  1. tommie does have issues with his ball handling... but, i believe his ability to penetrate and create open shots for his teammates (i.e. lisch) far outweighs his turnovers.
  2. better late than never... and, during those past years biondi was busy: closing westpine street so we didnt have cars driving through our campus, building the business school, building the bsc, building parks college, building laclede and olive parking lots, the village apartments, gries, the arena, the new research building, etc... i think it simply comes down to the fact that fr. biondi's hands have been tied down for quite a while now... and, now he finally has the flexibility to be a liberal spender for our athletics.
  3. i agree with you, but i am not sure about the increase of assists... kevin is a good passer, but tommie seems to be the best fit for us to play the 'pippen' pg role... will polk get any playing time next year?? i sure hope so.. in all honesty, you couldnt meet a nicer/more wholesome guy than polk. and, i love his defensive tenacity.
  4. yeah man... that is why i couldnt stand brad's offensive system... just pass the ball around the 3-pt arch and run out the clock.... all in part because it totally limited the shot attempts of liddell and lisch. i think that and brad's refusal to make in game adjustments serve as the pillars of his coaching downfall. regardless, liddell is a stud, and i was very pleased to see that his work with brad last summer really paid off in his 3 point shooting. in reality, it is brad's work with liddell last summer to refine his shot which might prove liddell nba worthy in the next couple of years. the first time i ever saw tommie play, i said: "this guy totally reminds me of tmac"... and i watch tmac alot (i used to live in houston)... just as tmac, his passing ability is grossly underrated.
  5. yup yup... look for kevin to average 20+ points per game next year in maj's system. damn, it feels good to be a billiken fan..
  6. you serious???? i thought he was a great defensive strategist... and i was incredibly critical of him...
  7. "it is hard work being a Billiken fan" true that... true that
  8. all i have to say is.... I TOLD YOU SO...... Biondi is too smart to fire soderberg without a splashy replacement in the wake... its all about business baby, and my man fr. b knows what the deal is.. i think some of you owe him an apology. Sincerely, Mr. KnowitALL p.s. how does it feel to have a coach who likes to recruit? Just wait until you see his game plan/ADJUSTMENTS... ya'll are going to cream your pants....
  9. i heard lebron james' new born son has officially committed to SLU... were in it, TO WIN IT... hahaha, go SLU... i will no longer hear this: "Where did you go to college?? me: SLU. What? me: Saint Louis University Where's that???" waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhooooooooooooooooo
  10. he is probably going to be an assistant coach somewhere... good defensive x's and o's guy, but horrible recruiter,.. but, hopefully everything works out for him because i know once the new season gets started everyone will be saying: brad who???? IM RICK MAJERUS, BIOOTCH!!!!!!
  11. what i was saying a few months ago about soderberg and how he has the demeanor of a football coach... not good for college bball recruiting
  12. http://espn-mp3-od.andomedia.com/espnpod2/..._05012007_5.mp3 this is a podcast or whatever its called, and its a segment from mike & mike in the morning. vitale is a guest, and they talk about the majerus hiring (its towards the end)... dicky v seems to be really pumped about it.. sorry if it has been already posted. SLU will finally get national recognition... huge thanks to fr. biondi for his commitment to his original 'commitment to making saint louis the finest catholic university'. we hit it big.
