painter isnt going anywhere. first off, the world will want to see if he can recruit his own team. second, he probably wants to play this out himself. the soonest the matt painter auction would start is probably 2006.

weber was not offered the slu job. he was asked to interview and he declined. maybe felt he was above the interview process, who knows. but it was said by doug woolard the day romar resigned he would gather a group of 3 or 4 strong candidates for the selection committee to interview. after weber refused to be a part of the group, it came down to coach soderberg, gregory and the guy from ball state.

Agreed - aren't people putting the cart before the horse. Painter has done fine with the team he inherited - Romar got to the Big Dance with the team he inherited and see what happened after he started having to live off his recruits. Now Roy - I am not taking a shot a Romar just trying to point out that early success does not mean it continues.
