe
all I could think about was how many times Cinci entered the tourney as a 2 seed only to lose in the 2nd round. The may have been the flagship of CUSA but their poor NCAA performance was a large part of the reason CUSA never became a top 6 conference. Billikan
how the schools that went to the Big East from CUSA are struggling to win in conference. Louisville is a disaster since they started conference play when they were highly ranked. What a joke to think that South Florida could succeed in the BE in basketball. They are now just an easy W for teams looking to build up a winning record. SF is 0-6, DePaul is 1-6, Louisville is 2-6, Cinn. is 3-4. The only team with a winning record in conf is Marquette and they have beaten only UConn--a very nice win-- when you look at wins against the top teams in the conference. If the post season would start today only Marquette and Cinn. would even make the Big East postseason tournament. On the other hand, Memphis, who stayed in CUSA now is the top, top dog and they will be a high seed because they will have an extremely high winning percentage--and a good RPI becuase they played some high ranked teams early.
