  1. Ford’s recruiting post-NIL is very comparable to Sodie. He was a far superior recruiter pre-NIL, which makes you wonder what he was doing to stand out that he can’t do now.
  2. I wasn’t saying that’s what he should do… just what staff might pressure him to do. Plus these kids want to play, they don’t want to sit on the bench all year. But yeah, it is probably a pointless discussion because I don’t see him being cleared for this year.
  3. Obviously they can. I’m asking if people think they would. Would be a bad look to drag out/deny entry to passionate fans who are protesting for change for betterment of the program.
  4. That’s insane. You could change a couple names and you’d think that was an article from this season. Every criticism of Ford that we currently have is present in that article, down to the team having one (serviceable) big man.
  5. I’m not letting myself get emotionally attached to any one player on this roster, because entire roster turnover might be the cost of replacing Ford (worth it IMO). But I do think Curcic, Medley, Thames, Zhang, and even SVB could develop nicely under a coach who does that sort of thing (you know, player development). With that said, a new coach could bring in an entirely new roster that is miles better than our current one in one offseason. We’ve already seen it from multiple opposing teams this season. THROW THE DAMN TOWEL.
  6. This is strictly hypothetical, because I haven’t held a sign since my student section days, but would a simple black and white sign saying “Ford Out” be allowed into the arena? Or would it be confiscated/security involved to prevent it? I feel like it wouldn’t be allowed to fly. I’ve only ever seen that one shirt that a guy had made that said Fire Ford on one side and Fire May for not Firing Ford on the other… and what were they gonna make him do, strip down? Also if you’re on here do you sell those shirts?
  7. We will count it as 0.5 wins in the pursuit of 20.
  8. I don’t care if you’ve got Helen Keller playing major minutes at the 5, you don’t blow 18 point second half leads. The Angry Elf has solidified our position as a laughing stock.
  9. Unacceptable to not play Curcic and Thames more in second half.
  10. Good effort from some of the players. Leave the entire coaching staff in f***** Iowa
  11. Only Travis could’ve taken an 18 point second half lead and said, how can I screw this up, and executed it perfectly
  12. Dalger in La La land out there defensively
  13. It’s like any time someone does something good, Travis pulls them…. Thames baseline dunk, yanked. Curcic playing tough, yanked.
  14. Bruh. For every one decent play there’s four hilariously bad ones.
  15. Gibson dragged to the floor while attempting a layup and somehow it’s their ball. Officials comical too.
  16. Dalger is just comically bad. I get that we have NO ONE else. But it’s really funny watching him do some of the stuff he does.
  17. We all knew the collapse was inevitable, but the speed at which it transpired was truly impressive.
  18. I just tuned in and first thing I heard them say was than Van Bussel was a junior and Zhang was from Japan… you must be easily impressed!
  19. few of us been begging for him to get more minutes all year. Ford was finally left no choice
  20. Pretty sad that that’s our best case scenario, basically.
  21. Probably would be under a lot of pressure from coaching staff to play, as only chance of them keeping their jobs is a miracle run in Brooklyn.
  22. Probably the most down I’ve ever been on our program, been following since early 2000s…. At least in Crews’ final years, we had recent success to look back on, and knew that it was coming to an end sooner than later. Only thing close is the Soderberg years, and I’d 100% take Uncle Brad over Ford right now.
  23. Another game that will be non-competitive by the 10:00 mark of the first half. Yippee!
  24. good post A Bomb, thanks for putting the effort into it. The issue is that too many are still content with mediocrity. It will have to get much, much worse for that group (we all know who we’re talking about here) to ever call for May or Ford’s job. Mediocrity = smaller crowds= shorter bathroom/food lines, shorter waits for golf cart ride to/from garage, fewer drunk young people yelling obscenities, cheaper tickets, more elbow space/open seats, etc. There is a large section of Billiken fandom for whom Billiken games are mainly a social event/ easy way to get out of the house on a weeknight… sold out crowds/attention on the program only threaten all that. We see this group only dig their heels deeper when confronted with the program’s current direction under May and Ford. I am obviously being somewhat exaggerative here, but it is based on truth, although none would admit it. Far too many are happy with the way things are. I fear it will take multiple seasons of Crews-level mediocrity before we see any real change at a coaching or AD level.
