slufan13
Xavier's AD is going to be the chairman of the Selection Committee in the 2012-2013 season. I think we should definitely be a tournament team, but it won't hurt to have a conference member in charge of the committee to help us out. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/6766792/xavier-musketeers-ad-mike-bobinski-head-ncaa-selection-committee
Quality Is Job 1
Oh, I don't know. I fear it may hurt more than it would help. He may not lobby as hard out of concern of appearing to add bias in favor of the conference.

Very much in the future and hypothetical, but if we have a huge year maybe he would place us in KC for the first 2 rounds. Also, Xavier could end up in Dayton in the first 2 rounds. JettFlight5
It never hurts to have some one else in the room who has seen you play. Because most of the rest of the Selection Committee doesn't know that they play basketball outside the BCS.

For-DaLove
Don't they excuse themselves when teams under their purview come up?I'm not sure. It would make sense, though, and probably happens. I've never thought about that before.
Hawk
Don't they excuse themselves when teams under their purview come up? Yes. The laptops of fake Beebe and fake Gene Smith (SI's Davis and Steve Scheer of CBS Sports) had one extra item on the screen. A red stripe informed the fake committee members that they were ineligible to vote. "You are restricted from participating due to conflicts with teams in this election," the message inside the stripe reads. Beebe couldn't participate in a vote involving Texas and Kansas, and Smith couldn't participate in one involving Ohio State. The real Smith had explained this process earlier. Whenever the Buckeyes are discussed next month, he won't be in the room. "I'll be in the other room," he said, "eating chocolate pretzels." xfactor9600
Yes. Source: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/02/21/mock.tournament.selection/index.html Bobinski just leaves the room when Xavier is discussed. I believe he can stay in the room when any other A-10 team is considered.
