Brian, I agree totally. My opening statement was a blanket one. This year's class is pretty light right now. As the Anti-Roy of the boards, I'd love to see some one and done action here...as in one year and the NBA, not the other kind that we've run into.

I was playing off the "Majerus is lazy" people because SLU doesn't score 5* guys. I think most fans are excited where this team could go. The Bills did very well with last year's class. This year, with added baggage, the recruiting wasn't as good.

Criticize as you will for the recruiting of the last couple years but keep some of this in mind. 1--SLU may be the easiest school in the country to negatively recruit against. Hughes is the last player to reach the NBA, limited postseason, and last season are all easy marks. The fact that last year's class was as good as it was is very impressive. This year, adding the Situation to the ways to attack SLU, the results weren't as good. 2--The profile of the player that SLU is recruiting now is much higher than it used to be. That leads to situations where the Bills lose out to brighter lights, like Chievous at TN. We lose out to a team that is looking down the barrel of probation. As much as I hate losing to anybody, I'd rather lose a guy to a BCS school than lose a guy to SIU-E. I will defend Majerus, as he is the biggest positive we have in terms of recruiting to balance out some of the negatives. I think that this year is the time for him to prove the supporters right.

Nice to see somebody remembers me. Roy and I have gone back and forth about what I have said. The truth is, this school needs to get behind Rick instead of creating obstacles for him so winning is possible.

Above Avg: NCAA Tournament entry or High Seed in NIT OK : NIT, rest of the Bubble Med : Fringe NIT/CBI Below Average: Fringe CBI/CIT Awful: Sub .500, no postseason Deplorable: Awful with no legitimate hope of getting better. I would like to think the expectations for last season going in were in the Above Average to Good category...turned out that wasn't the case. I think there are a lot of teams between Mediocre and Above Average. Why on earth would you care what I think of last season? I was as consistent with my beliefs as you are with yours. Last season was a trying time for all of us. So I over-reacted about Tennessee getting a recruit from us? Maybe if we get Winters, we'll forget about Chievous. Most people are tired of the best local talent not showing up here...I know for a fact you want more of the local guys. In 2011-12, I hold out hope to be in the first 3 categories. I know where that got us last year, but it's better than the alternative.

Last year was, well, not good. Next season will be much better. As long as the Bills do things right, I think that's where your Obama quote is headed.

A lot of other schools being worse does not change SLU's fate or record last year. 11-19 isn't good no matter how you slice it. So I stand by my original assertion that the record was awful last year. It will get better, but that doesn't change the past.

Let me run it down for you. No tournament, out in first round of conference tournament, 11 D-I wins out of 30 games. Does that sound good to you? And to be fair and answer your question...even worse.

This was an awful team with him last year. That's saying a lot.
