  1. I don't think the rumor is true of course and from reading SLU talk before, I could see it more to just bug that one poster who hates SLU. However, I could see the reason if he does tell Crews early but wants to keep the focus on the Eagles and he announces after Peach Jam because Crews may have a backup plan if he doesn't get Tatum. Perhaps his Plan A is Tatum commitment and turn that into a commitment from Curry using Tatum once he announces. However if he doesn't get Tatum, then he goes to Plan B which would be he has been keeping an eye on a couple other kids (2-3 star range) that he can then offer. He may not want to offer without knowing if Tatum comes because perhaps if Tatum commits, the other kid or kids would commit quickly and he would be without a scholarship for Curry (perhaps assuming he would offer Barnes if Tatum commits and doesn't want to over sign two kids). Of course he could pull a scholarship offer but Crews seems to not like to do that which is why he doesn't offer very quickly. Once again, I don't think it's true and I think that I am over thinking it but I like the idea of him telling Crews already so I'm going to develop a theory where it makes sense.
  2. Anybody been to Humphrey's recently? Maybe that's where it started. Or does anybody work at a tattoo shop? Perhaps it started from Jim Crews getting a tattoo of Jayson's face on his back like SteveO has of himself.
  3. Looks like from the Billikensblog twitter, they are trying to set up an interview with Barnes so could be some new info coming soon. Is that somebody on here who has been running that? Several good pieces of info from that site very recently. Keep up the work whoever it is.
  4. I agree with this. It would be different if SLU had 5 or 6 offers out there and he wasn't one of them, then I can understand being frustrated. However, if SLU is still recruiting him just as hard as every other school and he gets our 2nd or 3rd offer in the 2017 class, I would think that would have more meaning then being the 7th or 8th offer in Mizzou's 2017 class so far and one out of the 14 Illinois has out there. It's a different approach but I don't think a kid would hold that against a school that they want to watch him develop more and build a relationship before just offering him. There has been some good info coming from that Billikensblog website recently.
  5. Well I think right now we would have 2. Crawford and Agbeko would be graduating. Of course there would be the 3rd from Tatum leaving to go to the draft unless he shocks everybody and decides to stay another year to go back to back national championships. Then any other that would open up.
  6. Mizzou has seemed to just offer a bunch of 2017 kids recently. I know they offered Wyatt Yess recently as well David Sloan and Jordan Goodwin this week. Wonder if Crews will offer a few kids in a short period of time here soon? Can't remember if Crews has done this in the past. We only have one offer for 2017 in Wyatt Yess, right? Very strange how we seem behind on Goodwin.
  7. The joining of Crews on twitter led to an exchange between Ben and Sam Snelling of Rock M Nation on twitter with Sam saying that offering Jordan Barnes would help land Tatum. Other than hearing of RockMNation before, no idea how well this guy knows the St. Louis scene but does anybody else think this might help? Are Tatum and Barnes that close?
  8. His tweet was retweeted by Tanner and Danny Brown and they followed him quickly. Plus he was followed by TT and Ben pretty quickly as well. Not sure how a fake would spread to those guys that quickly but could be wrong.
  9. And he favorited Crew's only tweet of "Be a Billiken".
  10. Yea as Dwaynes_World said we may know that Cook didn't want to stay 30 minutes or so from his home but the average Mizzou fan doesn't really pay attention to basketball recruiting so would assume SLU wouldn't have a chance with local kid if Mizzou is in the mix. They just tend to think they are the far superior program and SLU couldn't get a top local kid over them. Not to mention the fact I would enjoy watching both of the local kids play together here for 4 years.
  11. You could say that about a lot of staffs not knowing in 2 years but I do think Anderson is on a hotter seat than most considering the AD that hired him is no longer there, he hasn't been a D1 head coach before and now has surrounded himself with coaches with no D1 coaching experience. I would be disappointed if they were able to get both Sneed and Cook.
