  1. I dunno about that. They had a couple close headers that looked like Turner had handled if they would’ve been on net and Turner made 1 save. We’ve had just as many dangerous chances.
  2. I said this on Twitter, but my only real exception is that the only time Nesbitt is mentioned is in the “newcomers” list. West Pine Bills suggested that a lot of the preseason write ups might be done by AI, especially outside the top-25, which would make sense. It’s just shocking to me that everybody is basing their preseason analysis of Nesbitt on 3 games at Memphis under weird circumstances instead of the fact that he was a top-50 recruit in the country 9 months ago. Boggles my mind.
  3. Turner is solid. He’ll be just fine. Honestly, I’d feel pretty confident with any of the 3 of Steffan, Turner or Horvath starting in goal at this point. Good problem to have.
  4. Thanks @BilliesBy40. I know we didn’t have our best guys at the Gold Cup either, but I honestly thought Canada was a more dangerous team than Mexico in that tournament. I’m really interested in that game. I know anything can happen in qualifying, but I’d have Canada as the 3rd team to qualify if I was betting on it right now.
  5. I said cycle, I meant this current window of 3 games. My bad. I didn’t mean the most interesting game qualifying as a whole. Obviously, every USA-Mexico game is on another level. Sorry, I know I wasn’t clear there.
  6. Does anybody know if Canada’s 2 big guys who missed the Gold Cup, Davies and David, are healthy..and if so, are they match fit? I know the Canada game is at home, but if those 2 are fit, it’s easily the most interesting game of this cycle.
  7. Welcome to the club, @Bearcat! Always great to have new posters!
  8. Agreed. I think all 3 of those games are going to be the type (hopefully) where we clear our bench and everybody gets minutes, but the key rotation guys get more familiarity with each other at game speed.
  9. I don’t know how accurate this is, but I’ve heard the argument being made that they wanted an extra game of experience under their belts before heading to Memphis.
  10. I read on Stars and Stripes FC (basically a US Soccer board), that if he appears in 1 of these qualifiers, he won’t be allowed to file the 1-time transfer paperwork for another 3 years. Which means he can’t play for the Mexican National team at least until 2024. So basically, him getting into one of these qualifiers would give us 3 years to cap tie him, which essentially means it would take a huge turn of events for him to switch after he appears in 1 of these games. Kinda reading between the lines, I’m assuming that appearing in WC Qualifiers holds more weight than say a Nations League match. I’m kinda taking their word for it here, but I’ve seen it said more than once and nobody has challenged it, so I’m assuming this is correct.
  11. @BilliesBy40 I know Pepi can’t be cap tied in this qualifying camp, but does his inclusion on this roster mean anything significant 1 way or another towards him making his decision? All the Duel-Nat rules fly way over my head.
  12. He lost his father and was hit by a car in the span of a year. But it’s easier for people to look at numbers and ignore context.
  13. I’ve noticed most people (non-Billikens fans) are viewing him that way. Which is weird. But it’s fine with me. Allows him to fly under the radar.
  14. Sean knows his stuff. He’s very high on UAB. Should be a Quad 2.
  15. I wouldn’t be surprised if our rebounds go down some, but how much, who knows. Losing JGood and Has, there’s going to be some automatic regression there. Another thing is, I (and maybe I’m the only one. Not sure.) expect us to be more efficient offensively this year. The past few years, there were a lot of possessions where we’d get 3, 4, 5 offensive rebounds in one possession. As excellent as JGood and French were, they had a tendency to resort to hero ball and force up bad shots, especially when things weren’t going well. My hope is our offensive efficiency numbers will go up, so all those offensive boards won’t be necessary.
  16. Oh for sure. I take pretty much all preseason stuff with a huge grain of salt. Just interesting to see how people see us right now.
  17. Interestingly, they have Rhode Island over Dayton. Their top 6 in the A10 are: 1-Bona 2-Richmond 3-VCU 4-Bills 5-Rhodey 6-Dayton
  18. I haven’t seen this posted anywhere, so I thought I would. They have us as the #75 in the country. They don’t give us much of a chance against Memphis or @Bona, but every other game they either have us favored, or have it as reasonably winnable. The problem I have with this write-up their minutes break down. There’s a 0% chance that Nesbitt plays less than 30% of the minutes, almost half of Rashad Williams minutes. That’s just not gonna happen. I also don’t see TJ playing less than 15% of the minutes or Gibson playing over 70% of the minutes. https://www.barttorvik.com/team.php?team=Saint+Louis&year=2022
  19. Taj, I see your point. And you’re probably not wrong. But I guess I just don’t see the point of putting ceilings on guys that have been on campus for all of about a week. 21 isn’t 51. Especially, for a kid from Africa who may have gotten a late start developmentally. Let’s see what the kid’s got. Then make our assessments.

  21. I agree with that. It’s more their delusions about recruiting. They rate every recruit based on how many other high major offers they had and who the high major offers were with. It just reeks of insecurity. But maybe it’s just me.
  22. Semi-related: I occasionally go to Tiger Board to catch up on the newest Mizzou basketball delusions. I think I’ve said this before, but how does anybody read that board? It gives me a migraine.
