This. If you're the only school allowed to talk to a recruit and you don't take advantage of that at least briefly to try to convince them to stay, you're a moron. If they still say no, then grant the release.

They have no obligation to. They both signed Letters of Intent with the University, not the coach. They knew there was a good chance Groce would be fired. I'm sure they will release them, but you can forgive the school for not being in a massive hurry.

Haha, it's just a gut feeling. I don't want to falsely elevate any hopes. But we can dream. If I was an STL area guy, and I saw Mizzou bringing in these five stars from all over the country all of a sudden (Porters and Knox), that would irk me a bit. I think SLU has the potential to build something special with primarily local players. Think of the rivalry that could develop- Mizzou essentially bringing in "paid" mercenaries from all over vs SLU with a team of highly regarded local guys. Imagine a second round NCAA tourney matchup in KC....

I'm not gonna claim to have any inside sources here. Just a hunch. But I think Ford is working some magic behind the scenes. It's been too quiet (yes I know, recruiting dead period), and I don't think Ford likes playing second fiddle to SPUMAC in terms of recruiting. I'm thinking it's Tilmon. I think Pickett is a part of that. Before the Pickett news, I'd say Tilmon to MIZ was almost a lock. It still might be. I've just got a gut feeling here that Ford is gonna be putting in some work here shortly.

Give me a break. You're speculating based on twitter, if anything. I think we have a good shot at Pickett, but you don't have any "sources" telling you he's leaning SLU. But if he commits you'll give the classic "I told you so." I'm not buying it.

In one word: yes. Although SC STL also claims that their internal polls actually showed the county to be less favorable than the city. Still, I often question the legitimacy of these polls... there are massive soccer communities in the county where word would spread much much faster. A hypothetical-- the coach on little Bobby's U-12 select team has a parent meeting about it and why it's good for the area and that's probably good for at least ten more yes votes. I don't have the data, but I'd bet a lot of money that there's a lot more soccer being played in the county than in the city. And I'd bet money that it would pass in the county. But you can't bet on hypothetical situations

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we are in heavily on Allen. You can never have too many shooters, and we've got two schollies available. He'd be a good pickup at this point. I know some would rather have a big man, but I'm a firm believer in upgrading talent across the board right now. Allen will probably be heavily in demand at this point, though.

Probably just is friends with some kids from his U-17 residency days. He tweets fairly regularly with Logan Panchot, from STL.
