Coach Tillet usually can make better adjustments, but the UNI coach is really good too.

27-26 UNI at the half, fairly even game. Billikens improved on defense. Game really even, slight edge on TO’s to Billikens, slight edge on rebounds to Panthers, close on shooting percentage too. Time for halftime adjustments to get Kyla McMakin open and get more space for Peyton Kennedy, they are really swarming them when they have the ball.

Once in my office pool, a woman in accounting won the office pool through a combination of picking based on either which mascot was “cuter” or which teams colors were “cooler”. Humiliating defeat for everyone else in the office.

Ashleigh Connor was the same recruiting class as Mia Nicastro, Lisa Stone’s last class. She redshirted last year, which is why she was a freshman this year. Peyton Kennedy has said she’ll be back next year, she will be the last Lisa Stone recruit on the team.

Why Camree Clegg got playing time over Ashleigh Connor I never understood. Camree Clegg shot only 32.9% from the floor, the bulk of which (115 of her 164 shot attempts total) were from 3 pt range, where she shot only 27.8%. Those numbers are flat out bad. On defense, she only got 12 steals, and people shot over her quite a bit. Ashleigh Connor would seem to have more upside on offense (she was 50% from the field, 40% from 3pt range in limited action), and was 9 inches taller when on defense if nothing else. Mia Nicastro was different, but from what I saw was at least as good as Marcavia Shavers and Tierra Simon.

Didn’t see them in yesterday when I looked, but they are there today. Better get busy in the portal to replace that depth, I doubt you’ll find a difference making high school player already not committed this late, but who knows. We need support inside and another PG, Julia Martinez had the most assists this year and she’s gone. Kennedy Calhoun can handle the ball, but has gotten into a lot of foul trouble.

That’s correct. Kind of what happened in the early 80’s. When Title IX passed, the NCAA didn’t want any part of women’s sports, so the AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) was formed to govern women’s sports. Then, in the early 80’s, the NCAA noticed that some money was being made that they didn’t control, so they forced all colleges to put women’s sports under the NCAA. Same thing is happening now, with more interest in women’s sports the NCAA noticed that there might be some money being made here, so they moved to try to muscle the WNIT out of business, that didn’t work, so they just started a competing tournament (WBIT) to drive the WNIT out of business so the NCAA can control the money situation better.

May just have the flu or something. I just looked again, no Billiken women in the portal that I can see.