  12. I'm glad at least he cut his list down so now we know for sure instead of just rumor that he didn't want to stay home. What do we know about some of the other guys on the Eagles. If Tatum did come to SLU, would he want a Xavier Sneed or Jordan Barnes with him? I would love to get a Sneed but not sure if he has any favorites. Anybody know?
  13. I didn't have any clue who it would be but surprised by this. Thought Kansas would have been in it, didn't think Florida would with their coach just leaving and thought Illinois would have made it. Not surprised but disappointed SLU didn't make the final 6.
  14. To be honest, the quote on saying he wants to control the flow of the offense was the bigger, newer quote from him from that article. I have seen him say before when asked about being in a Kentucky type system that they win and that's important to him. I think this is the first time I have heard him hint at he wants to basically run the show which as other have said, he can do here. When he has played with Harry Giles and on team USA, does he control the offense? Curious how he plays with the other top kids in his year that he has talked about the package deal with.
  15. I agree with Calbert being the big impact for SLU there. Also, I remember the interview with his trainer Drew Hanlen with Frank and he mentioned how all of the coaches in his top 10 would help him and wouldn't hurt him getting to the NBA. Plus Larry Hughes can point to the fact he didn't play for a coach K and made it to the NBA and had a real good career.
  16. Well if there is one quote I know I have read Jayson say a couple times since his final four is he wants to commit "sooner rather than later". I do think that helps SLU because we would need the help with recruiting. Him and Harry could wait until next spring if they wanted to and decide where to go together if they want to play together to see who else will be on the team. Jayson can't look at Duke or Kentucky's roster next year and know who he would be playing with.
  17. Yea saying he wants to win a National Championship is expected and I don't think has any real impact on his decision. Two out of the last 4 years Duke has been eliminated first game of the tournament so it's not like going there and you are guarantee a final 4 trip. It is good to read how Justin and Larry are clearly pushing for SLU, just have to hope it helps enough. Nothing really new or ground breaking here which I expected but appreciate Stu reaching out to Justin and Jayson for the article. Do people think Crews would be more of the coach asking where he wants to play and giving him the freedom in the offense or trying to tell him where he sees him fitting as?
  18. Per Frank Cusumano, Wyatt Yess has received an offer from Mizzou. Seems SLU has been following him closely. Let's hope it will pay off.
  19. Those seem to be the ones we hear about most often but do find it interesting that reason he isn't big on SLU is he doesn't want to stay local. It's not like there is school not easily drive-able on that list. Wonder if SLU may stay on his short list just because of Tatum? If Tatum decides on SLU, do people think that could help maybe get him to stay? He does seem to go to a lot of games the past couple years.
  20. Plus according to that link posted in the Tatum screw up thread to the NCAA website, right now is a quiet period until July 5th which allows on campus contact, just no off campus contact. The text/calls I think are still fine to.
  21. If you are going to use the term mid-major, I would think most would refer to conferences other than the power 5 so ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and SEC or the football conferences. I would not include the Big East with those schools.
  22. I do agree that with an offer from Illinois, I wish we would have already offered. It is strange though that from looking at his page, Illinois seems to be the only team that has offered. Would think there would be other smaller schools around that would have offered him. The big thing to me though isn't the offer as much as it is I hope Crews or one of the coaches has been out to see him a couple times and has had communication with him. Not just giving him an offer immediately can be something they can recover from as long as they are building a relationship.
  23. Crews has gone after a lot of taller players but Goodwin's height seems to be right in line with Crawford, Roby, Reynolds, and Bartley. I don't think he is passing up on talent for height as some of those guys were rated decent. Have the coaches been out there to watch them and talk to the kids? I would be okay if they have been out there watching and keeping a discussion up with them but just haven't pulled the triggered and offered compared to if they aren't even recruiting them.
  24. He did take over in 11-12 after Halak got injured first round against the Sharks so played in 8 games and was in net during sweep against the Kings. Also started the playoffs in 12-13 when the Blues lost in 6 to the Kings. It was last year when Miller replaced him and this year with Allen.
