Great interview with Coach Shields, and another enjoyable podcast. A couple of comments:

1.) You mentioned what a fun experience attending a SLU fall sports event is, and I couldn’t agree more. For those with young kids, in years past at the women’s soccer games they’ve had inflatable bouncy castles and other games in the open area north of the stadium, and in a tent right to the north of the east stands, they’ve had face painters and people making balloon animals for the kids. Has to be the best entertainment value in town for those with small kids.

2.) In the past, Zac and Pete have mentioned that SLU’s non-revenue sports facilities could use some updates. For those who are interested, go take a look at Lindenwood’s baseball stadium, softball stadium, tennis courts (yes, they have that on campus) and dedicated track and field facility (they are all to the west of the stadium). They play volleyball in the Hyland Center on campus, which can hold three times what Chaifetz Pavilion holds for a volleyball game. While Chaifetz has them beat as far as basketball is concerned, I think Lindenwood beats SLU’s facilities in the other sports. Pete is not going to get a chance to compare, but I think Zac should head over there and tell us what he thinks, as can anyone who wants to drive out to St Charles and take a look for themselves.
