  1. Yeah, I think he's more on the Bears radar than he is SLU's radar due to academics. I also don't know the needs/scholarship availabilities of SLU for that class, which always plays a role. the Bears will have up to 7 scholarships for that class, and will be in the market for wing players such as McLemore. That sort of stuff plays a large role in recruiting, and with SLU's academic standards being higher than Missouri State's, I side with Nate on this one.
  2. Selfishly, I hope he plays, and I hope he's good, and I hope you leads you to a lot of victories this year.
  3. Agreed. The wife has been good enough to agree to the 9:45 service for us, so that I don't have to miss any games...she really is pretty awesome about my sports obsession, especially for someone who doesn't understand why I like sports at all.
  4. You're right, but he did play 4-3 DT the year before and fared worse than he has this year. Much of that can attributed to the natural development a defensive lineman usually takes to the NFL, but if you're that high of a pick, you want the guy to be able to come in and make positive contributions right away IMHO.
  5. Ha! I didn't realize they had another player named Freeman...
  6. Saw this post after mine...so it appears the admin is against raising student fees.
  7. Missouri State students pay an "athletics fee." It's mandatory, and allows the students to get into all sports for free, save for baseball, which is $3. Might be a way to go, just add a student fee to all students. I believe it is $30, but I finished up my Graduate studies in July, so it may be different since this semester is the start of a new fiscal year.
  8. Yeah, I broke down and moved to DirecTv so I could watch the Phins on the NFL package. I was proud of how they came back from 18 points down on the road to send it to OT. I thought for sure we were going to win once we won the toss, but it was not to be. I think most Phin fans have been eyeing next year as the year we take the next step in contention. I think there is still a chance if we win out, and Denver loses, creating that however many way tie... Rams need to decide if they think Clausen is a franchise QB or not. If they think he is, they really need to take him. If they don't they should take Suh. The problem is, Suh isn't a sure thing to me, because he seems to dominate on strength alone. What happens when NFL linemen are as strong, or nearly as strong? I know he uses his hands very well, but so did Glenn Dorsey. While I think Suh will be better than Dorsey, DT is such a hard position to project to the NFL (as if QB isn't as well). It really has to be tough to be a Rams fan right now.
  9. A fellow Phin fan! I agree with your thoughts, it's something the team has to learn to do, and feel as though they have the confidence it will happen. However, they did go 1-15 and still turn it around the next year. If the Rams decide to go the route of Suh, and not a QB, they'll need the #1 to get him.
  10. Just listened to the end of the game (Christmas party thanks to the wifey), so I have no visual evidence either way, but if that is the case, SLU might be in a little more trouble than I thought without Mitchell. If the guards can't get past Fury, there is a problem there. Fury is a very hard worker, and is a player coaches always love for that, but he is very limited athletically, and the next time he stops a dribble drive will be the first (that I've seen). Most of us would agree his biggest deficiency is his inability to stop dribble penetration...perhaps with coaching Fury is starting to learn to use tendencies, or keys, or anticipation to force the ballhandler where he wants him to go? Remember, Fury missed most of the early part of the season, so though I've been to every home game but one (three day tourney, wife nixed the final game), we have limited film of him thus far. Perhaps he's made improvements like most every other player has for us this year.
  11. Gotcha. Upset with the Admin for allowing it to happen in the first place, and then misplaced anger at a somewhat rivals fans sitting in your student section (I understand Dayton, and X are your main rivals). I can't say I wouldn't feel the same way if the situation were reversed.
  12. Oh, if only this were true my friend...to get an at-large from a non-BCS league anymore, it seems you have to be way up there in RPI, and have a "signature" win on your resume. Luckily, for the A-10, several teams look like they could do that this year...
  13. It might come off poorly, but forgive me when I ask, weren't the MSU students allowed to be in the student section from a promotion? I wasn't there, this is just the way it's being portrayed from the MSU students. If that is the case, why would you be upset with the ushers for not moving them from where they are allowed to be? And, why would you want to punch them, or fight with them? Again, that is with the premise that they were allowed to be there from a promotion.
