Our big man needs to play hard

Recommended Posts

It seems like he just doesn't care.

He regressed from last year. No Passion - No Heart - Settles for average play

Go get a rebound - How about taking the ball to the basket.

He is one of the biggest disappointments in the college area basketball local scene in a long time. (2 State Teams)

He went from being a clutz to a being a very good player to being an average player.

I don't know if I have ever seen such a roller coster. It is his play that has tanked the season and it probably is costing him big money and will cost his coach a coaching career at St. Louis University.

IV gave this team 18points and 8 rebounds today.

-It's not his fault that this offense is stagnant and predictable and that every time he gets doubled team or tripled teamed after a catch there is no one to pass back out to for an open shot. Have you seen this one time this year? No. The only time IV has been able to dump back out is his patented throw to the corner. If you want teams to leave IV alone then you have to have an offense that has good spacing and allows for a kickout pass when the post is doubled or even tripled. Right now this team doesn't have that.

-IV is totally dependent on his teammates to get him the ball. If they don't make the entry pass or have proper spacing then he isn't and will never be effective.

-I believe a year of everyone listening on the radio or jumping on the bandwagon had people believing that IV is an athlete. He is NOT! He's not that good outside of operating in the post. He can't drive to the basket, he can't outleap anyone and he's can't guard anyone out of the post.

-Without the double teams and triple teams from IV this team wouldn't be shooting as well as they have. They don't have a motion offense that generates open looks short of a drive and dish or an occasional pass from the post by IV.

The bottom line is the perimeter defensive players are not up to snuff this year and UB's gameplan, such as how he has players respond to screens, cuts and passes into the post have gotten this team to the 2-4 A10 record that they've earned.

How is he averaging almost a rebound a game plus 1 block per game more than last season, along with 12ppg without hustling.

Name the guys who have guarded him or vice-versa who are 5-6 inches shorter than he is. He is 6'10". So lets hear it, are you talking out your ass or can you give us some facts.

No its an opinion. Answer the question. Why is he averaging more rebounds and blocks with so little effort? According to this board Ian is the luckiest rebounder in D1 basketball.

The difference in his year this year and last is simply his shooting percentage from the field and from the line. If he shooting the same in both categories he is having a better year this year while playing almost 10% less minutes. That is fact.

He plays 10% less minutes. He gets in foul trouble because he is the only inside player we have. He averages just barely over 3 fouls a game.

How does he end up with more rebounds and more blocks while being less aggressive and lazy?
