  1. I am curious about this offer mainly because of the above. Based on what I've seen from Crews, it's not like he seems to be offering a ton of kids that are being recruited by big programs. Usually if he does, it's a local kid and he has the kid come to campus and offers him there. I always thought the main reason for that was that if he can't even get the kid to come to campus for a visit, obviously the kid isn't interested in SLU for him to waste time. Curious to see if they get him to even visit.
  2. Tyler Cook down to Iowa and Florida. Sounds like Iowa is the leader from what I was reading but either way it looks like Mizzou won't get either Sneed or Cook with the hire of Tate. I kind of thought at least one after they hired him.
  3. In my mind, Goodwin is more of a conversation of how Crews approaches offering local kids compared to a problem of waiting around or suffering from analysis/evaluation issues. Illinois and Mizzou offered him at the end of April to early May this summer. To my knowledge, he made the visit to Illinois after but hasn't been to Mizzou yet. Crews likes to get kids that are local to come to campus for an unofficial visit and offer them in person. It also appears he likes to do this after the summer recruiting period is over as I can't think of a local kid he offered before the summer evaluation period began. Goodwin did say SLU was one of the schools recruiting him hardest in May so it's not like Crews just started paying attention to him recently. I don't remember with Yess and Watson but know that Ramey and Gordon were both on campus recently when Crews offered. Could be something Crews uses because if he can't even get a kid to drive 30 minutes for an unofficial visit to offer, chances are he doesn't stand much of a chance with him anyways so he won't waste time he could spend watching somebody else. So how this hurts or affects recruitment of somebody like Goodwin, I think we will find out. Maybe Crews has a good way of explaining why he waited until now compared to offering in April. Hopefully Roy may hear something or we will find out more when he commits because from what rumor is, he genuinely interested in coming to SLU. Cook I think it was more of he didn't want to come to SLU so no matter when they offered, it wasn't going to help.
  4. Candid is a much better word that I was looking for. Like I said though, mainly thought that from his scout article where he said Illinois was number 1 in his recruitment because of how he likes the coaches. I could be completely off on that read.
  5. Do we not have anybody who talk to recruits? Goodwin has seemed to be a pretty outspoken kid it seems so far so would like to hear his thoughts on the visit and finally getting the offer. Just basing this on after his Illinois visit saying they were the favorite and telling Billikensblog earlier that he was kind of disappointed by not having SLU offer at the time but he would wait.
  6. Lenell Henry from Morgan Park took an unoffical visit to SLU today according to Scott Burgess.
  7. Not a big difference but I believe Goodwin is visiting today so it will be an offer to Pickett and Goodwin in 24 hours. I think Gordon goes to getting him on campus for an unofficial visit. I mentioned this earlier but looking at who Crews is following on Twitter and the only recruits are Gordon and Watson. I would bet Ramey would also be followed by Crews if he had a twitter so you can tell who his main targets are for 2018.

  9. Wonder if that was who Hughes was sitting with. He does have an offer from Illini.
  10. Brian Haenchen tweeted a picture of them Hughes with the recruit. Can't tell who it is either and not sure how to post the entire tweet on here or I would.
  11. That is how Crews generally gives offers to most kids. Will have them on campus for unofficial visits and offer. When do they leave for Bahamas though? Crews has to be here to offer.
  12. I think both K-State and Mizzou have offered Ramey, Watson and Gordon already.
  13. That is what confuses me because a couple months ago in an interview Goodwin said SLU was recruiting him the hardest with Indiana and Creighton. I thought for sure at the time that the offer would've came during the July recruiting period but nothing. Now it seems they may not be interested but even with the approach of recruits Crews is taking, I think Goodwin would be useful just based on how everybody seems to say he can play anywhere on the floor.
  14. Yea nothing great. Frank asked him about the trip to the Bahamas and how it's been going. Frank did try and ask about how it feels when trying everything to get a recruit and how deflating it feels when he goes somewhere else. Crews said basically SLU's philosophy is "we are who we are and we believe what we believe". That they just want to be involved and help the kids along in the process but it is the kid's future so they just want to do what's best for the kid. At the end when it's over, they just have to move on though. Frank did say at the end when Crews hung up that the staff did do everything they could have to try and get Tatum.
  15. Yea it was Haenchen. He recorded Frank's questions and his. Here is a link for anybody who wants to watch. http://www.insidestl.com/insideSTLcom/STLSports/SLUBillikens/tabid/328/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/18488/Video-Pre-Practice-Interview-with-SLU-Coach-Jim-Crews.aspx
  16. Goodwin has received an offer from Creighton.
  17. There wasn't much info on Sneed or Cook so not extremely surprised being eliminated from his list but disappointed. Shocked Mizzou didn't make it as they just hired Tate and all indications were they were up there as likely to get him. Glad though since maybe they aren't going to get as many of the Eagles as I thought. Would still like to see an offer for Goodwin soon though...
  18. He had a series of tweet yesterday and said he will keep writing but his articles will just be on 101espn website.
  19. This is an evaluation period time frame according to the NCAA so by their definition: During an evaluation period a college coach may watch college-bound student-athletes compete, visit their high schools, and write or telephone student-athletes or their parents. However, a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents off the college’s campus during an evaluation period. So it doesn't seem like he could talk to them off campus but can call or text them.
  20. Can take Gooch off the interest list. Scott Burgess ‏@scottybscout 21m21 minutes ago Belleville Althoff 2016 SF Brendon Gooch @Bgooch22 has committed to #SIU #Salukis
  21. Was searching Twitter to see if I could find out who Crews is watching today and decided to look at his twitter account. He is now following 57 people and Jayson Tatum is not one of them. Most are current/former SLU players or basketball accounts. Only two recruits it looks like he is following are Torrence Watson and Gordon. Nothing great there but hasn't been much new here anyways.
  22. New article by Stu. Didn't want to start a new thread as most of what is in the article was mentioned in this thread. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/slu/slu-basketball-team-gets-busy-early/article_7c867c2c-bdb0-57f4-b631-104927e5c64c.html Crews will be in Vegas this weekend. I believe Curry will be in Vegas but not sure what other of our interests he will be there to watch.
  23. Just listened to the Conklin interview. Pretty good. Mentioned he just got in town right before the game in Chicago and since it's the offseason, he wasn't in basketball shape like he will be in a couple months. Talked about keeping St. Louis kids here and mentioned Tatum with that. He did say he is a having a boy and he will be a future Billiken so Pistol can start the Recruiting 2033 list.
  24. Bartley and Gillmann are both up about 20 pounds according to Crews though so that's good.
  25. Just downloaded the podcasts but haven't listened yet. The one with Conklin is segment 2 according to Haenchen. http://www.insidestl.com/insideSTLcom/RadioShows/TheNightcap/tabid/366/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/18390/Tuesdays-Show-Audio.aspx