  14. If it means anything, we've told Lunatic to knock it off on the Bears board or be banned, but we don't have a member by that name and no one is claiming to be him. He is trolling to get a reaction...
  15. Any time a team shoots poorly, I think you have to give credit to the defense, at least partially. There some bonehead plays by us, and some pts left out there. Believe me, the defense wil always be there under Coach Martin, but on offense we missed shots we haven't been this year. I cite the #10 ranking in 3 pt percentage only to show how we normally shoot it. Most Bear fans agree this might be the worst we've played this year, but I'm admittedly seeing it through Bear goggles, and I'm sure SLU fans see mistakes from their club I'm not seeing.
  16. Why would your admin allow any fan with a student ID to sit in your student section? That's a head scratcher...what did they expect to happen? MSU has 40% of their students from St. Louis, and they're on break, and the basketball team is unbeaten...of course they're going to come out. I'm surprised to hear/read SLU has such a poor student section, but when MSU was struggling too much last year, I would walk up and get front row seats in the student section. Keep winning games and they'll come out in better numbers.
  17. Good point on the depth, I'll withdraw that part. I think the part about Mitchell can be debated, mainly due to the fact Jordan played so well, and his minutes were way up due to the Mitchell injury (to the best of my knowledge anyway, from looking at your game logs). I honestly picked SLU in my game prediction thread prior to the Mitchell injury, so I don't think it's far fetched to think it's a win with Mitchell at all. That said, MSU played very poorly (for how they had been playing this year anyway), and still won by 10. That is a fairly large swing to overcome from one player...he's good, I've watched SLU play twice, and he is quick, makes good decisions, and is pretty crafty. He made a nice pass against Georgia where he passed it to the middle while jumping out under the basket instead of to the wing like most players do, to a wide open Salecich (sp?) and I thought to myself, that kid can play. Missouri State fans are just a little excited right now. We're normally used to winning quite a bit, but last year dampened that feeling, and we were picked to be poor again this year and are surprising. That tends to bring out "emotional" posts, that I am also a victim of from time to time. Most Bear fans are good guys, but like a lot of times, a few bad apples can spoil the lot.
  18. It's actually a little comical that you can post that you like getting under their/our skin, and people still continue to fall for it hook, line, and sinker. I'll say this: Both programs are doing Missouri proud with their basketball teams, and you guys are going to be a load for teams this year, and especially next year with some experience. I'm half looking forward to our series the next three years, half dreading it because I know your team will bring it in each game. Willie Reed is legit...wait until the boy puts some weight on, and you could literally have a potential All-American.
  19. I watched a different game...SLU led 2-0 and 12-11 (off memory) and that's it. You have a good team, and gave a good effort. Nothing to be ashamed of tonight from either team.
  20. Nice team the Bills have...will be some nice games over the next several years. SLU got what they wanted in the first half, a physical game filled with fouls etc. Willie Reed was as good as he looked on television the few times I've seen him. Bears do what they should do to a team that is a little short handed, and we'll take it. MO State came in 10th in the country in 3 point shooting, and SLU held them to a terrible percentage. Props for that...MO State made their free throws, and won by double digits. Hope the rest of your season goes well. MSU! MSU! MSU!
  21. I try to act a certain way on an opposing team's board. It's your board after all. Perhaps I'm failing in my quest...
  22. I'm noticing I'm not very welcomed here...of course they're thinking they're going to win, but that's still not the point of a line. The point is to have 50/50 betting if possible, that's why lines move. I don't gamble my friend...
  23. Sure. They have to have a starting place, but the line is not designed to pick winners, and based on your post, I think you know that. In reality, when it comes to regional colege basketball like this game, Vegas isn't that great. Heck, they aren't even that good at the Super Bowl, let alone games like this. You can make a lot of money in non-BCS college basketball.
