  1. I saw that Mychael Henry verbally committed to the Illini this past week. He is a 6-6 SG, SF out of Chicago from the class of 2011 that the Billikens had offered. Henry's commitment gives the Illini 3 verbals from the class of 2011 already.
  2. Are we completely opposed to going on the road to play a high level BCS opponent? It does not seem like we are at a level yet where top tier BCS programs are willing to schedule a home and home with us.
  3. I guess it depends on who you ask. Suggs is playing for a BCS program that won their conference tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. He is also getting an education at an extremely quality university.
  4. To bring this full circle, Kim English went to Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass.
  5. Having been in a hearing at the University I can tell you it is not a criminal trial where physical evidence is poured through or where lawyers are necessary. It boils down to every individual involved and whatever witnesses each party wants to speak on their behalf sitting in front of the judicial panel or whatever you want to call it and telling what they know or their side of the story and then answering any questions the panel has. So the panel hears everyone's story and asks all the questions they have in order to get a feel for what they believe happened and then with that they decide whether or not any actions violated University conduct. It is the ultimate he said she said. The judicial board will not be looking to punish these kids for underage drinking or the more minor potential violations.
  6. Exactly. If they have a trial they will be sitting in front of a group that will include a mix of students, alumni, professors, and University personnel who will be determining what if any punishment is warranted.
  7. Yeah, I guess it all depends on the University's ruling, but unless they have some kind of punishment I don't see why there would be any punishment from Majerus as far as suspensions since there were no charges.
  8. The University's policy concerning consent when I was a student a handful of years ago and the inability of a female to give consent if she is intoxicated is what concerns me based on knowing an individual expelled from the University because of it and what has been said about the incident namely the time of the incident and Lacledes being mentioned. This would make me believe alcohol was involved. Obviously it will be a he said she said, but the only thing that will really matter in the end is whether or not there was consent. We will see what happens, but I certainly am not dismissing this just yet. From the start I did not think anything would come of the criminal charges (see Big Ben or the University of Arkansas basketball players), but was extremely concerned about how the University's judicial system would handle it.
  9. I have to believe these players will be sitting in front of the University's judicial board in the near future. Just because no criminal charges were brought does not mean this issue is dead. A female student still believes she was raped and I would think the case will go through the University's judicial system. At least the case is dead for now from the criminal side and will be out of the public.
  10. It will be interesting to see how the University handles this situation.
  11. No charges -- for now -- in SLU sexual assault case Kevin Killeen Reporting [email protected] ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce issues a statement saying there is "insufficient evidence" to file charges at this time at this time. St. Louis Police and Joyce's office have been looking into allegations that members of the Billikens basketball team sexually assaulted a 20 year old female student inside the Grand Forest apartments between 3 and 4 a.m. Saturday. Three members of the men's basketball team were questioned in connection with the allegation, according to Clayton defense attorney John Rogers. The circuit attorney says her office will continue to seek additional information , and if circumstances change, she will re-evaluate the case. Copyright KMOX Radio
  12. This certainly does not mean nothing happened, it just means the evidence is not there to bring criminal charges against these guys which I think a lot of people on here thought would be the case. It will be interesting to see how the University deals with these guys now. I am definitely relieved by this news, but would assume this is not the end of it.
  13. I see Tod Kowalczyk is the new coach at Toledo and he brought Angres Thorpe with him from UWGB. Jake Barnett looks like he would be a nice addition to the team.
  14. I know, right?!?!?! Regards, Travis Henry
  15. Well I am sure Mizzou fans will have a field day with this and it looks like it is beginning.
  16. When I was at SLU that was the policy on campus and I knew someone expelled from the University because of it. Does anyone know if that is still the case? I am sure there are posters on this board that are current students that are aware of the University's rules concerning rape. That is why I do not see this ending even if the SLMPD decides not to file charges. These individuals may not face criminal charges, but I have to imagine they will go through a University hearing.
  17. How could they attack SLU if they kick these kids out for violating University conduct? I think it is fairly reasonable to think that even if these guys do not have charges filed against them that their time at SLU may be coming to an end in the near future.
  18. When will these players sit in front of the University's judicial board? The University has its own conduct policies that do not hindge on this investigation.
  19. The banquet was tonight? I bet that was a little awkward.
  20. I have not heard anything concerning the incident, I was just posting that when I was a student a handful of years ago the University policy was that a girl was not able to give consent if she was intoxicated. The fact that this girl called the police (?) shows that she believes she was sexually assualted. Regardless of the SLMPD's investigation, I have to believe these players will be sitting in front of the judicial board with expulsion being on the table.
  21. I don't see how it could be, but I am certainly not a lawyer and I guess that is why nobody will actually come out and say who the players are rumored to be.
