Basketbill
from A 10 website: Dayton's Men's Soccer Ranked No. 8; Duquesne Enters National Poll for First Time at No. 22 - 10/13/2003 The University of Dayton men’s soccer team, already off to its best start since 1973, received the highest rank in the program’s history Monday, climbing to No. 8 in the National College Soccer Association of America’s Top 25. Dayton debuted in the poll last week at No. 18, but a win over No 13. Massachusetts propelled the Flyers into the top 10 this week.
thetorch
They are an improving league. The teams at the bottom though are very very bad. It would not be too bad to dominate a league without question though. A team with the national clout SLU has can get good non con games and top rankings without playing in a power conference. slufanskip
Up until very recently CUSA was not that good in soccer either. Now they usually have a couple in the top 25 ... plus they are solid throughout. According to the initial post with SLU added the A-10 would have 3 in the top 25 ... I don't know the history of the rest of the conference or how good they are ... but SLU will always play tough non conf games plus the top few in the A-10 will give them a fine schedule. To be honest ... a couple of patsies in between might not hurt. This year there were very few easy games in CUSA ... especially on the road. Congrats to the Lady Bills they were seeded 5th in the CUSA tourney and beat S.Fla 2-0 it was scoreless until about the last 10 minutes, then they cemented it with 10 seconds left. They play 1 seed UAB tonight. A win here could get them in the NCAA tourney. They are a team on the way up and have been improving every year. Junior Jamie Perry is an outstanding player ... she just set the career SLU scoring record.
Lobo
SLU could very easily serve as a catalyst for the A-10 to improve in soccer. Congrats to the lady bills in their win over USF. Would love to see them go to the NCAA and do well. The men's team will have a tough one this saturday at UAB, but a must win game in order to win CUSA for 8th time. Go Bills - ladies and gentlemen!
