  6. This is way off topic. and resented. Its not a livery stable for almost 90 years - get serious. The University has done more being here and being a neighbor with insight to create a campus in what was a very blighted area. I was there 40 yrs ago. Your properties would never have the values were it not for the efforts of SLU. The University is a great neighbor and your efforts would be better used to helping it achieve its goals. Any property buyer/owner has the right to utilize its lands as it see's fit. Not how moneyed developers with favorable tax incentives choose as they line there pockets. A improved University campus improves the area. Now please take your trash discussion elsewhere!
  7. http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=683592 New St. Louis coach Rick Majerus is off to a hot start. He recently landed Kansas big man Steve Moore, an intriguing post player that local pundits believed could have ended up at a Big 12 school after a strong July. The 6-foot-9 big man will line up with Rivals150 center Brett Thompson. LOL

A source close to Virginia Commonwealth said Foley is expected imminently to interview VCU coach Anthony Grant, an assistant to outgoing coach Billy Donovan at UF for 10 seasons. Should he go? Grant, a 41-year-old Miami native, was Donovan's top assistant on the 2006 national championship team and coached VCU to an upset against Duke in the first round of this season's NCAA Tournament. The source said Foley received permission from VCU to interview Grant, and the Rams are already preparing a list of candidates to replace him. Higher-profile coaches John Calipari of Memphis and Texas' Rick Barnes also are expected to top Florida's wish list, leaving Foley to decide between an up-and-coming coach or veterans with better name recognition. "Coach Grant has the familiarity with the university and the infrastructure and recruiting bases. He would be the most natural fit," former UCLA coach and current analyst Steve Lavin said. "He could come in and hit the ground running without having to come up to speed and become familiar with the culture of the Florida administration." If Grant gets the job, it would be reminiscent of Foley's decision to hire a young Donovan 11 years ago. However, there's a belief that Florida - now one of the top-tier teams in college basketball - will search for a more established coach this time. "I think it would have to be somebody who can really step in and that's had a lot of success. Florida can attract that," ESPN analyst Dick Vitale said. "Jeremy Foley can put a big time (financial) package together." Donovan's $1.7 million annual deal was being renegotiated into a larger amount and an extension. UF President Bernie Machen said Thursday the deal was done, but Donovan had not signed the contract. St. Louis coach Rick Majerus said Calipari and Barnes are the top candidates and that both would leave their respective schools to coach the Gators. "Money will entice him," Majerus said of Calipari. "It's a great location, and he's got a proven record as a recruiter and it's a style of play suited for him. He plays a very fast fan-friendly style and that attracts athletes." Majerus said that while Barnes turned down an offer to coach Kentucky, he thinks Florida is a better situation. "Kentucky is in that fishbowl, you're all alone," Majerus said. "I could see Barnes leaving Texas for Florida." As for other potential candidates, Majerus questioned Georgia Tech's Paul Hewitt's career record, said Gonzaga's Mark Few "knows he would be out of his element," and that Marquette's Tom Crean is too established in Milwaukee and unfamiliar with the South. Crean, in Orlando for the NBA's pre-draft camp, said he's "happy at Marquette." While Majerus said it would be too much of a "speculative" hire at this point in Grant's career, scout.com's Dave Telep called Grant "the best young coach in basketball." "While his name isn't as big, people that understand and recognize coaching talent know that he's an up-and-coming star in this business and Florida would have a unique opportunity," Telep said. "He has charisma and presence in a room. It's a layup. The fan base will deal with a bright young star instead of the biggest name." Aside from Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina's Roy Williams and a few of the nation's other top coaches, Lavin said he believes Foley will be able to pick and choose Florida's next coach. "I think Florida's on a level now with other elite programs," Lavin said. "They'll continue to reload, bring in top-rated recruiting class and it's going to be a very attractive job to coaches throughout the country." Staff Writer Chris Perkins contributed to this report.
