  1. This was our worst defensive performance of the year, the first time a team has shot over 50% from the field. Maryville went 51.9%. The previous high was SIUC at 45.1%. Of course, with French not in there, we didn't defend the rim all that well.
  2. You think TJ could have guarded Wiley? I doubt it. Hargrove has not demonstrated an outside shot. Jacobs is our second best three point shooter. Does Hargrove deserve more minutes? Certainly. It will have to be situational though. Look for the matchup where he can excel.
  3. Hargrove needs to shoot his FT underhanded.
  4. Coach said Bell is Game Time Decision. Geez. Must be dinged up. “Banged up from the other night” per Rammer.
  5. This is a really good explanation. Thanks Carter.
  6. The State is 'balking' at helping the stadium tax credit structure. https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/soccer-stadium-slowdown-state-balks-on-aid-to-help-kick/article_35363290-aed8-5fda-8934-7b1e0d6500f0.html
  7. I hope you are right. For those of us who experienced a packed Arena with Highmark, Claggett and Waldman, we can only hope that type of energy and atmosphere reappears. But times have changed, and overall college hoops attendance, along with football, is declining. It is still early, but I was expecting a bump in this season's attendance. We obviously have some attractive dates coming up (okay 2), but our tourney appearance plus local talent isn't turning out the folks that I had hoped for. We are averaging 6,299. Maryville and Bethune Cookman likely won't raise that average, so we have the 9 conference games to turn out bigger crowds. Last season we averaged 6,890, so it will be interesting to see if we top that mark. Last season we averaged 6,984 for the nine conference games. Our games with Dayton and VCU should draw large crowds, but the rest are suspect.
  8. Ha, yes. TODAY, Jimmy Bell is a better FT shooter than Collins, 50.0% to 48.1%. Today are best 5, regardless of attempts and playing status: Jimerson 85.7% Perkins and Thatch, both 69.2% Jacobs 68.4% Hankton 60.0%
  9. There is nothing wrong with a 4,500 seat gym, as you suggest. Since Chaifetz was opened, we have averaged about 65% capacity. It looks like we have had only 4 totally sold out games, if the attendance figures represent tickets sold. We have had 14 games over 10,000 in a gym listed at 10,600. Perhaps Chaifetz was built too large?
  10. Duquesne is in the midst of a $45 million renovation of Palumbo Center. It will be top line when finished for the 2020-21 season. They are renaming it after the first black player drafted into the NBA, Chuck Cooper, who played at Duquesne.
  11. HOT NEWS. Maryville's game tonight with Principia was canceled. They will be coming into Chaifetz on fresh legs tomorrow. Odds makers take note!
  12. Ha! We could dramatically improve our team FT% by benching French and Goodwin. Eliminate the prime offenders. Of course, I'd rather have an 80% win percentage with a 53% FT percentage, than a 53% win percentage with an 80% FT rate.
  13. Is that you, glazedandconfused? Did you trade user names with Almaman?
  14. I agree, if French isn't 100%, sit him. So we win by 20 instead of 30. Wiz won't count it either way. Maryville has two Sikeston players, so perhaps Thatch can give them some grief (from the IR bench).
  15. Jimerson's two week streak of A10 Rookie of the Week is over, but why not start a new streak this week. Jordan Goodwin and Jimmy Bell made "Honor Roll" in the Player of the Week article. https://atlantic10.com/news/2019/12/16/mens-basketball-weathers-deas-share-a-10-player-of-the-week-honors-lee-earns-rookie-nod.aspx
  16. Their best NET win looks like a N court win over #85 Indiana State, which would be a Q2 win. It won't stay Q2, guessing is slips to Q3, once the Valley schedule starts.
  17. They lost their big F/C Mamukel..... to a fractured wrist and Powell to a concussion.
  18. I could be wrong, but Hall is at NET 55. Home games are 1-30 Q1, 31-75 Q2, so I put it in Q2. Seton Hall could certainly fall below NET 75 before it is all said and done. With Away games valued differently, Q1 1-75, we actually are a Q1 win for Seton Hall.
  19. There is no discussion on the Fordham Mens BB team. They have been historically bad. While we all consider Rose Hill a HS gym, I believe there are some SLU players and coaches that actually don't mind playing there. Fordham is competitive in several other A10 sports, particularly Women's Softball. With the A10 Men's hoop tourney in NYC, I don't see any way Fordham is kicked out of the league. They could elect to vacate, but I doubt if that happens too soon.
  20. Here is the other side of the issue. Belmont and BC wins have moved to Q3, Auburn loss Q1, and Seton Hall loss Q2. (I don't believe 'good losses' have much weight with the committee. Bad losses do have weight.)
