Man, was this one tough on the old ticker!

We start cold as ice and Diener hits everything he throws up and we are immediately down 10--for our Billikens it is like a 20 point deficit!

To the team's credit, again, we do not quit and we keep battling. In my opinion the turning point in the game is when Drejaj started to guard Diener and forced him to take very tough shots in the last 10 minutes of the first half.

The calls just before the half were killers. Diener is fouled at the free throw line and goes all the way and scores and they give him the NBA continuation play--basket good and the free throw. On the next play with under 30 seconds left Reggie drives and is pushed by a MU player into another player as he is shooting and they wave off the basket and call a charge. Painful. Brad almost blew a gasket!!!

The second half was full of wishful highs and depressing lows-- all because our defense was terrific and the offense, particularly Reggie, was offensive. Reggie was 4 for 14 and at least 8 or 9 were terrible shots, bricks or airballs. As his defense has gotten better his offense has gone south. Let's hope his shot selection and his aim are better later in the year!

Tom F. was a big key to the game. Ian started and we got behind by 10--tom came in a made his physical presence felt immediately. He had a bunch of tough rebounds --9--and some very nice low post shots--9 points. His achilles heel is that he misses time and time again at the free throw line. Painful to watch--his mechanics are much better than Kenny Brown but the results were the same tonight. But he was in much pain so that may have affected him.

IO was fantastic tonight. He played very tough defense and really helped keep them off the offensive boards. he only had two rebounds credited to him but he played hard and blocked out. He made some nice shots but they played him for the dribble and clogged the lane. His late free throws were like water in the desert to a man in the hot sun-- much needed and life saving! Late in the game we were playing with three guards, sloan at the four and IO at the five. really amazing that he could hang in there and compete.

The all around star of the game was chris sloan. he never quit and he chased people all around. He was like a free safety--He would look for any man who was close and immediately help and double team. His passing was good -5 assists--and he scored 13 big points. What a great turnaround for chris. He deserves a medal.

I never cease to be amazed at thow Brad's team can come back from the brink. that 4 game losing streak looked like it could be much longer and then we pull out two extremely hard fought, tough games.

My hat is off to our Billikens--and I am praying for a good shooting night!!