  13. hi everyone, i have not posted since the hiring of coach majerus, but i have been reading everything and keeping up with the program.... i am sooooo pumped, geez... this is so awesome.. but, here is why i am posting. cbssportsline.com has an article up (which is a good read) asking SLU to move to the MVC... here is the link: http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/10159065 I am not sure if anyone posted it yet, but many people around the country are commenting on the article while taking cheap, cowardly shots at majerus. I think it is so inappropriate and rude, because they are based on his physical demeanor, rather than his coaching style. Hell, it doesnt matter to me who the coach is, i think this type of slander is unwarranted and messed up. trust me, no matter how much i have expressed my displease for coach soderberg, i would do this same thing for him if people were bashing him for his physicalities rather than his performance..... so, if anyone wants to check out the article, and look at the message board on the bottom of the page, please defend our head coach. i am not asking anyone to be rude and what not, but if anyone wants to jump in and give their two cents... just to show our basketball program is for real and the supporters have our HC's back when it comes to things like this... either way, it is a good read, so i recommend checking it out. peace
  14. brad also did not accomplish anything to deserve the 'full backswing of our administration'... but, he was unlucky because during much of his time at slu, biondi poured tons of money into the new bsc, the new research building, the new arena, etc.... so, now that most of those projects are wrapping up, biondi may have the resources available to be more flexible with his athletic budget so he can shore up our bball team just as he has done with everything during his time at slu.
  15. "He is a huge question mark as a head coach at this time and it all has to do with his physical "issues", to use a therapeutic term." i think majerus knows himself better than anyone. he has a cush job at espn, so i do not think he will take the SLU job if he feels he is not up to it, or not healthy enough for another coaching stint.
  16. not necessarily... but Majerus has been waiting for a job like this. he wants to be at a school like SLU in comparison to a big school like USC.... and this could prove to be easier on his heart/overall health problems in comparing stress levels of each job. Majerus probably knows that his reputation will take a huge hit if he commits to slu and then runs out like he did at USC... unless he is seriously sick or something.
  17. "A lifetime batchelor," uhhh, so? "Majerus lived in a hotel (at least while he was coaching Utah)." who cares? "He quit abruptly at Utah when his weight problems led to heart problems." uhh, what did you want him to do? 'walk if off'? Do you think the health problems have vanished? Stem cells, perhaps?" no
  18. "These comments strike to the essence of Rick Majerus. If your coach can't walk up a flight of stairs without gasping for air, it's not inappropriate." Ok, hate on our future coach (fingers crossed, knock on wood, double cross) because he is fat. that is terrible, and you probably "liked and like" brad soderberg because he's classy and a good man; maybe you should try to take after him. 20 bucks that you will be in Majerus's fan club before the season even starts just like the rest of us.
  19. "Also, to be critical, I think an obese guy with noted health problems and a weird personal life is at least a potentially questionable hire. If we were going to throw, let's say, $1,000,000/year on a head man, why didn't we go hard after Chris Lowery or Kevin O'Neill? These guys simply don't have a time bomb ticking in their chests." 422-147... questionable hire?.. and those comments are inappropriate. "But why did the administration decide to really "budget up," if that's the proper term, after they fired the last guy." Because of 422-147 "Just wanting to understand why we decided to become a "player" with one fell swoop." Dont we play to win the game? Would you rather us prolong our mediocrity?
  20. "Its intersesting to see how the negative posters have become positive posters. it really shows who the true fans are. you have the guys who did not like brad but are now showing that they are still fans, you have the guys who have been optimistic this whole time, and then you have the negative guys" ummm i am not sure if you were inferring that to me, but i am a poster that was anti brad (not him as a person, but his coaching style and recruiting abilities) and now i am slowly becoming alittle bit more positive because i think some good things are about to happen. but, what i ask is: because i have expressed my discontent with soderberg, how did that make me any less of a fan when compared to someone who is satisfied with soderberg? is that what you were saying? and by the way, even before soderberg was fired, i never cared for bernie and timmerman... and why wouldnt i become more optimistic over the past few days? this is the most excitement SLU basketball has seen in nearly 2 years.
  21. noone knows at this point... but, my guess would be that biondi found out that majerus was interested in the job, and he took the situation into his own hands and fired brad without consulting levick. if this is the case, was it right? in my opinion, yes it was. if we seriously have an opportunity to hire an A++ coach and recruiter, we have to make the move. that is, if we want to be a 'top 50' program. i think biondi liked brad, and probably under anyother circumstances he would not have made this move... but when a name like majerus makes himself available to your school, and you have the resources available, and your a school like slu,... there is no injustice in going for it. just my new, revised two cents on the whole ordeal.
